Superheroes Sequel 101: Issue 1 Battles

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Because all Superheroes need a sequel…Superheroes 2 has found its way into our pocket sized Springfields!  This super event hit our devices…and with it arrived a whole new Event to make us scratch our heads, and drive us slightly insane.  😉

And on that insane note…Battles have made their way to our Springfields! Where you can use your heroes abilities (Brains, Brawn and Tech) to beat up on some Felons and win more Brass Knuckles!

Now this new element can be confusing to some, and it has A LOT of layers to it…so let’s break it all down.  By the end you’ll know the who, what, when, how, why and say “oh my god just stop talking already!” of the Superheroes Battles!

As always, let’s start with the basics…

2016-06-14 15.49.44

How Do I Start Battles?

To start battles you must finish parts 1 and 2 of the prelude and then start (and place) Orphan Alley Pt. 1

darkalley_menu

The level requirement is Level 5…

After you build the Alley, which takes 6 seconds and is free, you’ll be able to start the battles.

As with everything the game will guide you through what you need to know, so follow the questline and the prompts and you’ll be battling in no time.

How Do I Battle?

Every 4hrs the Alley will spawn Felons.  Tap the Alley to release those Felons and enable you to battle.

At this point you’ll have two options to start a battle.  You can either tap the fist icon floating over the felons walking around in your Springfield.  Or you can tap the fist icon in the top right corner of your screen:

ico_mhud_felonfight_se
2016-06-14 16.06.35

That will then enable Battle Mode.  From here you can select which of your heroes you’d like to fight in the battle.

2016-06-14 15.49.53

You’ll see across the top which Felons you’re up against, and down the right side the list of Heroes who can fight for you.

The hearts you see next to each character is their life line, how many hits they can sustain before losing the battle.

ico_stor_superheroes2_plopperpig

Simply tap Select on the fighters you choose and hit fight.

2016-06-15 19.57.24

You’ll need at least 1 Fighter for a battle.

And…the characters do not need to be free to battle. So if they’re on a task, don’t worry they can still battle.

At this point you’ll be in battle mode…

2016-06-14 20.38.54

Tap the fist to Attack….

2016-06-14 20.38.44 2016-06-14 20.38.48

Once inside battle mode you’ll also be able to switch which hero is fighting, we’ll cover a little more about this below.

2016-06-14 20.39.28

Also inside battle mode you can use Sciencewater to instantly heal 2 life level for one of your heroes active in battle.  (if they’re eliminated from battle Sciencewater won’t bring them back)

2016-06-14 20.40.06 2016-06-14 20.40.11

We’ll cover more about sciencewater below.

How Do I Win?

Simple, you defeat all the felons in the battle.

What Happens If I Win?

You’ll earn Brass Knuckles and Gems for winning.  Wins will earn you 350 ico_cur_superheroes2_brassknuckles_lg and 40 ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg

2016-06-14 20.40.38

What Happens When I Lose?

When you lose you still win.  That’s because even in a lost you’ll earn ico_cur_superheroes2_brassknuckles_lg and ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg!  When you lose you’ll earn 55 ico_cur_superheroes2_brassknuckles_lg and 10ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg..

2016-06-15 23.28.39

What’s Up With the Bonus?

Whether you win or lose you’ll earn a bonus for the damage you’ve dealt to the Felons (how many felon hearts in the battle that you took out).  You’ll earn 4 ico_cur_superheroes2_brassknuckles_lg for every 1 felon heart in the battle.   So let’s say you attacked 3 Felons in your battle.  Each Felon had 3 life lines, that’s 9 total hearts you’ll deal damage to in a win.  Those 9 hearts you damage translates to 36 bonus ico_cur_superheroes2_brassknuckles_lg!

And again this bonus happens whether you win or lose!

So now that we’ve covered the basics.  Let’s get a little further into it…

Which Characters Can Battle?

During Issue 1 here’s a complete list of all of the characters that can battle:

And yes if you miss any of these characters from the first event they’ll be back for premium purchase at some point during this event….

And…the characters do not need to be free to battle. So if they’re on a task, don’t worry they can still battle.

What’s Up With the Little Icons Next to the Characters?

ico_superheroes2_fightertype01 ico_superheroes2_fightertype02 ico_superheroes2_fightertype03

These are fighter types. They’re designed to give one character an advantage over another.  Every type has another type their stronger against, and a type they’re weaker against.  And every character has a type.

2016-06-14 20.39.12

So What Type Beats What?

