Where Did THAT Come From – Giant Snake in Tree & High Voltage Transformer

Faster than an event speeding donut spender! More powerful than a local Addict! Able to leap long comment threads in a single bound! Look! Up in the TSTO-niverse! It’s a building! It’s a decoration! It’s Superheroes 2016!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

Snakes… why’d it have to be snakes. For Issue 2 and 3 of the 2016 TSTO Superheroes Sequel, EA threw new craftable items at all of us and this time they didn’t cull from just the same episode (they did that for the prizes instead lol). A lot comes our way from the Radioactive Man comics from Bongo (I’m looking at you Zenith City stuff) but that’s not the case for everything. Some of the items hail from the Best. Show. Ever. What items you might ask? Well, cool your atomic jets friends… I’m getting there. For this origin issue, we’ll be scanning the city for the Giant Snake in Tree for 835 Trading Cards (Issue 2 Crafting) and the High Voltage Transformer for 335 Trading Cards (Issue 3 Crafting). Both hail from the same episode and in a funny twist (at least to me), it’s also an origin story. Let’s head off to the dark underbelly of New York/Gotham/Springfield and find this tree with a big ol’ honking slithery scare beast in it and precarious power outlet.

“Revenge is a Dish Best Served Three Times” (S18:E11)

We’ve covered this episode before for Bartman and the Kiosk but obviously there’s lots more goodness EA could pick from a short segment in a three-part episode about revenge. This segment parodies Batman Begins and gives us the origin story for Bartman. Here I was thinking previously that Bart was just a big fan of DC and maybe saw the similarities with a certain caped crusader/vigilante some call the Dark Knight. Apparently he has a non-canon origin story too lol.

Bartman Begins Simpsons

The big bad of this segment is The Serpent. Cleverly, this character is played by Snake and is the man responsible for offing Bartman’s parents. Bartman goes on a crusade to catch this supervillain. Interestingly,he stops not one, but two of the criminals by muscling them into a high voltage transformer (Dang it… now I REALLY want Poison Lenny).

Bart also stops a bunch of other criminals (The Diddler is another of my favorites) but finally arrives to thwart the Serpent at the Gotham Natural History Museum as the Serpent attempts to jack the Stealable Jewels of the Orient. Right away we see the giant snake in a tree.

Giant Snake in Tree Simpsons

I’m a big fan of the punny way The Serpent speaks. “I’ll be snaking those jewels and venom gotta go. Sorry I didn’t asp your permission. Hope that’s cobracetic.” Bart tosses some Bartarangs and stops the heist. Snake seems to be thwarted and surrounded.

But capture is not enough for a vigilante bent on revenge. Bart punches Snake and he stumbles backwards only to be impales on the giant snake. Oh the ironic end!

So there you go friends… the origin for two of the crafting items of this super event. What do you think of them? Did you craft either of them? How many did you craft? Sound off in the comments. I’m off to look for more Simpsons hiss-tory and measure my new tree in inches, snakes don’t have any feet after all.

  1. I thought the high voltage thing was from “Homers Enemy” and the part where grimey dies😟

    • It looks more like this and as it’s a superhero episode, it makes more sense. Or maybe I just have too much Homer in me and just don’t remember him lol. Just for you here’s an image of Grimes’ transformer from the episode. You can than me later for not including pictures of other Transformers I like such as Bumblebee.

If you ask nice, I may include this image in the post.

  2. No more brownout on Evergreen Terrace at Christmas. I’ve placed two transformers over there. I hope they don’t transform 🙂

  3. Wait – was Poison Lenny never in the game? I distinctly remember having seen him in a friend’s town, have I dreamt that up?
Anyway, what I really would like to see in my game is the Toker, although the Diddler, Serpent and Poison Lenny would be pretty cool additions too.

  4. This is going to sound cheesy and weird but I get excited easily so here it goes …

      • I love your Throwbacks Tot!

      • Got something to say Totbox? So sorry! I thought I mentioned you. Super excitement was wizzing past me when I wrote this. Love your series man and I am REALLY sorry if I offended you. Was a quick comment and if I had spent more time to write it then:
        1) There would be less mistakes :p
        2) I would have actually commemorated you on how much I appreciate your series

I LOVE writing events and updates! You have heard some of my full ideas right? So I love exploring what could be added to the game. Your series is the perfect combination of my love to explore upcoming ideas and recapping the classics!
Thank you so much! Don’t judge the series by the likes or comments ever – If I did then my blog would be way dead by now – because trust me we all love it.
        Once again, really sorry 🙁

    • Well said about the Addicts.

I don’t deserve to be mentioned in the same post, but thank you none-the-less. Glad you enjoy the Bracket Battle. Hopefully others feel the same and I can bring my other three Brackets I was working on too in the future.

Just watched this episode the other night and was thinking how cool it would be to have Poison Lenny and the others. Maybe for Episode Three.

  6. Would an animated task where Franck Grimes electrocutes himself (in a cartoony way) on the high voltage transformer be too dark? Because there’s an opportunity there…

  7. “Snakes… why’d it have to be snakes.” Love it! 🐍😀
