Wild West 101: Town Plaza Jobs (Act 2)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Time to hitch up the wagons and head out west, because the Wild West has hit our Springfields! With bandits to tie up, guns to sling, gold to pan & gold ole’ Homer getting everyone all riled up!

With so many layers to this event, it’s easy to get confused with what’s going on.  But, that’s where we come it!  To guide you through the ins and outs and break it all down in a manageable way, that anyone can quickly understand.

In this post we’re going to break down the jobs available at Town Plaza for Act 2.  These jobs are designed to help you earn more event currency…not only the Deputy Badges you’ll need for Act 2 prizes but also the “crafting” currency (Pickaxes, Hats & guns) you’ll need to “hand in” at the General Store to earn even more Deputy Badges! By the time we’re done you’ll have the ins, the outs & and the know how to fully understand who can go on what job and how to get them there.  Plus, as a bonus, i’ll also give you my strategy for completing jobs at the Town Plaza.

I know many of you had some confusion with this during Act 1, which resulted in you missing out securing all of the prizes.  So hopefully, this post will eliminated that issue and get everyone all of the Act 2 prizes.

So let’s get to it shall we?

Town_Plaza_2

Before we get into everything let me preface this by saying, this is by far one of the easiest events we’ve seen in recent times.  And I think what’s happening is, it’s too easy for some of you.  Too easy that you’re over thinking it way to much, and it’s throwing you off.

So I’m encouraging you to stop over analyzing.  Just play and have fun.  Remember the tappa, tap, tap Ralph way of playing.  Don’t think, just tap. 🙂

Now that I’ve explained all that let me also say….when you’re trying to explain something that’s relatively simple it can get very complicated and confusing.  So hopefully this post helps more than it confuses….

I’ve basically taken a simple concept and WAY over explained it….so my apologies in advance.

So now let’s actually get into it…

With the arrival of Act 2 a new job and new currency has arrived at Town Plaza.  A new task to split up your time with sending tasks…and to make you slightly crazy at the General Store.

The new crafting currency for Act 2 is Guns, Revolvers or six shooters…whatever you want to call them:

ico_wildwest_sixshooter

The arrival of the Revolver, marks the arrival of a new Job at the Town Plaza.  Because you need someway to get the Revolvers in your game.  🙂

NOTHING has changed from Act 1 with regards to earning ico_wildwest_pickaxe_md ico_wildwest_cowboyhat_md at Town Plaza.  The jobs are all still there, same characters apply…unless you upgrade (we’ll break it down in a minute) same payouts apply.  We just now have a new addition to the mix.  That’s all.

How Do I Change Crafting Currency I Can Earn At Town Plaza?

Same way as before.  Simply tap on your Town Plaza and you’ll see the list popup telling you what you can do.  Select Start a Craze:

2016-05-03 13.40.08

This will bring up a list of which characters you can Start a Craze with.  This will determine WHICH currency you earn at the Town Plaza:

2016-05-03 11.04.06

Decide which currency you want to earn, hit Start and you’re good to go!

Apuico_wildwest_pickaxe_md Earning Tasks

Homer =ico_wildwest_cowboyhat_md Earning Tasks

Snake= ico_wildwest_sixshooter Earning Tasks

You Can ONLY Select One Craze at a Time.  So if Homer is Riling People Up via the Craze option, you CANNOT have Snake or Apu switch the task.  In fact if you have the Craze started already, you won’t even see the option to Start a Craze when you tap on the Town Plaza:

2016-05-03 11.04.52

See how you don’t even see the option to Start A Craze?

I know there are some of you who are going to tell me about a loophole with assigning tasks here.  I’ll get to it.  For now, the statement above is 100% correct.  If Homer’s doing the Craze task you WILL NOT have the option to switch the task unless you spend donuts, or the task is complete.

How Do I Know If My Character is Doing the Craze Or Just Earning the Currency?

Aside from tapping on the Town Plaza, you can easily tell if they’re doing the Craze because the Craze task is visual.  So just look at the Town Plaza:

2016-05-03 11.38.07 Snake Promoting Lawlessness

2016-05-03 11.38.48 Homer Riling People Up

2016-05-03 11.39.17 Apu Selling Overpriced Supplies

So if you see one of those visual tasks at your Town Plaza it means that they’re doing the Craze task and you can’t switch the task until they’re done.

