Where Did THAT Come From – Fossil Fuel Four, Citizen Solar and Wind Lad

Faster than an event speeding donut spender! More powerful than a local Addict! Able to leap long comment threads in a single bound! Look! Up in the TSTO-niverse! It’s a building! It’s a decoration! It’s Superheroes 2016!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

Leaping leptons! So of all the posts to be written for the 2016 TSTO Superheroes Sequel, this one was the hardest for me for the sole reason that I had to wait a long time to share info with all of you.  Charcoal Briquette just had to be held off until Issue 3.  But the wait is over.  I know a lot of people shared my Petroleus Rex WDTCF but I figured I’d do one again to knock out six origins with one fell swoop.  No surprise, they all come from the same episode.

Old King Coal – 7th Act One Prize – 52,950 Brass Knuckles
Windlad & Citizen Solar – 130 donuts
The Fracker – Issue 2 – 120 donuts
Charcoal Briquette – Issue 3 Crafting Item released July 13th– 4000 Trading Cards
Petroleus Rex – originally offered during 2015 Superheroes, then for 175 donuts in Issue 1 of 2016 Superheroes Sequel

“Married to the Blob” (S25:E10)

This episode kicks right off with panels from a Radioactive Man comic which revert to live action animation. RM is keeping a lonely vigil in the skies of Zenith City and considering getting takeout from China when he gets a sky tweet from Commissioner Sweeney. “This looks like a job for @RadioactiveMan_01.”

Someone got RM’s rightful twitter handle before him lol. He’s off to a burning Nuclear Plant (“the Nation’s safest Energy Source”) where he comes across the Fossil Fuel Four.

You know them now as Old King Coal, Petroleus Rex, French Femme Fatale Charcoal Briquette, and The Fracker.

Leaping leptons! Radioactive Man is outnumbered so he calls Citizen Solar and Wind Lad to help him out. Unfortunately they are lacking in energy because it’s too cloudy for Citizen Solar and people don’t like the noise Wind Lad makes.

Radioactive Man tries to fight the Fossil Fuel Four.

Alas, but he us no match for them. Holy hadrons!

Death of Radioactive Man by Fossil Fuel Four Simpsons

In the end, he dies which was very surprising for Bart Simpsons even if he was reading The Death of Radioactive Man. “Die Carumba.” No fear though… like most popular comic book character, he’s back in a New #1.

All in all, I found this to be a really fun segment since we don’t often see Radioactive Man in action. Even better, they appear later making them canon. In “Opposites A-Frack” (S26:E5), these characters appear as Radioactive Man Re-Rises action figures in the Android’s Dungeon.

The Wind Lad action figure shows up later in “I Won’t Be Home for Christmas” (S26:E9).  Comic Book Guy is showing his beloved Kumiko the 1978 Cosmic Wars Holiday Special aka “the Worst. Half hour of television. Ever.”  WInd Lad is right next to CBG’s Mulk and Thung bookends.

So there you go friends.  The origin for the Fossil Fuel Four, Citizen Solar, and Wind Lad. Sorry that I had to wait until Bastille Day to finalize it for every one but it is what it is. Sound off with your thoughts and opinions and keep it classy interwebs.

  1. I found an extra bonut glitch, got disconnected as I got my 3 donuts, when I reconnected again I get to have another chance to get another 3 donuts. So 6 bonuts all in all!

    • I tried it again and it worked!!! I wonder if I keep on disconnecting will I get more bonuts? Will try again tomorrow

    • update: you can do it twice but if you do it the third time you will lose your 2nd batch of bonuts

  2. I really want to complete my Fossil Fuel Four? But can’t see paying that much for the Fracker when I got Wind Lad and Citizen Solar for a meager 130 donuts….

  3. I hope the WDTCF post for Dead Lobster doesn’t take too long to get up, since it only appeared in the background of one episode (“E. Pluribus Wiggum”), just like the Nature Bundle Greenhouse from a while back.

Speaking of Dead Lobster, I hope there’s a Fast Food Boulevard event some day. It would be amusing to see people having a building called “We Have Restrooms!” in their Springfields.

  4. As a huge superheroes fan, I’m so glad I could afford to complete the Fossil Fuel four collection this year.

    • As a freemium I only have half and I’m ok with that.

Maybe next year or a year or two when they do the next reboot, I might get another (as long as they don’t anything better at that time).

    • But wouldn’t it be so much better if Stampy had a “Save Homer” task at the tar pits?!?!? Hilarious animations we’ll never get to see…..

    • I had to choose between The Fracker and the Windlad & Citizen Solar duo. Being a nerd myself u chose the duo. A duo beats a single character too.

  5. I have a few things to ask:
    1) Are you going to change the banner back?
    2) On the showoff post did you get the images as they aren’t showing up?
    3) Did you get my email?
Sorry for the irrelevance to this post!

    Relevant comment:
Great post as usual! It kind off annoys me that EA adds characters from small clips (eg. Wind Lad and Citizen Solar, Scoutsmaster) but don’t add characters that have been in numerous (eg. Wendell, Alice Glick, Jacques)! Anyone agree? Hilarious combo I just wish that they appeared, at least a little background cameo – like Milo did, in more episodes
