Should I Spend Donuts On Coolsville and Milo?

Sorry this is getting up late tonight…rough and crazy day around here.

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Because all Superheroes need a sequel…Superheroes 2 has found its way into our pocket sized Springfields!  This super event hit our devices…and with it arrived a whole new Event to make us scratch our heads, and drive us slightly insane. So it’s time to break out those donuts for their super hideouts because there’s a whole store full of superhero inspired premium items!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Milo and Coolsville to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding the trendiest comic book store around to your town.

Character(s): Milo
Building: Coolsville
Donut Price: 150 Donuts
Size: 4×8
Earns: 20indicator_superheroes2_tradingcards/8hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism +20

Leaves stores July 16th…so grab if (if you want it) before it’s gone!

Pros:
-Comes with a  questline
-Earn 50% more cash and xp on all tasks
-Coolsville earns trading cards.  Awesome feature if you’re in need of a little boost
-Coolsville will be used, and is animated when in use (lights up)

Cons:
-Aside from Trading Cards from Coolsville, Milo offers no help with the event (No battles, no square inches, no prize currency earned, nada)
-Pricey

Final Thought:
Premium:
For me, I like this one.  I grabbed the combo almost immediately.  I think Milo is a funny character and I love that the shop earns Trading Cards.  (Granted you can earn more by tapping Criminals…but still)  However, it is pricey…and your return on investment isn’t that great.  So unless you love the character (or you’re a character collector) I’d pass.

Freemium:
This is one of those….I like it but I grabbed it, but I don’t know how I’d feel about it if I had to work hard to earn my donuts  moments.  It has some nice features, but at the end of the day it is a bit over priced for a character/building combo (and not a regular character at that).  If i were a freemium player, I’d probably pass on this one.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you, as I have already, I grabbed Milo right away.  Of course whatever you decide just remember this is limited time and will be leaving our games (stores) on July 16th.  And of course, as with anything that helps earn event currency, the sooner you buy it the more beneficial it is to you.  So if you’re thinking about getting this, do as soon as you can so they can benefit you the most.

Milo’s Permanent Tasks:

  1. We must have picked him up four years ago but who can remember that far back?

  2. *sigh* I was on vacation when the end of his sale hit, so I missed him. Was intending to buy him, but was low on donuts. Now I’m stocked up and no Milo. Oh well.

Crossing my fingers they’ll do a “last chance” sale at the end of the event. I know it won’t happen, but a girl can hope!

  3. Poop. I think I missed them. I thought I had all day on the 16th (today), but even this morning they weren’t there. Oh well–maybe next time!

  4. It’s nice to actually get a Character with a Building (vs just a Building)
I have a feeling this Combo will turn up again at half the Donuts
(that’s being happening quite often in this game)

  5. Probably would have purchased if they had not given us Mylar Baggins for free. That name cracked me up when I first saw it and does to this day. I get a little weird about having too much of the same kind of business in my Springfield even though they are all from the show. I have at least 5 prisons/asylums now.

  6. I think that milo and coolsville is a good buy from who are a completist (like i am), but if you want cards, it is not a good buy. I picked it up, because i am a character collector. In my Springfield, i placed in a kind of mini-park. About milo quests… I think that is bad, and do not worth the time.

  7. So, question for the people who have already gotten this deal…are you happy with it or sorry you spent the sprinklies?

I’m leaning towards picking this up, but it’s a little expensive, so I thought I should get some input from the folks who have already taken the plunge.

    • Josephine Kick@$$

Glad I picked it up so far, I love the look of the building, but it’s still too early to give a definite yes to.

    • I grabbed him right away but I would not recommend him for everyone. What I would say is if you are on the fence with this purchase don’t do it, just save your donuts for something better. I’m not sorry I bought him but I do wish he had better outside jobs.

    • I like it . The store is so detailedly crafted that the action figures can be seen through the glass window.

      • Ive always been under the impression that 150 donuts is a decent standard for a character/building combo. So I have no issue with Milo/Coolsvile.
Can name plenty of building/character combo’s that are A LOT higher than 150/200 donuts. All they do is the same ol thing in a nutshell.

    • So I’ve waaaaay overbought on donut items recently and I would have to say he is probably my least favorite of those purchases from the event. It’s not the price, but his outdoor actions are just so so and my affection toward him as a character is meh. The building is alright tho

      • Thanks! Before I posted this question, I had really been leaning towards getting it, but the general trend I’m seeing in the responses has made my actually getting it unlikely now.

But that’s okay…I still have plenty of non-limited-time characters to get, and I don’t mind hanging on to my sprinklies for a future deal of some kind. 🙂

  8. By the way, I think he looks like Elvis Costello, who we saw when Homer went to Rock Camp.

  9. I bought him because my donuts are coming thick and fast these days but I don’t think he’s a very good deal. If you’re short on donuts or still have other characters to buy, I’d advise to hold off.
The shop looks great, in my opinion, but his outdoor tasks are a bit Meh.

  10. I picked it up immediately. I loved the episode, and I am a comic book fan, too. I really like his task of giving out Japanese candy.

I’m just waiting to see what drops in Issue 3 before I incorporate Coolsville into my Springfield. Right now, it’s sitting on the outskirts. I think I might have enough items for a block of cool shops.

