Where Did THAT Come From: Wes Doobner & His Rib Hut

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. That is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

The cool looking building/character combo Wes Doobner’s Rib Hut & Wes Doobner appeared during Act One of our Wild West Event. It is the final Personal Prize in Act One. You can find more information on how to earn it HERE. As well as more details on it HERE.

In this post I will be going over the Origin of Wes Doobner and his Rib HutWhy is it in our games? What does he have to do with Springfield Wild West? Does it have any significance? Let’s dive into the Simpsons TV Series to find out more.

Season 19, Episode 8: Funeral for a Fiend
Homer went to Circuit Circus to just get a battery. Only a battery. Nothing more than a Battery. Oh… and a TiVo… because it came with a FREE Battery.

Back at the Simpsons House, Lisa gets the TiVo installed and now they can watch programming commercial free. As she is forwarding through some commercials so they can watch the rest of the Itchy and Scratchy episode on, there is a really quick glimpse at a certain item from our games. Wes Doobner’s World Famous Family Style Rib Huts.

Later on, after feeling guilty about skipping so many commercials while half asleep and dreaming the TV is talking to her, Marge is now watching them fully. Once again, a commercial comes on for Wes Doobner’s World Famous Family Style Rib Huts. Seems like Homer and the Family are interested in trying it out.

Wes Doobner (2)

The Simpsons take a trip in the car to go the the Grand Opening of Wes Doobner’s World Famous Family Style Rib Huts. When they get there though, the place is completely empty. Not even any tables or chairs.

Wes Doobner (3)

The family has been tricked! Wes Doobner’s World Famous Family Style Rib Huts is an anagram. It actually is… Sideshow Bob’s World Famous Family Style Return!!

Wes Doobner (4)

Sideshow Bob, using a Slideshow presentation, tells the Simpsons of just how him and his family spent the last little while traveling the world while plotting revenge. Up to the point where he decided to create Wes Doobner and the commercial that would lure the Simpsons to him.

Wes Doobner (5)

Lisa outsmarts Sideshow by correcting a Shakespeare Quote he ruined. This causes Sideshow to use the Laptop he set up to overheat and blow the Simpsons up with TNT… and ends up blowing up on his lap. Sideshow is hauled off to jail. That is the end of Wes Doobner’s World Famous Family Style Rib Huts.

There you have it, a cool looking Building and Character Combo in the TV Series that had a few parts in yet another devious plot to end the Simpsons and now is a permanent fixture in our silly lil games. Giving us a brand New Character and a Building to utilize.

Do you remember the episode? What do you think of the Combo? Did you collect enough clues and pick them up? If so, what do you think of the Building& Character? Craving a rack of ribs now? Or is that just me? Let us know.

  1. Has anybody else noticed that the feet for this particular skin are a normal size? I know it’s not a huge deal, but it kind of irks me.

  2. I feel tricked that it’s a skin and not a character. I don’t know every bit of Simpsons trivia, so I spent $20 to get enough donuts to play-catch up and get what I THOUGHT was a new character/building combo. I don’t even have Sideshow Bob! Is it possible to get a refund, do you think?

  3. I completely forgot about that! When I got the prize, I was generally surprised it was a skin for Sideshow and still couldn’t remember it, but now it’s all come back to me, thanks to your post. 🙂

  4. I managed to get him yesterday. Since this event update didn’t fit in my phone, I can only play on bluestacks, which is quite annoying. I hope the game shrinks back to a manageable size after the event, so I can go back to redesigning on my phone.

I was confused because I didn’t see it mentioned anywhere in the rundown post that Wes Doobner was just a skin for Sideshow Bob. I wonder what happens if you earn the prize but don’t have SSB?

    • Just like other skins, it goes into your inventory until you unlock him. Remember you can still get SSB (quite early in the game too) even if you didn’t play Terwilligers.

  5. I did spend 140 donuts for this. Don’t know if it was worth it. On the other hand I have still over 700 donuts left (freemium player).
Let’s hope I can manage act 2 better.

  6. Connor Addict

Seems like this was a little harder to obtain than most “final prizes”. Usually I have all the prizes days or even a week before the next act but I just earned this literally 2 hours before the next act. Also hearing a lot of people saying they missed out as well. Kind of a bummer.

  7. Now you’ve shown us how it looked in the episode, I’m disappointed that it didn’t come with a car park (like Lard Lad donuts)
    😃

  8. Too bad we’ll never get Greasy Joe’s Bottomless Barbecue Pit.

  9. Anyone else’s game glitching? All 5 or 6 past events back as far as thanksgiving all activated and I can see act 3s prizes for this event

  10. Circuit Circus, a parady of Circuit City. I was gonna say that this episode was dated since Circuit City went “out of business”, but after a curiosity research I discovered that the dead franchise is going back to business. No joke. It’s said that its first rebirth store would open in Dallas. Not sure how it’s gonna turn out with it’s competitors.

Anyways got the prize on Sunday, and, first impression wise, I find this to be some sort of a second chance to unlock Sideshow Bob since it’s a skin. That being said, I’m ready for Act II.

    • Strictly speaking, it’s not exactly the same “dead” franchise that’s getting ready to open up… the brand was purchased by an unrelated internet company when the original company went under, and that internet company has gone on selling junk over the internet for awhile now, using the branding. (They also happen to own TigerDirect.)

But, ya know… everything old is new again, right?

      • Oh… just read a few lines of another article, and it seems that the TigerDirect company sold off the Circuit City branding to yet another company — and that’s who is opening up the retail stores.

  11. Thank you, the anagram was driving me nuts.

  12. I love that name for some reason…. DOOBNER.

  13. It was on Sky tonight for UK and Ireland viewers, great episode!

  14. Going to fall well short of this prize. All the issues getting the updates out me way too far behind.

    • Could always purchase it for donuts, at the VERY last second possible, would be cheaper than after this act.

      • Current cost for me is 350 donuts as I just have unlocked prize 9. Only 4 hours remaining and I need to sleep and go to work. No premium character and building costs anywhere near that much.

      • Still working on prize 8. Couldn’t buy it now if I wanted to.
