Should I Spend Donuts On Springfield Games 2016 Returning Stuff? (Lugash Deal, Flags, Springy and more!)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s time to gear up for the summer games in Springfield!  Gather up those participation ribbons and be prepared for the fix to be in from Fat Tony, as we journey through the wonderful world of “sports” with the residents of our pocket-sized Springfields!  So bust out those donuts because Fat Tony’s got the “goods” for us to buy in a store full of sport themed premium items!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add any of the returning premium items to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding these sport themed items to your town!

As I’ve done with recent events, and their returning items, this is more or less going to be a rundown of each item.  Each item is returning (or already in Springfield) and we’ve previously written info about each.  I’ll give you my quick opinion on them (let you know if it’s changed since originally posting.  Or the current price changes my mind) and then link to their older posts… .

Is it Worth the Donuts: This was a pass for me in 2015 and it’s still a pass for me now.  It’s just another premium building for Springfield…you’re better off saving your donuts for premium characters.

Highlights: Decorations for Springfield.  Some animation with them, nothing spectacular though.
Is It Worth the Donuts: No.  I didn’t recommend these items last time around, and I won’t recommend them again this time.  I’d save my donuts and pass on this bundle.

Gym_Locker_Mystery_Box

Item: Gym Locker Mystery Box
Contains: If you don’t already have…Jockey Bart & Furious D, Tennis Marge, Ballet Ralph, Kung Fu Comic Book Guy & Toreador Grampa
Donut Price: 75 Donuts/try
Previous Price: Tennis Marge, Kung Fu Comic Book Guy & Ballet Ralph were all freee.  Jockey Bart & Furious D were 100 donuts, Toreador Grampa was 85 donuts.  All are from Tap Ball 2015.
Highlights: No duplicates.  So if you don’t have something you’ll possibly get it from this mystery box.  The downside is..if you only want 1 item (like Jockey Bart and Furious D, for example), you could end up with the other.  It’s a random chance box.
Is It Worth the Donuts?: IF you don’t have Bart & Furious D…and only them…yes.  It’s a good deal for TWO premium characters.  If you’re missing a bunch, I personally don’t think it’s worth it.  But you’d have to take a look at each breakdown post and decide if it’s worth spending donuts for you….the only one I think is worth the donuts is the Bart/Furious D combo.  Everything else is a donut pass for me…

Lugash Lugash's_Gym_Tapped_Out

Combo: Lugash and Lugash’s Gym
Donut Price: 175 donuts, Rebate Offered for Springfield Games of 40 donuts.  So net 137 donuts.
Earns: Premium character earns 50% more cash and XP on all tasks.  Gym earns $135,15xp/4hrs.
Is It Worth the Donuts?: Whenever there’s a rebate/discount on something you guys always ask if my opinion on the character changes with the price change.  9 times out of 10, it does not.  And this case is no different.  Lugash still isn’t worth it to me…even with the 40 donuts you get back.  I’d pass.  (incidentally I do own him, but that’s because I got him during Whacking Day 2013…)

And there you have it my friends…my thoughts and the breakdown on each of the returning premium items for Springfield Games 2016!

Of course, in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you that I own some of these and I’ve passed on others.  But whatever you decide just remember these are limited time (Lugash will remain but the rebate will not) and will be leaving our games once the event ends.  So if you’re thinking about grabbing one of these do so before they leave our games on the 16th!

What are your thoughts on the returning premium items?  Any you’ve picked up this time around?  Have any from previous events?  Where have you placed them in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I bought the flag bundle a couple of days ago and dumped them from inventory all in front of a building so I could leisurely decide where they should go. Selected the British flag today and dragged it to the Britannia casino. Weirdly, while dragging I couldn’t see it, but clicked to set it and it was still invisible. Tried with another flag, saw that as soon as it was selected the flag portion (not the pole) turned invisible and decided not to sacrifice any more flags. The British flag is still counted as in my town, according to the bonus counter. But what happened to it and how do I get it back and how do I move the rest?!? Has this happened to anybody else?

  2. Thanks for the info about the world flag bundle – I was trying to figure out if there was anything good to spend my donuts on (I am a TOTAL freemium player – have never spent a dime on this game) to boost my bonus. A mere 50 donuts for a 7.5% boost is indeed AWESOMESAUCE, and it makes my Springfield Olympics venue feel more complete. Thanks!

  3. I’m stuck. I bought the Pro Shop during Homer’s Chilliad and have been pondering golf course options without success. And now we have a golf course. But I don’t want any of the other items in the bundle and consider the price a little steep. What to do, what to do…

  4. If you had 300 doughnuts (and farming 300 doughnuts every ten days), with a current multiplier of 362%, and having bought two flag bundles already, would you recommend buying more flag bundles? I don’t have any problems earning a lot of doughnuts these days, and there are still a number of characters and buildings that I would like to buy. I’m beginning to wonder if boosting my % multiplier any higher is pointless and counter productive?

    Thoughts?

  5. WoooHOOOOO! 50/50 gamble on Furious D vs. Toreador Abe paid off!!! I would have been super bummed if I’d wasted 75 donuts to get another premium skin for Grandpa. I barely remember to put him in the Stonecutter outfit as it is.

  6. Oh yeah, thanks to Onderhond and Catselale for recommending the flag purchase the other day! 🙂

  7. I really really want that horse too but I missed the whole event of tap ball last year so I know I have little chance of getting that bundle since I don’t already have any of the prizes, not bothered about the skin since I have bartman tho.

  8. Thank you a lot for this post Alissa!

I wasn’t interested in Lugash since I thought he was just a hard Russian stereotype like Red in OITNB. He just didn’t seem interesting to me and there are a lot of premium characters I want before I’d even consider buying him, plus the rebate was meh.

I purchased the flags last week and they are an incredible deal, gunna buy a couple more packs to buff up my %.

In your post on the gym locker and on the should I buy for the boxing ring the link just goes to where did it come from, just wanted to let you know that little mistake.

Thanks for the post Alissa 🙂

I bought it… I bought it all, I couldn’t help myself, even the locker with the one item I didn’t have, Toreador Abe’s skin. Every time I visit a neighbor & see something I passed on, I end up saying I’d better get it while I can lol.

  10. So I’m guessing that if you have Furious D/Jockey Bart and Toreador Grampa but not the others, you’d get 1 of the others and not a repeat, right?

  11. Alex - aabcampos2

After the patch all gym locker skins became premium. Fair.

    • Josephine Kick@$$

I was pleasantly surprised to see Marge was earning premium in her cute little tennis outfit 😊

  12. So I have all already except Tennis Marge and Abe. I kind of want Tennis Marge but don’t know if I should take the gamble. I have 348 donuts currently. Is it worth it??

    • At most it’ll cost you 150 donuts for 2 skins (1 of which will make Grampa a premium character)…personally I have both and never use either (mostly because I forget). These days it’s pretty easy to earn the free donuts, especially doing Monorail and Daily Challenges…so it’s worth it at least once. I think anyway…

    • I didn’t like that I didn’t earn Marge’s Tennis outfit during Tapball, especially since she has so few skins compared to the other nuclear Simpson family. Out of the 50/50 chance of getting Toreador grandpa or Tennis Marge, I sadly drew the option I didn’t care for, but EA got me in I then had a %100 chance of getting my desired skin for another 75 donuts and I went for it. 150 donuts is still far less than I would have had to pay to purchase her skin during the event (that sentence sounds so wrong out of context) I’m ok with it now that I have something I was not happy to have missed out on previously. Best of Luck!