Do the Characters Need to Be Doing the Craze Task To Earn Currency?

No.  You’ll see that each character that can do the craze, also has a task to abuse, buy or get…

For example:  Homer’s Craze task is to get Rile People Up.  BUT once you’re already earning cowboy hats you can also have Homer Get Riled Up just like everyone else.

This comes in handy if you’re trying to split which currencies you can earn.

So now that I’m sure i’ve thoroughly confused many of you by making something really simple over complicated…let’s just talk about the jobs.

Here’s a list of tasks at the Town Plaza that will earn you Pickaxes:

And for those of you who need to know…here’s who can earn all 3 (your Master List):

Apu, Homer, Moe, Cletus, Gummy Joe, Buck McCoy & Luke Stetson

Can I split Up the Tasks?  Have Certain Characters Earn Certain Items?

Yes.  IF you stagger the tasks, you can have multiple currencies going at the same time.

This can get messy and confusing with timing, and honestly I don’t know if this is intentional or a loophole.  So I’m not going to elaborate too much on it here.  Feel free to discuss/explain the the comments.  But just remember, if it’s a loophole it could disappear once EA realizes.

So What’s Your Strategy for Earning the Currencies?

So for Act 1 I was 2 to 1 on hats and pickaxes, since you earned double Pickaxes from a 4hr task than hats.  So I would got hats, hats, pickaxes, hats, hats…this kept my totals pretty much in line with each other.

Now that Act 2 is here and there are three currencies to deal with.  And everything at a declining rate….so Revolvers earn at half the rate of hats, which earn at half the rate of pickaxes. So what do you do?

Honestly, I continue the pattern, but ignore pickaxes for now.  So I go guns, guns, hats, guns, guns.

You earn so many pickaxes just from tapping on the bandits, that should keep you up to speed with pickaxes you’ll need.

Also, another method I may employ is spend a day on Pickaxes…and then go right back to guns, guns, hats, guns, guns.

It’s ok if you bottleneck at the General Store.  You’ll be able to catch up, even if you skip a day of trade ins.

The important thing is don’t panic, and just play.

So now that I’ve taken this big long post to explain everything…hopefully I didn’t confused you any more!  Sometimes when you try to over explain something simple….it becomes very confusing.

Just remember: this really is a simple update.  As long as you’re mindful of changing the tasks, and doing your trade ins you should have success! 🙂

Oh and I’ve explained this in various other posts…so if this is still confusing check out these posts:

Act 2 is live
Act 1 Wrap up How tos

They might explain it a little better…

What are your thoughts on the Town Plaza jobs?  Figuring it out?  Having success?  Still completely confused?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Okay so there’s about twelve hours left in Act 2, and at this point I don’t think that I will be able to earn enough badges (about 4500) to earn the final prize of Coral and Princess…gutted but I guess it’s better to save up my resources for Act 3…right?

Also, there’s was that weird glitch last night that replayed many prior quests…I was finally able to complete the Valentines day quest line by using about forty donuts to rush jobs to get the fifteen hearts I needed to get Mona!!! I’m thrilled that she is still in my Springfield today, though now I’m not sure if she will disappear once her quest line is done…?

    • If you think you’ll get it try. Hoard resources until the last hour and then trade them in if you think you have enough to get there. If no don’t trade them in

  2. I realize this is a first-world problem, but should I continue to craft badges or just build up my hats, etc.? I’ve already reached the end of part two. Do the badges have any value after that?

    • I would keep collecting for Act III. Badges on the other hand, we don’t need no stinking badges lol.

    • Keep collecting hats, etc., but don’t trade in for any more badges beyond ding your daily trades (and only use the box on the left, so your trades deplete as few resources as possible).

  3. Did anyone not get Krusty for his job at the Town Plaza? I have the exclamation point, but no Krusty jobs?

    • Keep in mind some Characters can only do tasks for SPECIFIC items.

For instance, if Krusty only Earns guns but you’re currently on earning Hats or pickaxes… you won’t see his task.

Once you start Snake to earn Guns from there… THEN you’ll see his. Make sense?

  4. Thanks for another great post, Alissa. Forgive me if I’m mistaken, but I don’t think Snake belongs on the master list. He makes guns and pickaxes, but not hats.

