Springfield Games 2016 Prize Breakdown: Go-Karts and Betting

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s time to gear up for the summer games in Springfield!  Gather up those participation ribbons and be prepared for the fix to be in from Fat Tony, as we journey through the wonderful world of “sports” with the residents of our pocket-sized Springfields!

This event, like others before it, is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes.  For parts 1 through 6 of the Springfield Games questline you’ll have to earn ico_cur_springfieldgames_ribbon_lg_1 via various characters tasks in order to unlock the prize for each part.  Some prizes are game related decorations, while others are animations or tasks for a building.

So let’s take a look at the last 2 rounds of prizes..and just what happens when you unlock them in your Springfield…

To find the details on the first 4 prizes check out the first prize rundown post we did here.

So we’ve broken down just HOW to unlock the last two prizes in our Turbo Tappin’ Walkthrough post, but for those who don’t remember (or don’t really want to go back and read ;)) here are the quick details:

Now a lot of you are having some problems with that last prize.  The prize track says “building” at the top.  But it’s not a building.  If you look a little further down, where it says reward, you’ll see it says “Go-Kart Betting”.  The Reward is correct..the wording above the icon is not:

2016-08-03 14.50.48

So here’s the deal….once you’ve unlocked Go-Kart betting you’re going to get a popup from the game saying you’ve finished the event and you need to reload your game to continue:

2016-08-03 14.52.41

Once you do this the event specific items in your store WILL NOT be removed from the game.  They’ll stick around until the 16th (trust me EA wouldn’t cut short your chance to spend sprinkles…at least not intentionally.)  The reload is just EA’s way of preventing some issues we’ve seen in the past, where characters can still earn event currency…with no purpose.

And you’ll see this message from Fat Tony…

2016-08-03 14.52.37

You’ll have to tap on the Go-Kart Track to start this next part…

Go-Kart Racing

Fat Tony: Fixing children’s Go-Kart Races.  This is almost as low as when we held that baby’s nose hostage for weeks.  You there, you look like a smart lad.  You’re going to throw this race in the third lap.
Martin: That’s cheating!  I refuse.  It’s man’s code of ethics that separates us from the animals.
Fat Tony: Do it or I’ll break your legs.
Martin: Caving on your principles out of fear is another thing that separates us from the animals.
Place a Bet on a Go-Kart Race- It’ll cost $5,000 to bet.

And here’s the deal after you complete it once.  Every 8hrs you’ll have the ability (provided you unlocked the betting) to bet on a race at the track. (And it’s great because it animates the track cars)  If you see this icon:

indicator_springfieldgames_gokartbettingready_1

You can bet.

You can bet on different racers:

menu_gokartbetting_white_1 menu_gokartbetting_red_1 menu_gokartbetting_pink_1 menu_gokartbetting_blue_1

Each racer, just like at the Dog Track, will appear in a different order each time.  And just like the dog track each one has different Odds…and they’ll change odds to racer each time you do it.

Here’s a quick break down of the payout and odds for each slot:

Slot Odds Payout
1 2-1 $15,000
2 9-1 $50,000
3 19-1 $100,000
4 49-1 $2,500,000

Sometimes the Red Racer will be in Slot 1, sometimes it’ll be Blue and so on.  They’ll never appear in the same order.

Remember…this is fun, so don’t take it too seriously.  If you like Red, always bet on the Red Racer.  If you like to try and win every time always bet on slot 1.  No real skill behind it…and no real money exchanging hands.  It’s all just for good F-U-N. 🙂

So now that i’ve broken down betting, let me quickly breakdown the Go-Kart Track itself…Here’s a look at the quick facts of the Go-Kart Track

Go-Kart_Track

Item: Go-Kart Track
Size:
8×12
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +200
Earns: IF you unlock betting, the 5th prize, you can potentially earn from it every 8hrs by betting on a racer.  If you do not unlock betting, it will earn currency and XP, $75, 7xp/3hrs.  (Again it DOES NOT earn money regularly for collection if you’ve unlocked betting)
What Does it Do: If you’ve unlocked betting it’s just like the Dog Track.  You bet and it animates.  If you do not unlock betting it’s just a building for Springfield.  It sits there and looks pretty 😉

And here’s a fun “short” video of the betting because, well I’m a glutton for punishment and I know how much y’all love the sound of my voice..hahaha

And there you have it my friends…the details on the final two Olympic Prizes…and the gambling addiction they may cause 😉

What are your thoughts on the final two prizes?  Underwhelming or cool?  Personally, I think this is the best prize of the event, how about you? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. It’s Kinda not even worthwhile now they lowered the 2 M down to like 20k I won about 6 M before patch 🙁

  2. The most recent patch update “fixed” the payout at the Go-Kart Track. The final slot, which used to pay out $2.5M, now pays $250K. This makes a huge difference to your betting strategy. Before, it was a no-brainer to bet Slot 4. Now… well… here’s the math.