2016-06-14 20.39.16

Their are 3 types:

ico_superheroes2_fightertype01 Brawn

ico_superheroes2_fightertype02 Brain

ico_superheroes2_fightertype03 Tech

Here’s which one has an advantage over another:

ico_superheroes2_fightertype01 Brawn has an advantage overico_superheroes2_fightertype02 Brains

ico_superheroes2_fightertype02 Brain has an advantage over ico_superheroes2_fightertype03 Tech

ico_superheroes2_fightertype03 Tech has an advantage over ico_superheroes2_fightertype01 Brawn

What this advantage means is that the character will do more damage to the weaker character (2 hearts in 1 shot).  In return the character with the weaker defense will lose 2 hearts with 1 shot.

Here are a couple of scenarios:

ico_superheroes2_fightertype02 Brain Vs.  ico_superheroes2_fightertype03 Tech

So let’s say Fallout Boy (Brains) is battling a Felon that’s Tech.  With 1 hit Fallout Boy will do a damage of 2 to the Tech Felon.  While he’ll only take a damage of 1 for any hits the Tech Felon brings.

ico_superheroes2_fightertype02 Brains Vs.  ico_superheroes2_fightertype01Brawn

Let’s say The Collector (Brains) is battling a Felon that’s brawn.  With 1 hit the Collector will only do a damage of 1 to the Felon.  But the Felon will do a damage of 2 with 1 hit to the Collector.

ico_superheroes2_fightertype03 Tech Vs. ico_superheroes2_fightertype03 Tech

Let’s say Fruit Bat Man (Tech) is battling a Felon that’s also Tech.  With 1 hit Fruit Bat Man will do a damage of 1 to the Felon.  In return the Felon will do a damage of 1 to Fruit Bat Man.  This one is basically a draw…and it depends on who goes first & who has more hearts.

So your best bet is to have an advantage or have a draw.  You never want to be in a position where a Felon has an advantage over you.

Which Felon Is in Which Fighter Group?

The Felons have Fighter Groups too.  It’s important to pay attention to which Felons you’re battling so you can match the appropriate Hero so your Hero has the advantage.  Because it’s always better to win…

What’s The Best Way To Assign Characters To Defeat The Felons?

Let’s take this battle as an example:

2016-06-15 14.43.41

You’ve got a Tech Felon followed by 2 Brawn Felons.  The best way to defeat this group is to pick a Brain Hero and 2 Tech Heroes.   So in this case I’d pick Dr. Colossus, The Collider & Clownface…in that order.

When you go into the battle the Felons and Heroes will fight in the battle listed.  This way you can ensure the proper character matches up with the other.  However, after you’ve taken down the first Felon you will need to switch characters, it won’t do it automatically.

So When I’m In A Battle How Do I Switch To A Character That Has an Advantage Over Another?

So the game explains it like this:

2016-06-14 20.39.21

2016-06-14 20.39.28  So when you’re in the battle and you need to switch characters simply hit the switch button:

ico_battlehud_superheroes2_switchcharacter

It’ll then show each of your characters with an arrow to them, select which one you’d like to switch to:

2016-06-15 21.34.14

Now when you switch that’s considered your move.  So the Felon will get the first hit against you..2016-06-14 20.39.40

But if you switch to a player with an advantage over the Felon they’ll take less damage than the other character would have.

Note: you can ONLY switch within the three Heroes you’ve selected for that particular battle.  In other words you can’t pull someone in off the “bench”.

My Character Only Has 1 Heart Left, How Do I Heal Him So I Win?

You can heal a character mid game, restore a heart, by using Sciencewater. 2016-06-14 20.40.06

So simply push the Sciencewater Button

ico_battlehud_superheroes2_heal

and select which character you’d like to heal (Sciencewater gives 2 hearts)

2016-06-15 21.34.57

This will help heal your heroes during the battle so they can fight longer and you can win more battles!  Sciencewater cannot bring an eliminated character back.  So use it before they lose all of their hearts.

You can earn Sciencewater via tapping Criminals and the Prize Tracks.

I Don’t Want To Switch A Character or Use Sciencewater But I Accidentally Tapped Them, How Do I Get Out Of It?

Simply tap the cancel button, it looks like this:

ico_battlehud_superheroes2_healdisabled

So Sciencewater Heals During a Fight, What Do Band-Aids Do?

ico_cur_superheroes2_bandaids_lg

You’ll earn band-aids via crafting and the prize track.  Band-aids instantly heal 1 heart for one of your heroes, so they can battle again quickly.  However, they only heal if the character isn’t in battle.

2016-06-14 20.47.50 2016-06-14 20.49.02 2016-06-14 20.49.06

Simply tap Heal to use them.

How Long Until My Characters Are At Full Health So They Can Battle Again?

