Should You Buy Gil’s Radioactive Man Movie Set?

Updated with Audio from the Film Set Below

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Everyone’s favorite down on his luck salesman is back in Springfield!  Yes, that’s right Old Gil has returned to our towns and this time he’s got a heck of an “opportunity” for you!

Yes, during these final days of the Superhero Sequel Event Gil is rolling out the Radioactive Man movie set…you know the one where Radioactive Man gets swept up in a wave of acid.  Because hey…everyone else has gotten Super, why not Wolfcastle too?

This deal hit our games overnight, sorry I was busy snoozing…so let’s take a look at what happened while I was sleeping…

Gil

So when you first logged into your pocket sized Springfields this morning you may have noticed Gil waving his arms around (as if he was trying to land an airplane…) trying to get your attention. (please I beg ya, you gotta help me get this plane down) ..kinda like this:

Gil Kneeling

Either he’s trying to get your attention, or he just scored the winning goal the World Cup

Anyway….when you finally decide to tap on Old Gil he’ll give you his latest pitch for something you really don’t need…like those people at the electronic stores that try to sell you a $10 warranty on a $15 clock radio…

So now that I’ve gone completely off the rails…back to what Gil’s latest sales pitch…

Gil: Hey you, do you remember the epic acid scene from the Radioactive Man movie, starring Rainer Wolfcastle?  C’mon, you know the one…Fallout Boy’s missing and Radioactive Man gets swept up in a wave of acid?  Good Ol’ Gil’s got some good ol’ news for you!  The production company is going to re-shoot the scene from the director’s cut-a-rooni!  And for a very small cost, you’ll get to direct the scene yourself!  I’m sure Fallout Boy will show up this time…bad things never happen twice in Springfield…except for Ol’ Gil. Even if they do, you’ll get to see Rainier Wolfcastle suffer from acid injuries again and again! Don’t worry about him, he’s got a super-duper health insurance plan. And me…I rely on two boxes of Band-Aids and a carton of cough syrup.

If you refuse…

Gil: Well, suit yourself.  We’re not all cut out to be film directors.

If you accept….

Gil: hot diggety-dog-diggety-doo!  You’re not gonna regret it.  I’ll even throw in some “acid resistant” goggles….

And here’s everyone’s favorite…the Should I Buy portion of this post….

710px-Radioactive_Man_Movie_Set

Building: Radioactive Man Movie Set
Donut Price: 150 Donuts
Size: 9×20
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100
Earns: Earns $300, 30xp/12hrs

Leaves Stores on July 26th….

Pros:
-Comes with a questline, 1 part
-Animated always, acid bubbles..
-Wolfcastle has a permanent 30 minute (after questline is complete, prior to that it’s 6s)  task there with a visual animation (acid spills out on him)
-When task is complete the audio has Wolfcastles famous “my eyes” line (audio is below)

Cons:
-Massive in size, takes up a ton of room in Springfield
-Animation with Wolfcastle isn’t constant, really only happens when you finish the task
-Over priced for what it is/does

Final Thought:
Premium:
It’s ok but it’s not great.  Like most Gil deals it is over priced.  And honestly, I’m not that impressed with the animation.  It’s ok but it’s nothing to write home about.  It’s one of those premium splurges…if you like it and want it grab it.  Otherwise I’d save my money.

Freemium:
Don’t waste your donuts on this one.  It’s absurdly priced for what it is/does.  Save your donuts, save your time…save your sanity.  Avoid this one.

Of course in the end we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do, the final decision is up to you.  But I can tell you this is not in my Springfield, nor will it be in the near future.  Whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our stores on July 26th….

Here’s a look at the short questline that comes with it….

