Totbox’s Throwback Thursday: S1 E5 Bart the General

It’s time for another Throwback Thursday with Totbox!  Enjoy this week’s installment.. -Alissa

ATTENTION MAGGOTS!!! I mean, hello peacemakers and warmongers,

When I time-travel I try to stay away from war era’s but that is nearly imposable. Even traveling to 2700 BC you’d think I’d be safe but No, that was the first documented war (in Mesopotamia). In my travels, I have ran into a few generals like General Washington, General Patton and General Lee (the car from The Dukes of Hazzard). Generally speaking, Generals are generic but not this one, Bart (the general).

“Bart the General”

Bart has a bully problem, and of course you know, This Means War.

On February 4th 1990 everything felt so peaceful when the 5th episode of The Simpsons aired but six months later (August 2nd 1990) the Gulf War began.

I am a pacifist, but respect those whom served their country. Does this make me a hypocrite? Maybe, but if you travel through time it makes sense. Time after time, war after war, it all seems so juvenile but I guess that comes with the Territory. :p (Get it, “Territory”, since most wars are about gaining land…. Territory, it come with the territory…? I’m keeping it.. Lets move on)

But this episode isn’t all about war it’s about Bully issues. Did you know that the word “Bully” was originally to mean “lover” back in the 1530s? So odd that love can turn into hate or aggression or conflict (if you’ve ever been in a relationship this makes perfect sense). Bullies come in all shapes and sizes and some run for political office. But I’m a lover (bully) not a fighter (bully) so I’m not going to throw any more punches. *I got one hand in my pocket and the other one’s giving the peace sign*

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING:

Nelson, Bart’s Tree House, Herman and his shop, the Retirement Home and a cameo of the Old Jewish Man.

There are also character’s and items that appeared for the first time that Could come into TSTO in the future maybe. OH THE POSSIBILITIES:

Some previously requested Characters: Weasels (Nelson’s two human henchmen)

Possible Skins: Military Helmet Bart and kids, Day-Dream Dead Bart

image (27)

Possible Events: Water-balloon War event (with cupcake currency) or a real War event (just because I’m a pacifist doesn’t mean I don’t like cartoon violence) :p

Characters and Things I didn’t mention because I personally have no interest in them joining the game Don’t Mention It: Retirement home receptionist and unknown old people. The dog behind the fence and all the various kids that I haven’t mentioned in the previous Throwback Posts.

some Highlights:

Some other things to think about:

Herman explains the loss of his arm which is the same way Mrs, Krabbappel warned the kids in episode (S1 E3) “Homer’s Odyssey”. Was that kiss, Lisa’s first? The Weasels have shared skin color a couple times in this episode (maybe they are chameleon’s not weasels 🙂 ). The Weasels ended up cheering as Nelson was being bombarded by water-balloons (not very loyal). In the end Bart does a little PSA explaining the only good wars were “The American Revolution”, “World War 2” and “The Star Wars Trilogy” (I wonder if Wookiee agrees with this?) :p

Do you remember this episode? What was your favorite moment?  Any of the Possibilities that you Really do/don’t like? Did you have a Bully problem growing up (how did you handle it)? Have you ever served time in the military?  Can you imagine a world without bullies or war? Sound off in the comments and have a peaceful journey back to your current time space/time 🙂 “As you were”

I hate bullies. I try to find some non-bulling tasks for my Springfield bullies to do. Just like people, they need to be redirected into something constructive.

  2. I have to say that Day Dream Dead Bart is a long shot for a Skin, but it makes me laugh. I would love the visual tasks to be Stay dead and Don’t move. (Much rather have this dead Bart than that THOH Sideshow Bob revenge Corpse Bart).

  3. I love that quote from Bart. I’m a History Major so there are other conflicts I find interesting but that’s a good list.

  4. My favorite part? When Lisa gets kissed and then slaps the guy! 😀 hahaha

  5. LagginPotato64

My favorite season 1 episode… it’s probably even in my top ten episodes ever.

  6. Grampa: I am disgusted with the way old people are depicted on television. We are not all vibrant, fun-loving sex maniacs.

    • When I searched for an Abe Simpson joke I went straight for the “Family Jewels” :p

But yes, I liked that one too. I remember in the (late 80s, early 90s ) they did a few Old “Cool” People commercials maybe it was just ad agencies trying to jump on the popularity of “Cocoon” :p

  7. Love these posts!!! I love exploring what EA could add (I miss wookie’s “what a wookie want posts”) and exploring classic episodes so this is my perfect blog series 🙂 keep em coming

    • Maybe when I’m done with all thirteen episodes of season 1 Wookie can do a special WAWW Season 1 post (agreeing or disagreeing with my ideas), How about it Wookiee? 😛
