It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread…out with the West and in with the Chili! The Chili Cook-Off hit our games this past week, what are your thoughts on the mini-event? Excited at the chance to make your own Chili Cook-Off in Springfield?
Donut Day made donuts rain down in Springfield…literally! Have you taken advantage of the donut deals? Purchase any of the donut themed items? Are you making it rain in your town all the time now?
How was your weekend? Do anything fun and exciting? We took Riley down the shore for the first time. She loved the beach and watching the ocean! 🙂

I’ve had quite a few neighbourino requests lately, I’ve accepted them all (welcome to my Springtania!) but curious where you all may have seen me to request? Not complaining at all, I regularly check the over 3-4 weeks attendance unless they’re “known” 😉
Probably from your comments here! Those of us who have Origin IDs that match our handle here (and who comment frequently) are a lot more likely to get “spontaneous” invitations, I would think.
I realise that, but for some reason in the last two weeks or so I’ve had around 15 requests, normally wouldn’t see that in 6 months…
Are there no more updates through the Amazon app store as it has vanished from there?

Woohoo! Finally reached billionaire status last night(or the three comma club for any Silicon Valley fans out there). Now if I could just resist the urge to finish upgrading the remaining buildings. I don’t think the completest in me will allow it though 🙂

ok, 2 things. First off maybe good news for some of us. Yesterday the Gil deal showed up again for my Wife *sadly i haven’t seen it again yet). So maybe its getting fixed.
2nd on the SH stuff and the multiplier, am i correct in that it doesn’t show up on your conform-o-meter number. I have a number of my heights buildings stored currently. When i first saw people talking about the multiplier i got a few of them out and it didn’t change the number so i put them back away.
Yes, the Springfield Heights buildings’ bonus multipliers do not show up in the Conform-o-Meter, because they only multiply XP, not cash and XP, like the Conform-o-Meter bonus multiplier does.
I’m stuck….do I cave and buy the donut boat or skip it and potentially purchase Rosco? I know it’s ridiculous that I’m even considering buying an expensive boat over a building and voiced premium character for 100 donuts (just typing that hurt) but I’m a ridiculous person 😜 and the boat is so cute AND makes it rain donuts…..any thoughts??
Rosco. It’s cheaper..and the boat will lose it’s novelty eventually
Do you see the boat potentially coming back next donut day? That’s what’s holding me back. I feel like Rosco seems probable to return for next year’s potential pride stuff….

Well, laying aside what I would do, what I’m hearing in your comment is that your head wants Roscoe, but your heart wants the boat. In this game, I say it’s generally better to go with your heart. Just make sure to consider whether you’ll still enjoy making it rain donuts three months from now….if so, then get the boat. The main goal of playing this game is to have fun and make you smile. Never lose sight of that!
Good advice, Sandra! The heart won out this time…..but funnily enough, the boat purchase was accidental. I was just placing it to check dimensions and hit confirm without thinking. A bit of a costly whoops on my part. Guess I’m more bone-headed than brain-headed 😅

I have to admit, I was frustrated when I first got it, but I’ve grown to like it so it’s not a loss I guess 😊
Note to a certain neighbor of DearthNadir (You know who you are), in the past, you have been a very good neighbor. I’m unsure if it is due to the event ending, but in the past week, you have vandalized two of my buildings, on two separate occasions. So that amounts to four vandalisms in one week. I have added you from the “promise not to vandalize” thread. Please STOP vandalising my town. Once, I can forgive, once happens, its an accident. Two incidents in one week, and both times being the same buildings, that’s no accident.
All my neighbours are from the non vandal thread but this week I’ve had to buy more training walls. I know it doesn’t bother some but I lost two stars because of it and I used that thread cause it bothers me!
If you put enough training walls in your town, you never have to worry about your Rightousness rating again.
I know about the training walls but my plan was to hold off until I could buy a bit more land and get my town a bit more ordered.
It just irked me because like TSTO I had got my neighbours from that thread because I didn’t want to be vandalised.

I have training walls myself, but they are hidden (so far) Haven’t dropped in stars because of it yet, but if it keeps up it could happen. Have no more places I can hide walls, so we’ll see what happens lol
if you stocked up on nero’s walls from the casino event, you can replace the training walls with those. much smaller size and footprint, should be able to hide em with ease. i actually have enough of them out around my casino area that i was able to completely get rid of all my hidden training walls.
I came in half way through the casino event managed to get 30 of the Nero walls. I’m just hoping there is something similar in the next event. You’re spot on they’re a lot easier to hide.
Thank you! When I was writing to someone here recently about using training walls to keep his/her righteousness rating up, I wanted to add that there was another type of smaller wall/fence that aldi did that, but I couldn’t remember which one it was. Thanks for clearing that up for me! 🙂
They made a great addition to my Stonecutters’ compound, both Nero and Training walls. Also thought it was appropriate placement given they give “righteousness” and the Stonecutters believe they are almighty.

Yes I do, but I’m not tapping on it. It will rain when I first get into the game then periodically while I play. It is not a problem per say but odd.