  11. Josephine Kick@$$

Yep, been just waiting on your post & 10 more bonuts lol 😊

  12. A 24 hour visual task is a huge selling point for me. I may have to get this.

  13. I would love to get him but I just spent all my donuts on Plopper… so I’ll have to pass on this one.

  14. This it’s the first premium item in this event to seriously tempt me…if it were just a bit cheaper, I would have snatched it up (i think it’s a nice general addition to my town), but, at the current price, I think I’ll mull it over a little while longer. (I’m freer with my donuts after 4:20….wouldn’t be surprised if I pulled the trigger on it tonight or some other night in the next few days…)

I thought I vaguely remembered this episode, but I didn’t think it was Jack Black (although I’m sure I’m wrong, if others say it was). Milo looks a lot like a different actor, but I’m drawing a blank on which one.

  15. Can you place it in Squidport?

  16. I might be in the minority, but I just don’t think Coolsville is all that cool.

    • Well, I’ve no emotional connection to the character, so I wasn’t even tempted.

    • my perspective of “cool” in this game has evolved proportionally to the amount of bonuts i mine every day… 😉

if i bought all that aqua world crap, you can be sure i bought this, heh. it’s actually cooler when the building is tasked/animated and the coolsville sign blinks. goes well with the blue glow from the holo flag i have placed behind it.

      • I just love the memorabilia in the windows.

      • I’m definitely more willing to spend donuts, and I have been during this event. Or just recently. I didn’t even think about dropping 200 on Teddy and the park, when it returned to my store. But I want to build up a big bank of donuts for Black Friday and buy everything. And I mean everything haha. 😉

        • good idea on the big bank. black friday is still several months away though… assuming i don’t blow all my bonuts on event items, it’s quite possible i will have already purchased all the items they plan to offer by the time november rolls around…!

        • Glad you got your Teddy. Good point about Black Friday.

          • With everything being limited-time, it’s easy to forget about the permanent items in the store. I figure if I can save up some donuts, any deals they have on Black Friday (or any time they offer a rebate/sale/bundle) will be the time to spend them.

            • That was the trick EA wanted us to fall for, that the events are offering everything limited-time and they wanted us to spend all donuts now and never save up for a day like Black Friday.

I’m sorta back to where I was before. I have, or could get, the donuts but I’m just looking at these offers and not being worried that they’ll be gone (forever). (Or Teddy took it out of me.)

  17. I thought Milo is a name for a strong man. He is more of a brainac. I got him as I love comic stores

    • Milo is a name for a dog. That’s where I probably first heard the name.

      • To me, Milo has always, and always shall, be the name of the little boy in the book (I refuse to recognize that subsequent abomination of a movie) “The Phantom Tollbooth.” It is probably my all-time favorite book.

(Vanessa – if you want to get a sense of what really good English wordplay can be, along with a fun story with a terrific moral at the end, you really should check it out. It’s ostensibly a children’s book, but, as I reread it every year when I was growing up, I saw, and understood, more and more of the jokes (because some of them required more schooling to really ” get”). It’s definitely adult-worthy reading, too!)

        • You had me scared when you said:
“that subsequent abomination of a movie) “The Phantom”
That very well could have continued on with “Menace”, and I would have agreed. 😉
I’m glad you had a better childhood than I did, Sandra. Sean, too. Chocolate drinks, some sort of tollbooth, not seeing movies about little dogs.

      • For me I heard this name from ancient Greece. It was used by a strong man. I think that is why the chocolate beverage Milo chose this brand.

  18. I think this character/building combo is a good buy at 150 doughnuts.

  19. Love the bartman figurine in the window. Makes me smile everytime I see it. 🙂

  20. Love the bartman figurine in the window. Makes me smile everytime I see it. 🙂

  21. BraveElfgirl1994

    Voiced???

  22. Thanks Alissa. Swaying on this one. Think I may still go for it Like the episode and character and more reasonably priced than Roosevelt. Would like them both! Prefer characters over other premium but not gone for any this event – this one seems more fitting for me than Roosevelt, The Fracker or the 2 other super characters. The latter is better value (2 characters for 120 D’s) but not my favourites from the show. Decision made!

  23. I had to get him straight away…I love Jack Black! Shame he’s not voiced though ♡

  24. I havent bought him yet but I think I will.

I am building a little mini-town with all the superhero stuff we get in tribute to Marvel/DC. I have the Googoplex movie theatre near Orphan Alley as reference to Batman (Bruce Wayne’s parents were killed in a back alley while taking a shortcut home after watching The Mask Of Zorro), the car magnet next to the gun store as reference to Spider-Man (Uncle Ben was shot on the way to pick up Peter), the HQ in reference to Avengers Tower, Burns Mansion as Xavier’s School For Mutants

I’m currently working on a Hells Kitchen for Daredevil so i think the local comic book store will fit in nicely with that. Maybe ill put in Howard’s Flowers too because whats a borough like without a flower shop run by an elderly widower right?

    • Oh that is so awesome!

    • *pushes glasses up her nose* Actually, it was The Mark of Zorro, Mask of Zorro is a much more recent film. (Batman started as something of a Zorro knockoff, so it was relevant in that way. The reboot probably should have used Mask of Zorro, but used the opera instead. That was a bit of a bummer.)
Loving all the references, though, well done 🙂

  25. I thought 150 was the stock standard good deal on any premium character with a building combo. Building will earn cash no doubt after the event.

  26. Who the BEEP is Milo? I’ll pass for him.
