Should I Spend Donuts On the Old Mine?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

YeeHaw!  The Wild West has arrived in our pocket-sized Springfields!  With bandits to tie up, guns to sling, gold to pan & gold ole’ Homer getting everyone all riled up! So bust open the vaults and grab those donuts because there are loads of new Wild West themed premium items in our stores!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Old Mine to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this bandit generating gold treasure trove to your Springfield…

Old_Mine

Building/Decoration: Old Mine
Donut Cost: 180 Donuts
Size: 8×8
Earns: 4+ico_wildwest_bandit_md/4hrs (Bandits generated will depend on your Town Plaza Level)
Bonus: Adds 4% bonus on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter Impact: Tree-Hugging +300

Leaves stores on May 30th…

Pros
-Comes with a questline (1part)
-2hr Task for Snake, Earns $110, 27xp
-Always animated, water flows.  When Tapped a mine cart goes around the tracks and crows fly out.
-Adds a nice bonus %
-Fits nicely with the western look if you’re doing a western area in your town

Cons
-Crazy expensive
-Bandits generate fairly quickly on their own, so that really doesn’t add a benefit to this

Final Thought:
Premium:
Personally, I don’t think this is worth the 180 donuts.  It’s just two high of a cost for not enough return.  If it came with a character I might think differently.  But 180 donuts is just too pricey for a decoration IMO.
However, I know there are a bunch of you who will love the look of this and grab it.  And it’s not a bad buy for premium players…I just don’t think it’s worth it.
So premium players, pass.  Unless you absolutely love it and can’t live without it.  Save your donuts for Act 3.

Freemium:
Stay far, far away from this one. I know it’s shiny and attractive, especially with that bonus %…but stay away.  It’s not worth the price.  You’ll end up regretting spending the 180 donuts…that you could have used to purchase Luann or Duffman..
Freemium players pass.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you I plan on passing on this one.  Just not worth it to me.  Whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision by the end of the event…because this mine leaves with the Wild West..

Here’s a look at the questline it comes with:

The Old Mine
Snake starts

Snake: What a totally rad old mine! I bet there’s some neat artifacts down there.  I think I’ll relive the glory days a bit and check it out!
Make Snake Dig for Artifacts- 2hrs, Earns $110, 26xp
Snake: Alright, time to like, see what I’ve got here.  Some kind of time travel car from the 80’s–an android head, and pictures of cave-man graffiti.  So lame! I don’t regret my career change to professional criminal at all!

And that’s it, the complete breakdown of the Old Mine!

What are your thoughts on the Old Mine?  Will you be picking it up?  Or did you already?    Where have you placed it in your town?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. A Mine w/Mine Cart was on my wish list, but not for 180 Donuts (I seem to generate enough Bandits to tap). A shame EA didn’t lower it to 60 Donuts and allow this item to be more then Tree Hugging conformity ….

I still appreciate all the Freemiums earned so far ….

  2. I absolutely love the look of it. It reminds me of the KL log ride, but I wouldn’t spend donuts on that because no one ever goes into KL, so it’s not worth any of the donut spends there. I don’t need the bandits, and I really don’t care too much about bonus % at this point anymore, although it is nice – just not a reason I buy anything. I just really love it, but I must admit, now that my sprinklies are scarce (especially since neighbour visits aren’t coughing them up anymore), I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger. I actually can’t unless I earn some more freebies or top up my account. However, I also haven’t logged in yet today – just about to do so- and have heard of some whacking day items for sale. I missed the first and only Whacking Day, and this may push me over the dark side to buy more donuts. Biggest problem there, is the prices jumped drastically in Canada through iTunes, making it harder to spend the money. I did see a deal at my local convenience store though for $5 off a $50 gift card, so that could help.

  3. It’s expensive but the animate is worth it. Check this integrated waterfall 😁

  4. I think it looks great and would like to get it but it’s just too darned expensive. Throw in a character and I’d bite your hand off.
I’ve no need for more bandits, I even completed act 1 comfortably with a 7 day holiday scarcely playing. Easiest event ever, in fact it’s getting a bit boring.
I hope we get bonuts at the end of act 3, I’ve got so many hats, guns, pickaxes and prospectors saved up I’ll be finished in no time.

  5. This is a pass for me 🙁 I love it, but I’d struggle to spend 80 donuts on it so it’s a definite pass at 180.

  6. Had anyone noticed (maybe it was in a post & I missed it) that if you tap on the smaller rocks a scorpion crawls around on it & the taller rocks birds fly around it?!

    • I don’t remember seeing it mentioned, but I did discover it by accident a little while ago. Fun little critters!

  7. I like this, but it is too expensive: pass.

  8. I don’t know, I think it’s coming together. Love the rocks.

  9. The fact that it adds bandits shouldn’t really be considered a con even if it’s not really needed; a con would be if it didn’t add any at all. And the bandits it does add could be the difference between unlocking the next prize immediately or waiting another few hours to get the material you need, so I would say it definitely is a benefit however slight. Just my two cents.

  10. I gave in and bought it. https://imgur.com/a/YF5Kj

I worked it in among the rocks. It does remind me of the Wild Mine Car ride at Cedar Point. I think it’s called something else now. Only negative for me is when I tap it to start the animation the banner pops up over it and you have to close it real quick or miss it.
I don’t regret it. It’s a splurge but what the heck. It looks cool and if I didn’t get it I would long for it down the road like I did Springfield falls.

  11. The Mine is also a better deal than the Whale but just about everything nowadays is a better deal than the Whale!