Acid Here Waiting for You
Wolfcastle starts

Wolfcastle: Ok, so the production company vants to re-shoot the acid scene.  This time, you von’t disappear, vill you?
Milhouse: Um… uh… no, you can count on me, I think…
Wolfcastle: My perfect butt vas so burned they had to use a stunt butt stand-in to finish the scene.  It burns me more knowing it’s not my butt on the big screen.
Milhouse: I completely understand… although not really.
Make Rainer Wolfcastle Re-Shoot the Acid Scene- 6s, Earns $50, 2xp
Make Milhouse Disappear Again- 8hrs, Earns $275, 70xp
Wolfcastle: Only Fallout Boy can save me now… … Oh, Mist, not again!
On job complete
Wolfcastle: Argh, Milhouse… you messed up again!
Milhouse: It’s too much pressure! I’m not a real hero, I’m just a kid.
Wolfcastle: Don’t beat yourself up. Let villains do that for you.

And here are a couple of screen grabs to kind of show you the animation…

  1. It’s really big. I regret buying it

  2. SailorAlphaCentauri

I went for this because I love that episode of the Simpsons. I get a kick out of the animation every time. Not as big a fan of the trailer, though. I don’t do 12 hour tasks that often, and I don’t pay attention to percentages. This purchase was worth it for me, but I like visuals so…

  3. When Gil offered this to me he mentioned he’d throw in the milhouse construe as well, hence why I bought it. Where’s the milhouse skin?

    • I didn’t see that as part of the deal since I already had the skin from previously. Per a reader here: “Buy the set. Wolfcastle and Milhouse will reshoot the acid scene: Wolfecastle gets a six second task, while Milhouse gets an 8 hour task to run and hide (yeah, it’s like that.) After finishing the 8 hour task, the Milhouse costume is unlocked. The sequence ends with a mention that if you wanted to give Milhouse another place he can hide, consider buying his trailer.” If this doesn’t happen for you, I’d contact EA.

  4. Does it come with Wolfcastle’s Radioactiveman premium skin? Read so in obe of the commentaries down below, but cannot find any information on it in the article.

  5. I can’t remember if I did post this or just dreamt it. A small request if possible Alyssa/Wookie/Bunny, if you guys do buy any purchasable item and you are doing the SIB can you put a pic of it in your town up to help get a better idea of it. I try to go through my neighbours towns looking to see if they have it though they never seem to.
    Thanks

  6. To each his own but this thing is HUGE! I don’t have the space or donuts to spare. I’m excited for new upcoming items so I’ll save my sprinkles 🙂

  7. Thanks for letting me know about this. Ya, I am not getting it. It looks ugly, I remember the scene from the episode but I don’t think they should have added it to the game…it doesn’t go with really anything besides the studio buildings or the other “set” pieces. If you don’t have those…it’ll look bad pretty much everywhere in your towns.

  8. It is huge, it was a lot of donuts and I don’t like looking at it! When I don’t buy something, I end up seeing someone creating a really cool design with the item I passed up… I’m still pouting because I messed Norte Dame 😆 I need to go to TSTO Anonymous… SO ADDICTED!

  9. It was an amusing scene in the episode but I’ll pass.

  10. I’d like to add it to my studio back-lot area, but seems hugely overpriced for what it does. The payout for the task is nice, but I don’t have time to keep sending a character on a 6s task.

  11. Btw, im a pre/free player, and i love these posts, ill be passin on this lol

  12. Hmm, I’m actually quite tempted for this one because the set goes well with Death Mountain, and having a 6-second premium task/skin for Wolfcastle is a great addition on top of Moog and Astronaut Homer. Plus 150 donuts for a building and premium skin is hardly the worst Gil deal we’ve seen.

But I already caved in and bought P-Rex yesterday, and I’m keeping the remaining donuts I have for a sale for Uter and Dewey Largo to help out with the weekly rail yard grind.

  13. Thanks for the write up. I wasn’t sure about this one, but I think I’m going to pass now. BTW, minor error in the article, it states the offer is leaving the game on June 29th, obviously that is supposed to be July.

  14. Passing on this for sure. Pondering the trailer that showed up in the store, though. Anyone know if it has a multiplier?