  5. I’m not sure why there are so many collection strategies. Mine is very simple but I don’t see anyone posted it so far… I only do large trade-in because of the bonus, and I just keep doing that till I don’t have enough of something for the next trade, so I go and make more of whatever is needed to make that next trade. Why would I try and maintain a 4:2:1 ratio if that means I’m making something that isn’t needed for the next trade-in? Maybe if I already had enough badges that would be sensible, but I haven’t got to the 4th prize yet…

    • Yes, that’s more or less what I’m doing as well, as I explained below (though I didn’t mention I’m doing only the large trade-ins).

  6. I think the strategy for which material to earn should be determined by what the general store is asking. Whenever I clear tasks at the town plaza I check the store and plan accordingly. For the past two days, the store has been asking me for nothing but pickaxes and occasionally a couple of revolvers, so if I played by your strategy I would be unable to complete any trades. Also, I try not to leave any characters idle, so if I’m changing the currency to something one of the characters can’t earn, I’ll send him/her on his/her tasks first (this also in order to maximize badge earnings).

  7. What’s the new bandit hideout for Level 7 Town Plaza?

  8. Is anyone else getting a glitch where there’s an exclamation point on your little saloon icon that’s supposed to indicate that you have available item-earning tasks but there aren’t any? Example: Marge isn’t busy. Right now, I’m collecting revolvers which Marge can’t do, but the game seems to think she can so it’s giving me an exclamation point. If I send her to go walk Maggie or something, the ! goes away.

It’s not affecting my game play so it’s nothing worth reporting, just curious if anyone else noticed it.

    • Yes, I’ve noticed that, too. Annoying.

    • You should send Marge and Bart with Homer/Apu to make pickaxes or hats, then change the craze to guns so you can utilise all your characters and you won’t get the !

There’s quite a few comments on how to do it so I won’t go into detail 🙂

  9. I wrapped around to the 24 hours (or whatever the cycle is – I didn’t take note of when I tapped him yesterday) and was able to find him. You’ll know he’s there to find when the little pop-up wanted poster appears upon log in (the same pop-up as when you hit “do it,” but on log in, not when you hit do it…)

  10. Hey, just wondering if anyone else is experiencing an issue unlocking Krusty for this event. I’m on plaza Level 8, but he’s still showing as locked?

I’m also experiencing an issue seeing a status bar for the level up progress for the town plaza as shown in the pic below

    http://imgur.com/3Ra2OwJ

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

    • You might try going to the friends screen and then back or rebooting your device. Let us know if that helped. 🙂

      • Hi there,

Thanks for the suggestion, sadly it hasn’t resolved the issue. I think what I will try is changing the craze to something else and then back again, just to see if that unlocks Krusty.

        • I have the same issue. Town Square upgrade status bar always reads done, but asks for donuts when tapped. It says I’m level 8, but Kristy won’t go to work, (unionized clown) and no bandits at Androids Dungeon. I’ve visited friends, visited Krusty Land and even tried reinstalling the app. Still the same. It has been like this since the end of act 1. The square had upgraded from level 5, just haven’t seen results. I suppose I should call EA, but I keep tapping anyway. “My name is DrJack, and I’m an addict.”

    • What happens when you click “Done?”

      • Asks if I want to spend donuts.

It does level up as it should, once tapped on enough bandits, but I have a feeling this problem is linked with the fact I can’t unlock Krusty’s tasks. I tried switching to collecting hats this morning, still no luck.

        • I has the same problem. I have tryed to check for updates, go to a friends town, going to krystyland, rebooting my tablet, restarting the app. But none off them works.

    • ellieoftheflump

I am having the same issue. I got message a while back saying Krusty is unlocked and available for jobs but no matter which craft I make, krusty never shows as available to work in the list. Have rebooted device and also reinstalled game but no joy as yet- touch wood someone helpful will arrive with an answer 🙂

  11. If Act 2 storyline would start for me, that would be great. *sigh*

Contacted EA after yet another uninstall/reinstall last night, and all I got was ‘Yep, it’s an ongoing problem we’re aware of, keep trying. K-thanx-bai.’ Case closed. >:-(

I see where the finale tab says ‘Complete Fistful of Bothers to unlock this item!’, referring to the jail. But when I tap it, it just takes me to the town plaza. And nothing happens.
