Should I Spend Donuts On the Hootenanny Barn & Luke Stetson

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

YeeHaw!  The Wild West has arrived in our pocket-sized Springfields!  With bandits to tie up, guns to sling, gold to pan & gold ole’ Homer getting everyone all riled up! So bust open the vaults and grab those donuts because there are loads of new Wild West themed premium items in our stores!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Luke Stetson and the Hootenanny Barn to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this pint sized cowboy to your town.

Building/Decoration: Hootenanny Barn
Character: Luke Stetson
Donut Cost:
100 Donuts
Size: 6×5
Earns: $135, 15xp/4hrs
Conform-O-Meter Impact: Vanity +100

Leaves stores on May 17th…but the earlier you buy the better

Pros
-Comes with a questline
-Fun animated tasks
-Decent price for a premium character/building combo
-Luke will have tasks at the barn
-Luke can earn currency at the town plaza (at a premium rate)

Cons
-Luke is a 1 off character, so it may be hard to justify spending 100 donuts on him, when there are many other regular premium characters you can buy
-Not voiced

Final Thought:
Premium:
For premium players, Luke is a good buy for this event.  100 donuts is reasonably priced, he can help with the event and it’s a character combo.  To me this is a good buy for premium players.  If you’re going to get him, I’d get him sooner rather then later so he can be the most useful to you during the entire event.

Freemium:
Freemium players…if you’re wanting to buy a premium character for this event…this is probably your best bet.  Luke is reasonably priced, a full premium character and comes with a building.  Hits all the premium bullet points.  Plus he’ll help with the event.
However, I NEVER recommend buying a character solely for event purposes.  Take a good look and determine if you want to pull the trigger on this one off character….otherwise those donuts may be best saved for something better down the pike.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you I’m on the fence with this one.  Still debating it myself, but I’ll probably make my final decision before the weekend.  (so he can be the most helpful for the entire event)  Just make sure that you pick him up sooner rather then later if you’re thinking about getting him.  The sooner he’s in the game the more beneficial he’ll be to you!

Note: Luke does come with a questline.  Personally I think you should hold off on completing the questline until the event is over (it’ll still be around), so that you can use Luke at the Town Plaza to help you earn Event Currency…

  1. Just noticed Lukes barn is producing ribbons… 6 every cycle… any idea on what they’re for?

  2. Does any one knows what’s does it comes with Lisa outfit of lizard queen, duff gardens? I like to know if it worth the donuts and all that..

  3. Bangles Dupree

I am so glad I read this post! I was going to pass just out of general cheapness. But I love the cowboy lullabye animation and the barn will work just as well in my farmstead area. I didn’t really see the need for it until I started getting all these horses! Thanks once again to the Addicts. 🙂

  4. I saw somewhere he will be in act 3? Does this mean I basically screw myself lol. Since I could have received him as a prize?

    • You cannot get him as a prize. So that’s incorrect. He’s premium only…he will be used in Act 3 if you purchased him in Act 2

  5. Loved the look of the barn, my Simpsons farm is one of my favourite areas and it looks great there. I couldn’t make up my mind about Willy’s tractor in time and am still annoyed I missed it.

  6. I had a little over 200 donuts and as a freemium player debated long and hard on this one, but decided that it was worth the buy. I like Luke and I like the look of the barn, plus 100 donuts for a building/character combo seemed worth the splurge.
