Totbox’s Throwback Thursday: S1 E12 Krusty Gets Busted

Enjoy this installment of Throwback Thursday with Totbox!- Alissa

Greetings Illiterates, Wait a minute! You’re not illiterate… You are an imposter, You Are Really… *pulling your mask off* (Gasp/jinkies) A READER!!!! … Greetings to you too. 🙂

Mistaken identity and frame jobs have been around since time began… I mean, CRIME began (which was a long time ago) ;p so the first detectives were born!! Sherlock Stones and Watsand (or was that just an episode of the Flintstones? Who is to say the Simpsons are not the Flintstones or the Honeymooners’ Kramdens?) But I degress… Where was I? I have no CLUE…. OH Yes! It was I, talking/writing to YOU, in the POST, with a candlestick (or Tablet). It is all very mysterious. … Or is it?

Read on… (Suspenseful pause, followed by intimidating voice) If you dare (and I’ll probably drop the whole goofy detective narrator thing) :p

“Krusty Gets Busted”

Krusty has been framed many times (as a poster for kids bedrooms) but this time it’s a jury that thinks he’s a little crooked. :p

April 29th 1990, the 12th episode of The Simpsons.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING:

Kent Brockman’s first physical appearance (also voiced), Judge Snyder and the Court House. Sideshow Bob voiced (which is the essence of the character).

There are also things that appeared for the first time that Could come into TSTO in the future maybe. OH THE POSSIBILITIES:

Possible Skins:

“Classic” Sideshow Bob outfit, like what Sideshow Mel wears on the show (I guess I could have mentioned it on his first appearance but I didn’t want EA to think I meant his first look), Sideshow Bob as Krusty Robber, and yes another Sideshow Bob skin “Bathrobe Bob” (Barefoot). Hey Hey, maybe also Vintage Mime Krusty skin as seen in the file photo at the bottom left of the collage.

Possible Events: Clowning around event (clown college? Any one else thought we’d see a return of the clown-wig-wearing-felons?), Krusty Merchandising mini-event, Krusty Show sidekick/sideshow event, Mystery/detective Event (not needing to be related to this episode per se, maybe more of a Who Shot Mr. Burns Mystery). ;p

Characters and Things I didn’t mention because I personally have no interest in them joining the game Don’t Mention It: Scott Christian (Kent’s understudy reporter) and other reporters. District Attorney and other Court related people, Sideshow Bob’s aide and merchandisers, other police and police line-up clowns, kids and spectators (including the birthday girl whom is Not Britney Brockman).

some Highlights:

(quite a bit more) other things to think about:

I realize I didn’t mention anything about Krusty out of makeup yet and that is because I needed a better category such as this one to bring it up. In Season 4, Krusty admits “This Ain’t Makeup!!” And even in Season 7, Rory B. Bellows (which is a skin I’d rather have than Sad Prison Krusty), his yellow (face) skin-tone washed away SO that means somewhere between this episode and season 4 Krusty had some sort of Pigmentation operation.

One of Krusty’s catchphrases is “I didn’t do it” which Bart would become famous for using in Season 5. Also we all know that Tv programs go from one network to another (sometimes) but at this time The Krusty the Clown Show was not on Channel 6 (they had a clown that wasn’t seen named Hobo Hank, but Hobo Hank has not been seen in the series but is visual in a book called “The Krusty Book” that was published in 2006). Obviously at some point Krusty’s show was picked up/moved to Channel 6 later on.

Homer mentions the new flavor “Triple Chocolate Ice Cream” which I know by now we have Quadruple Chocolate Ice Cream (if not more).

Lastly you might have noticed Krusty’s prison uniform has A113 on it which is a popular Easter-egg amongst animators since that is a Classroom number from the California Institute of the Arts. You can find it in Other episodes of The Simpsons and many of them in Disney Movies and also in Every Pixar Film. I originally thought it was “All 3” but nope it is A 113 (and variations of it). I’m not going to mention them in future episodes but you’re welcome to point them out or Write a full a post about them yourself. :p

Do you remember this episode? What was your favorite moment? Any of the Possibilities that you Really do/don’t like? Do you have a crazy amount of images and merchandise of someone or some thing that you collected? Do you remember your childhood hero? Ever been behind bars? Can you imagine a world without Sideshow Bob? Sound off in the comments and have a Krusteriffic journey back to your current space/time 🙂

  1. I have no idea where to post this, but why does it tell me I am losing the battles that I play in my own town, when I know for a fact that I am winning them?

  2. So the birthday girl is a different Britney, not Britney Brockman? Is she perhaps Britney Spears, the girl who presented the oldest man in Springfield award?

  3. I love everything about this post!!! All the ideas are inspired. The Clown College episode is one of my favorites:

M: “More potatoes, Homie? (doo doo doo-doo-doo-doo doo doo doo doo)”
H: “That’s it! You’ve all stood in my way long enough! I’m going to clown college.”
B: “I don’t think any of us expected him to say that…”

I like the Rory B. Bellows skin for Krusty. Very interesting. Could tie it in with Sea Captain and squid port somehow. Plus we’d get to see Krusty’s pacemaker scar. Anyway, this post reminded me that EA has a veritable treasure trove at their finger tips. I don’t care how many characters and storylines they’ve released so far, there’s still so much more they can do to pay homage to the best animated series of all time 🙂

    • PS I hope I proved my literacy. I tried to use big words like “doo” and “the”. And let’s not forget “doo-doo” 😉

    • ++++ on this post. I was thinking of Rory today as I was thinking of more boats or ships for our ocean. Providing. We get a couple more strips of ocean.