The oddness continues. I tried tapping on my donut boat and no donuts rain down. So I stored the boat and then placed it back out, nope… still no raining donuts when tapped. However I still have spontaneous raining donuts. Lol!
Thought I would try one more thing. I stored the boat and then closed the game. When I went back into the game (while the boat is still stored) it rained donuts. I guess when ever I have the time I’ll contact EA.

No, it is apparent the rain has become completely detached from the boat.
That is too cool… I personally wouldn’t complain to ea about that! I want my donut rain to be random like scattered showers, not manually activated like dr. hottentot’s weather machine.
The randomly raining donuts are pretty cool. But I am concerned that when a new event shows up it may jam my game or cause some sort of issue.
Is it just me but is anyone else suffering content overload lately?
Ok, yup, I’m actually on EA’s side in regards to donut distribution, for long time and tapping addicts I am happy with the amount I can achieve per event, even with the odd switch on and off on collecting neighbourinos donuts, I usually cash in enough for at least one premium character. F’rinstance as freemium only, no “mining”, tappin’ 3-4 times a day, I am on around 100-105 ‘nutty goodness. I am aiming for the Pro Shop as it adds a character, and with the WW event I did save enough for the premium Barn with a Stetson character.

I’ve been having to download the entire game every few days (every day?) since I guess the takedown update.
I’ve tried keeping my storage clear. I’ve tried not using my browser (if it fills up the cache space) or most other apps.
Last time it started over downloading I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Still it continues to happen.
I’m going to try to clear even more space….. I already have over 2gb free on my SD card. I can’t have more space free on my internal storage since there’s only like 1.6gb available there total. I used to fill up my space all the time and the only issue that was caused was a slow running game. Never had to download the full content again before.
I’d like to blame the new app version, but who knows. If I can’t fix it then I hope it gets fixed when the new Superheroes update hits. That or I suffer through it for a while. (Or it’s time to finally buy a better device to play on. Tablet!)
I advise a tablet if possible. I start to run into trouble when I have much less than 2 gigs free. If the entire storage on your device is only 1.6 gigs, I predict continuing problems.
I predict that as well.

In TSTO-related happenings, I’m enjoying the chili mini-event. Taking my time working through it, as I’ve been busy lately so I really like the pace. I do wish the final prize was a little more exciting but I can’t complain. I also treated myself on donut day and am now debating what I’d like to pick up. I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting the donut store as I think it’d go nicely with Howard’s Flowers. I’m conflicted on the boat…..I love the look of it and the donut rainfall is sooooo cool but it’s really pricey. There’s also the chili items…..it’s my on the fence as to whether I’d like to have Rosco or devil Flanders, but I’m passing on the coyote after hearing it was kind of underwhelming. And then there’s the need to save for the next event…..any thoughts or opinions?
Non-TSTO wise, I’ve had a couple of really good days again! Sunday was my dad’s 50th birthday so we had a nice little celebration for him with his favorite dinner, presents, cards, and to cap it off: a special cheesecake factory cheesecake from a local place that imports them to Canada for wholesale. He loved it and we had a great time as a family. Then yesterday, I had a whole host of wonderful things happen. I had a great counselling session, went to starbucks, came home and got a call from little sister at school saying she passed her math exam (her biggest challenge). Then mom, dad, and I headed to the garden centre to pick up our pepper plants. It’s an annual tradition for my dad and I and this year, we’re growing the second hottest peppers in the world (the chocolate scorpion – kind of appropriate with the chili event!). We also got my sister flowers and she was super happy. When we got home, the sunglasses I ordered had arrived, along with a message from a friend I’d lost touch with who is now at dental school in Hungary! To cap it all off, my mom picked up a scratch ticket and we won 50 bucks! Sorry for the long overshare, but it really was a great day. Now, I’ve got tons of work to get done as there’s only one week of school left for me before exams. Time to get busy. Hopefully there’s more great days to come for all of us!

Age is just a number! And my dad acts like an old man before his time, though he sure loves that seniors discount 😉
Also I saw your post on the other thread (re: neighbours) and once I start getting everything in order for visiting and design, I’ll let you know. I almost always have spaces so then it’ll be the next time you have a slot free!
Just let me know when you’re ready…I have a few neighbors who never visit me, so I’d probably be willing to dump one of them to make room for you. I actually have one free space now that I’d like to fill with a “regular” from here, but, if I don’t come up with one soon, maybe I’ll give it to one of the poor people who have been waiting on my invitation list for ages.
I really appreciate it! Once my town is ready I’d love to have some more regulars as neighbours. I just love this community. I’m so comfortable here and the atmosphere is great. I’m one happy tapper 😊

My local PBS is airing some program on a wonderful desert scape (just music and time lapsed video) I’m transfixed (great with the Space Coyote event. check it out if your local PBS station is airing it and this is mono rated in time 🙂

The program is “Majestic Nature”, figures they’re doing the Support Plee break now… Oh, they just moved into Ocean Theme, desert is over… Maybe you’ll see it if they re-air it. It’s still tranquil and cool to watch.