Without using Band-Aids it’s a 1hr cool down time per heart for the characters to recharge. (So if they took a hit of 2 hearts it’s a 2hr cool down to recharge your full.

Characters cannot battle unless they have a full lifeline.   So even if they’re 5 hearts and only lose 1 in a battle they can’t battle again until that 1 is recharged.

So My Character Has Empty Hearts, How Do I Fill Those In?

As many of you have pointed out to me….upgrading a character will also fully heal them.  So if you plan on upgrading someone don’t waste band-aids to heal them first.  When you upgrade it’ll bring them to full health and give them an additional heart.

Upgrades!  You knew it was coming right?  The max life a character can have is 5 hearts.  Each character starts out with a life of 2 or 3 hearts.  (see list above for who has what)  To max out their life level you’ll need to upgrade using Gems:

ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg

You’ll earn these Gems via Battles.  As mentioned above you’ll get 40 ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg for a win and 10 ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg for a loss.  You’ll use those Gems to upgrade your characters and fill their life levels.

2016-06-15 14.43.27

Simply tap the green button when you’re ready to upgrade.

How Many Gems Does it Cost to Upgrade?

The good news is, for Issue 1 at least, it’s the same cost to upgrade each character.   The bad news is you need to upgrade each character individually.   Here’s what’s needed to upgrade at each Level:

Level 2 to 3: 245ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg
Level 3 to 4: 380ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg
Level 4 to 5: 550ico_cur_superheroes2_finitestones_lg

And that my friends…I hope…completes the explanation on Superheroes 2 Battles!   (I warned you it was long…)

What are your thoughts on the battles?  How’s your record so far?  Were you quick to figure it out, or still working through it?  Thoughts on Superheroes 2?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Something really confusing and frustrating keeps happening to me; I’ll loose a battle even though I’ve defeated all the felons and all my fighters still have hearts.

After I defeat the last felon, the game gets hung up (like I’ve hit the sciencewater or switch fighters button even though I haven’t) so I have to hit the fist button again (even though there’s no felon to fight, it’s just my fighters) then it tells me “you lost.”

    But I didn’t.

  2. In my daily challenge it is telling me to “Upgrade a fighter.” How do I do that when all my characters are already uograded? I have 8000 finite stones that I don’t know what to do with. I don’t want to miss out on the bonus prize of 10 donuts. Help please? Thanks!

  3. Am I missing something? I am able to win everytime, never using more than three lives, meaning I never need to use Sciencewater or Band-Aids or even upgrade with Gems. Every character is back to full strength before the felons reappear. Consequently, I have over 100 Band-Aids, 250 Sciencewaters and 2500 Gems. Is there or will there be any other use for these items? Is there any value in fully upgraded heroes since 3 lives is always enough.

    • You are not missing anything.

The game is designed so that there is absolutely no luck element. There is absolutely nothing random about the fights unless you randomly choose which characters to bring.

You can win 100% of the battles you choose. (However, if a neighbour attacks you, they should win every battle if they planned correctly.)

  4. why cannot you upgrade the felons in the social battles

  5. Apologies if this has been posted before but I cannot find it anywhere…
How many roaming battles can you have in your own Springfield at any one time? Once I’m done with bonuts I want to save some to get me ahead for stage 3 as I’m gonna miss some of it due to a trip, I done the same with stage 2 but only left 12 as I wasn’t sure if there was a cap. Thanks guys 🙂

    • 12 is the max

    • Although 12 is the stated maximum, you could get up to 14, the same way you can go over the stated maximum in your Springfield Heights businesses or recycling buildings. If you have 11 gangs roaming around, it will still generate another batch of 3, for a total of 14.

Disclaimer – This comment is based on what other folks have described happening to them…I don’t believe I’ve ever exceeded 12 myself, but, then again, I’ve never tried.

  6. My orphan alley isn’t spawning a fist, or felons or anything. I have only been able to do the very first battle. Glitch?

  7. Tankgirlofdoom666

How do I switch to new heroes? It’s only letting me use the same 3 fighters? How can I fight with other fighters?

  8. After the last update I received a task to use the new button to rush my battles. So I go ahead and assign heroes to fight and hit the button. Instant loss even though I should have won. AFTERWARDS I get a dialog telling me how it works. ?!?!??? Must be a glitch since you would think it would tell you how it works before you are tasked to use it. Anyone else have this happen?

While I’m at it what’s the sense of a button to rush a battle that doesn’t swap characters for you?

  9. Just wondering: I’ve upgraded all my fighters to 5 hearts and crafted everything. Is there any benefit to continuing to fight the felons? Or should i save them for issue 2 ? Thanks 🙂
