Where Did THAT Come From – Mylar Baggins & One Week Wonder Films

Faster than an event speeding donut spender! More powerful than a local Addict! Able to leap long comment threads in a single bound! Look! Up in the TSTO-niverse! It’s a building! It’s a decoration! It’s Superheroes 2016!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

So unless you’ve been locked away in Lucite, by now you probably realize a new event has splashed all over the screens of our beloved game. Lots of new stuff and that means I have one heck of a job to do letting you know where all the new “super” things come from. Origin stories are sort of the bread and butter of any comic book story worth its proverbial weight in Booster Gold, so I’m back at my usual antics again. For this issue of WDTCF, we’ll be looking at…

One Week Wonder Films – 10th Social Battle Prize

Woohoo! A hobbit reference… my precious. But what the heck does this building have to do with the Best. Show. Ever. and/or Superheroes. What does a film studio have to do with comic books? That makes no sense at all lol. Let’s check out the TV Series to find these buildings.

The first appearance of Mylar Baggins was in “Little Big Girl” (S18:12). The plot focuses on Lisa being bored about presenting her family’s history for multicultural day. She misappropriates the noble heritage of Native Americans to liven up the Simpson lineage. Ever hear of the Hitachi tribe? Lisa is picked to represent her noble people and Springfield Elelmentary. “She’s in heap big trouble.” This plot is worth it just for a view of the Springfield Multicultural Center where she gives her speech.

As much as I want this building, this isn’t the one we’re looking for even if I love Lord Vader being represented as culture (which he is). It also doesn’t have to do with misappropriating culture, it’s based on the side plot. Cletus accidentally starts a fire that spreads through the town and gets Smithers to admit he’s flaming. Leave it to Bart to steal all of his school’s extinguishers to power a red wagon. As he races off in the wagon, the fire spreads to Springfield’s Flammable District (including Kevin’s Kindling, Mike’s Methane Mart, and Just Matchheads).

I still wonder if the elementary school burned down but Bart’s shenanigans actually save the rest of the town and in reward, Bart gets one wish. He dreams of some funny stuff but in the end asks for a driver’s license. Anyone familiar with the Sunsphere episode knows that Bart driving is not a great idea but definitely a funny one. I like him entering a thousand mile Baja road race. Seriously though, Bart ends up becoming an errand boy for Homer. To get away, he drives off and stops in North Haverbrook, “the very name conjures up romance and intrigue.” They have a giant moon bounce, an ultimate fighting zoo, and a comic book shop… Mylar Baggins.

You know I have to love a place with a Chewbacca standee in the window. I wish our TSTO version had it. The store has Hippie Hulk and a clerk who is looks very similar to Comic Book Guy. He just represents more diversity. Has to be a cool guy to so cleverly name his shop, right?

The next appearance is in “Homer the Whopper” (S21:E1). I won’t go crazy into this episode since it will feature in other origin stories but the long and short is that Comic Book Guy writes his own comic called Everyman. “Everyman will stop every crime every time.” He self publishes on the advice of Bart and Milhouse and one of the places where the comic is delivered is the same shop in North Haverbrook.

After Comic Book Guy self-publishes his own comic book which is a big hit, “only the Coolest. Comic book. Ever.”, it catches the attention of the big wigs at One Week Wonder Films.

They’re looking for the next big summer franchise that hasn’t already been adapted from a source but feels like it has. The CEO’s son comes into the meeting room, bored as children his age sometimes are, but is carrying an Everyman comic. Woohoo! New licensing!

The only problem is that Ginormous Pictures has already bought the rights three weeks previously. So there you go friends. The origins for Mylar Baggins and One Week Wonder Films. What do you think of the prizes? Do you want an Everyman skin too? Sound off in the comments and happy criminal tapping in a classy sort of way.

  1. i hope they make some adjustments to the prize schedule, or i won’t be seeing one week wonder films. between the glitch with the social battles not resetting on time (already patched now) and passing out early last night, i’m behind by over 24hrs.

    • Have I missed the comment / answer.
My daily trio of Social Battles is now available at 8:15 pm. If I miss a day, can I pick it up tomorrow? Do one trio at 12:00 noon (for yesterday) and THEN perform the ‘next’ battle at its sceduled time?
OR, would that simply re-set the clock to Noon, instead of 8:15pm with me missing a day.
I “think” we have an extra day or two in the svh file, but it is very, very tight.

  2. I just got all the phase 1 prizes 😀

    • I unlock ed all of the superhero prizes but still need to craft the bookstore. I’m in no rush though. I’m nearly there with over 4 days left.

  3. “North Haverbrook,” where have I heard that name before?

  4. The Every Man skin for Homer would be nice 😄
It will cost donuts. Not nice 😡

  5. BraveElfgirl1994

I want an Everyman skin for Homer!!!!

  6. An ‘Everyman’ skin would be cool. So many possibilities in the realm of Superheroes for this game. They still have enough to do a Superheroes 3 next summer in my opinion.

  7. First to comment? LOL! Love exploring the origins of items and taking a trip down memory lane in an expertly written post which fills me with joy and excitement to read! Thanks so much wookster 🙂
