Addicts Bracket Challenge: Most Desired Character Week 5

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers! It’s time for Week 5 voting of our Addicts Bracket Challenge!
Once again….here’s Safi:

How much longer EA can keep Tapped Out going is up for debate. But what isn’t debatable is that there are plenty of characters in the rich history of The Simpsons universe still not in our little game. From Homer’s college mates to his look-a-likes, from Bart’s crushes to Lisa’s idols, from four-eyed friends to four-legged pets, there is plenty of ‘untapped’ potential (pun intended). But which character do we really want?

We present to you the TSTO Addicts: Most Desired Character Bracket Battle…..

  1. Tough choices every week! Many of my top picks were eliminated early. :p

  2. These were much easier than before. But the one I’m going to start thinking about now is Bleeding Gums Murphy, or Ol’ Gil. That is going to be nearly impossible for me.

    • Yeah, the closer the gap gets between the seed, the harder it usually gets.

So week 1 with 1 vs 8 (difference of 7) was the easiest.
Week 2 with 2 vs 7 (difference of 5) was slightly tougher.
Week 3 with 3 vs 6 (difference of 3) was even slightly tougher.
Week 4 with 4 vs 5 (difference of 1) is very tough.
Week 5, we’re back to 1 vs 4* (difference of 3) which is easier than last week .
Week 6, we’ll get tough again with 2 vs 3* (difference of 1) which should be very tough again.
And Week 7, the Conference Finals will remain very tough with 1 vs 2* (difference of 1).
However, once we have 8 Conference Champions, that’s when the toughness might get extremely tough as you’re now comparing 1 of something vs 1 of something else* (difference of 0 in seeding, but comparing apples to oranges – (but if you love apples and hate oranges, these rounds might be the easiest to you)).

      * [granted only 75% of top seeds made it on to this round, so it’s not necessarily those seeds, but you get the idea.]

  3. This was tricky but not as tricky as before. I mostly went with the less obvious/ least popular options, I.e. I still picked Julio over the Rabbi, Laddie over furious George, Flanders’ parents over nerds, Roy over Wendell, Thistlewick over Mr sparkle. The last 3 could be very close because they were the hardest for me to choose from so I went with Alice Glick, Mary Spuckler and to choose between Mr Bergstrom and John was the toughest out of them all. So I picked John over Mr Bergstrom. Oh and I hope you do another one of these in the future. 😃

  4. I would have voted for Karl over the Rabbi, but as it is I voted for the Rabbi. (Although now that he’s dead in-universe, I have doubts that we’ll get him.)

    • Should have double checked, as the bracket Karl would have been in was actually the one with Mr Bergstrom. Statement still applies to that, though. I like Bergstrom a lot, but would have voted for Karl there, too. Oh, well.

  5. Rabbi, Wendell, Furious, nerds, Sparkle, John, Allison & Wiggum…

  6. Wait a minute, I just realized John is John Waters. THE John Waters? And you expect him to LOSE this round? What kind of sick world is this??

    • Well, this is the same John Waters that had one of his stars eat fresh dog poop on camera, so personally I can do without him.

    • My earlier comment may have been moderated, as it went into a bit of detail, but I’ll just say that given the content of many of John Waters’ past “creative” works, quite frankly he’s a character I would rather do without.

      • Well, I can certainly understand that, although that doesn’t seem to be the reason why he’s expected to lose. However, you have several characters in your game who have done much worse deeds, and whatever John did in your game would be fictional anyway, so I don’t think that argument holds much water (pun intended, sorry). Do you really think John Waters is worse than Richard Nixon?

  7. Women’s conference was easy for me I’ve been wanting sarah wiggum in the game for as long as I can remember.

    • While I totally agree with the second half of that (and voted for her both times), I still can’t shake the feeling that Pommelhorse and Glick got the shaft. I literally could not bring myself to vote when they were up against each other, and felt a little bad voting against Alice because I love her in the show.

      “Hello… Mrs. Pommelhorse… I’d like to get down now…”

  8. I’ll be honest, mostly voting for which event sounds coolest… 😀

  9. As much as I love Julio, I had to go with Rabbi Krustofski because I really want EA to give us a Chanukah event (a Passover event? A Riosh Hashanah event??? Just give throw us Jews some sort of bone here!) I hope EA gives us both characters at some point, though. Choosing Wendell was easy for me because he has been in so many episodes and would fit right in with the rest of the kids. I barely remember, and Sarah Wiggum for sure. Went for Mr. Sparkle because Ihe cracks me up. No idea what he would do in the game, but I’m not feeling any need to be logical about it. I’m pretty torn again in the girls category because I really like both characters, but Bart needs Mary. Combo division is a tough call for me this time but will probably go with Homer’s college crowd. No string feelings about pets or one hit wonders this time. Might not vote in those two categories so as not to dilute the votes of those with stronger opinions. Thanks so much for all your hard work Safi!!!

    • Meant to say after Wendell comment that I barely remember the other character. Please excuse spelling mistakes!

