Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s time to gear up for the summer games in Springfield! Gather up those participation ribbons and be prepared for the fix to be in from Fat Tony, as we journey through the wonderful world of “sports” with the residents of our pocket-sized Springfields!
Of course, as with all events, a questline comes with it to help move us through the ins and outs of the event…and unlock all of the prizes. As was mentioned on the rundown post this mini event is similar to the previous mini-events (like Homer’s Chiliad and the Fire Department before it), in that you’ve got to complete various tasks to unlock the prizes.
So let’s take a look at the questline to see just how to unlock all the fun Olympic inspired prizes and be the best darn participant you can be…
Before we get into the walkthrough there are a couple of things I want to point out…
1) You have to be at Level 20 AND have Quimby/Town Hall unlocked to see this event.
2) Ribbons (
) do NOT carry over to the next part. So if you over collect for part 1, it will not carry over to part 2. You’ll start part to back at 0 Ribbons. (at least this is how it worked for me today…)
and
3) Yes, in part 1 of Springfield Games you can send ALL Springfielders…because that’s the task at hand. You will not be able to send all Springfielders for each part.

Once completed you’ll unlock the ability to bet at the Go-Kart Track. Once every 8hrs you can place your bet, just like you do at the Dog Track..
You’ll also see this popup when you’re done, which is new…
Your game will reload and open back up with the Prize Track gone. I think they started doing this to eliminate the issues with some characters still earning event currency…

Go-Kart Racing
Fat Tony: Fixing children’s Go-Kart Races. This is almost as low as when we held that baby’s nose hostage for weeks. You there, you look like a smart lad. You’re going to throw this race in the third lap.
Martin: That’s cheating! I refuse. It’s man’s code of ethics that separates us from the animals.
Fat Tony: Do it or I’ll break your legs.
Martin: Caving on your principles out of fear is another thing that separates us from the animals.
Place a Bet on a Go-Kart Race- It’ll cost $5,000 to bet. And just like the dog track each one has different Odds…and they’ll change odds to racer each time you do it
Here’s a taste of the dialogue…
Fat Tony: I’m glad you came around to my way of thinking, kid.
Martin: I didn’t mean to use! I thought I was sure to win with trigonometry on my side. I guess math isn’t the steroid I thought it was.
Fat Tony: Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night. For me, it’s a white noise machine.
And that’s it! All there is to the main prize track for the Springfield Games!

This still appears for some of my characters. Like it still wants Milhouse and Bart and homer to train for the go kart races or compete in the decodathon, how do I get the yellow task to disappear from the top of my characters’ task list?

So I’ve just been betting on the 49:1 racer… And I just won the 2.5 million!! I screen shot it but don’t know if I can attach a pic.

Okay, now that I’ve unlocked the Go-Karts and have confirmed that you get 50XP for losing, here’s what the payouts for each of the bets looks like:
For the 2:1 bet:
– 66.23% chance of winning $15,000 and 100XP
– 33.77% chance of winning $0 and 50XP
– Expected Payout = $9,934 + 83XP
For the 9:1 bet:
– 19.87% chance of winning $50,000 and 150XP
– 80.13% chance of winning $0 and 50XP
– Expected Payout = $9,934 + 70XP
For the 19:1 bet:
– 9.93% chance of winning $100,000 and 250XP
– 90.08% chance of winning $0 and 50XP
– Expected Payout = $9,934 + 70XP
For the 49:1 bet:
– 3.97% chance of winning $2,500,000(!) and 500XP
– 96.03% chane of winning $0 and 50XP
– Expected Payout = $99,338 + 68XP
So, it the payout table on the screencaps is *ACTUALLY* what the game pays ($2.5 Million on a $5k bet at 49:1 odds?? Really!), then playing the 49:1 longshot will yield TEN TIMES as much cash on a per-bet basis. The XP payout for the top three bets are all in the 68-70 range, though techincally you’ll get slightly more XP in the long run (2.9% more) betting the 9:1 or 19:1 rather than the 49:1. But frankly, I feel that having a 10x better Dollar payout is worth the 2XP you lose out on by playing the 49:1 bet.
Of course, there’s every chance to believe that EA made a mistake on the odds screen and that the actual payout coded into the game is $250K, not $2.5M. If that’s the case, then it doesn’t matter which bet you make becuase in the long run they all pay out the same $9,934. If that turns out to be true, then you’ll want to bet the 2:1 bet every time to maximize your XP.
But until that’s been shown, I’m betting the 49:1 Go-Kart every single time. 🙂

That was fun ! So it must have been bad.
I hadn’t read the blog until the end in order not to be spoiled, and was happily surprised to see that the kart circuit is now an equivalent to Springfield Downs. I want more of such buildings ! I like having sources of revenues that are mini-games based on chance 😛
When you complete the prize track and the game reloads, do we loose the premium items in the store as well? I’m holding off completing the event until I have got all the premium items I’m interested in.
A side question, If I buy a second lot of flags, are they duplicates or a whole new set of 30 countries?
Also, now that springy is a premium item, is it still just a npc? ( no quests/bonus % etc)

Apologies for the delay but was waiting to finish the quest in my game to verify the answer. My premium offerings are still available and as of this writing, expire in a little more than 8 days. You get the same flags every time. Springy remains an NPC.