    • Rabbi K. is probably my most-wanted character out of the whole shebang! I’ve been wanting a Passover event for ages! Passover seems like it would the easiest of the Jewish holidays to make an event around, by far…so many details to work with, especially the plagues. I could picture frogs and locusts as the roaming things to tap (like the criminals in this event), the waters all turning red, etc. And just think how panicked Bart would be after hearing about the whole “death of the firstborn” thing, lol! 😉

    • I have no clue who Julio is. I’d never even heard of him until he appeared here.

  10. Nooo Karl D: Oh well. At least Julio and Jeremy made it so far.

  11. Russian Tigger

Found this rounds voting quite simple, had a clear preference in each category unlike previous rounds. But missed seeing the current voting results like previous weeks, but I guess you’re trying to keep us in the dark until next week.

Easiest vote in support for me was John, he has to become a character some time. But he can leave his pink flamingos and polyester at home.

And easiest vote against was Mr Sparkle, I don’t know why but I find him rather creepy. If he ends up in the game he will probably languish in storage in mine. Strange how some things just creep you out.

  12. Even though we have round one winners, I found it still surprisingly easy to decide. Admittedly, there were a couple of pairings in the first round I couldn’t care less about either, so that might explain it.
    Rabbi Krustofski – no contest.
Wendel vs Roy – meh… went with Wendell simply because I remember him better.
Pets: since we have already more dogs than monkeys, I went with the ape on this one.
Combos: couldn’t remember either, so I voted for the Flanders, just to annoy Homer 😉
Doppelgängers: Flanders again; I’m with Sandra on this on, I just can’t see Mr. Sparkle being a regular character. Plus, it is going to annoy Homer, again.
    Mr. Bergstrom, hands down.
Allison vs. Mary: This one was the hardest for me, voted for Mary in the end, because there are not nearly enough Spuckler kids in the game. And we can’t upset Lisa now, can we?
Women: Sarah Wiggum. Alice wasn’t that memorable for me, and Ralph and the Chief definitely need someone to watch over them.

  13. Fairly easy for me but I think I’ll be disappointed. 2nd seeds in all but the Sarah Wiggum vote. How could anyone vote against Mary Spuckler?
A lot of the time I vote based on whether they’ll be voiced and who voices them. Anything voiced by Hank has a big advantage😀

  14. So sad that Colin didn’t make the cut

  15. Nerds vs Flanders paren’t. ..gawd that was tough!

  16. Good work as always Safi and congratulations on Raonic!

  17. Safi, due to the overwhelming popularity do you have plans after the Final Finals? If not I have a suggestion (if you are interested) A Season 1 Bracket!?!?!? Excluding characters from season 1 that were in the original bracket. Also include Skins, Buildings, NPCs, and maybe even Possible events (which you can use my Throwbacks as reference guide, probably best to leave out the Don’t mention it stuff) :p

I’m serious about the idea though. Let me know your thoughts and if so, I’ll discuss it further. 🙂

    • I actually had been working on four different Brackets. So if things go well and A/B/W allow me back, I might be back next three summers.

I want to keep it a secret what the topics for the other three are; but I can confirm one does have a “throwback” component to many episodes (though not to Season 1).

  18. I went with all the top seeds besides the one where I picked Mr. Sparkle over Lord Stupid Flanders.

  19. I mentioned this last week, but I’ve always wanted Charlie added to the Plant Workers group, and it would be fun to have Big Daddy carrying Ralph around on his shoulders, or better yet running from Wiggum, P.I.(g!) with Ralph on his shoulders!

De Chief! I suppose I’d best to run!

  20. Can’t believe we’re so many weeks in already! This has been (and continues to be) a LOT of fun….thanks, again, Safi!

Mr. Bergstrom vs. John was a toughie (but Lisa told me how to vote on that one 😉 ).

But here’s my question…. I really like Mr. Sparkle, but, in the end, couldn’t vote for him because how could he ever be a character? I mean, how would that work? I’m sorry if he lost my vote because of a lack of imagination on my part. 🙁

Oh, and Safi – I don’t get why the View Results option was turned off for this round…I didn’t understand what you said about that.

    • Nooooooo. Mr Sparkle all the way!

      • I’m open to convincing, because Mr. Sparkle is so memorable, but how do you see that merger of a fish symbol and a lightbulb symbol, being a character in the game? I mean, how would that work?

        • It would work fine. If we can be in a world with four fingered, blue haired, yellow people wandering around with a space coyote, aliens and super heroes then I see no problems with a floating fishbulb.
But then it is Saturday night and I might be slightly broodered.😉

      • Join me or die! Can you do any less??

    • I would imagine that the show results would allow for those who Really want a character to see if they are winning or not. If losing the inclination to vote many, many times similar to Dancing With The Stars allows (that’s the show that has audience votes, right?) would be too strong to resist, thus skewing the real favorites.

    • He should just be a giant floating head

  21. I think this time it’s going to be close on some!

  22. Seriously, we just need all of the characters! hehe

And it wouldn’t hurt to make the land and water grid bigger to hold ore stuff!

    Excellent pole. Luv it

  23. 4kidsandacatdog

Tough choices on pets and combo. Otherwise I think it will be pretty clear cut.

  24. Oh man, now the decisions get painful.