    For the Money Payouts, it now makes NO DIFFERENCE which car you bet on, because the expected return on all 4 are exactly the same:

    * SLOT 1 advertises 2:1 odds but has a 66.2% chance of winning (actually 66.2252%). If you win, you’ll get $15000. 66.2252% x 15000 – 5000 (your initial bet) leaves you with a profit of $4900
    * SLOT 2 advertises 9:1 odds, has a 19.9% chance of winning, which gets you $50,000 x 19.8675% – 5000 = $4934
    * SLOT 3, 19:1, 9.9%… $100,000 x 9.9338% – 5000 = $4934
    * SLOT 4, 49:1, 4.0%…. $250,000 x 3.9735% – 5000 = $4934

    From an XP perspective, the payouts are dramatically different:
    * SLOT 1, 2:1 66.2% chance of 100XP for winning + 33.8% chance of 50XP for losing. 66.2252% x 100 + 33.7748% x 50 = 83 XP
    * SLOT 2, 9:1, 19.9%… 19.8675% x 150 + 80.1325% x 50 = 70 XP
    * SLOT 3, 19:1, 9.9%… 9.9338% x 250 + 90.0662% x 50 = 70 XP
    * SLOT 4, 49:1, 4.0%… 3.9735% x 500 + 96.0265% x 50 = 68 XP

    All 4 slots pay the same cash, but Slot 1 pays more XP (about 20% more than the other 3, which pay approximately the same). So, you should play Slot 1 every time.

  3. I missed this event! Is there anyway to get the go karts still?

  4. I’ve been lucky on the go carts. I’ve won three times in less than a week. One of those times I paid by donuts by accident.

  5. These games are finished but my Simpson characters still show jobs for this. I have updated the game and now have the space themed Springfield. Is there a reason that my characters still have jobs for the race track?

  6. I bet on the red racer when it was at 49-1. It says I lost and the red racer won damn game cheated me.

  7. I won 2.5 million with my first bet. The odds for the big prize are 49:1, which are better than the big prize at the dog races at 99:1, and the big payout from the dog races is only 200k. So I’m betting big at the go-karts each time, because it’s half the risk and 2500% the reward. PS i don’t really understand math

  8. Fiendish Thingy

    I wish I hadn’t unlocked betting on the go carts, because now the only way to see the animation for just a few seconds is to waste $5000. I put the track, along with the podium, in storage. The pins and the dancing Russian potato were the only worthwhile items in this mini event.

  9. I always do the dog races and go karts every 8 hours, I’d never pay donuts to race again. I always do the bet with the biggest prize too lol

  10. I wonder if you bet on driver number 4 when you get to quest
    “Place a Bet on a Go-Kart Race- It’ll cost $5,000 to bet. ” is it a safe bet as it looks like you are destined to win first bet.

  11. BOOM!

    Don’t hate the playa, hate the game.

  12. For going alongside the biennial event of the Olympics, I’m a bit disappointed in this event. I wish they would have done something more. But I enjoyed the story and the prizes. It’s nice to have something else to bet on. I was hoping they’d keep more betting options after the casino event.

  13. I won the 2.5 million before I’m actually more lucky in go kart racing betting than Springfield downs dog race also I liked the video alissa

    • Well, you should be more lucky at go kart than Springfield Downs, since the top go kart odds are 49:1 and the top SD odds are 99:1! So, theoretically, we should win at the go karts longest odds twice as often as we win at the SD longest odds.

  14. I always bet on slot 4. 2.5 is a large sum of money especially compared to the others. If you hit it just once out of 100 tries it will be worth it. I Haven’t hit it yet though but I’m going to keep betting on it until I do.

    • I’m pretty sure that was a goof on EA’s part, because that’s a full 10 times more than it should be.

      • it’s not a goof. it’s exactly as it should be!

      • I’m sure it is an error. All other odds at the Go Karts and all odds at Springfield Downs have an expected ROI of $0, and a payout on the 49-1 odds of 250,000 (instead of 2,500,000) would return the same profit. Enjoy it while it lasts!

  15. what is it about American voices? I love it! Without sounding creepy: I could listen to you a lot! Such a nice voice and a perfect rundown!
    Can you read me a bedtime story? He he he
    The Hobbit is a favourite 😊

  16. Alissa,I just love your voice.It is so nice and you sound younger.

  17. This is the first time I watched one of your videos Alissa. And I must say you have a nice voice. Thanks for the explanation.

  18. There should be two more racers, in my opinion.

  19. I’ll try to post a picture of the logic, but it is much more lucrative over the course of 100 events to always bet on slot 4. Over 100 events, it will cost $500,000 to bet. Based on odds, slot one will win 50 times with a total payout of $750,000. Net profit $250,000. Slot two will win 10 times with a total payout of $500,000. Net profit zero! Slot three will win five times with a total payout of $500,000. Net profit zero! Slot four will win twice with total payout of $5,000,000. Net profit $4,500,000. If you can stand losing 98 times and only winning twice, Slot 4 is the way to go.

    • Has anyone actually won the $2.5M yet and confirmed that amount of a payout? I’ve bet there maybe 8-10 times so far, but haven’t won yet. I’m thinking that maybe there is a extra zero, and the payout is $250,000, which is in line with the other prizes.

      If the payout is really $2.5M, then it’s a no-brainer to only play Slot 4.

      • I bet on the long odds the first time when it was part of the quest, and it did indeed pay out 2.5 million in-game $$. I was actually curious if the bet as part of the quest line always wins or if I was just lucky.

      • Great point, I didn’t think about the potential a zero was erroneously added. If you are right, it aligns the go-cart highest payout roughly with the dog track. I plan to keep playing Slot 4 in the hopes the payout is really $2.5Mil!

      • My friend did and it was glorious. He bought the Writer’s House and a lot of land!

      • Yup, I won. And I’m pretty sure it was 2.5M, but, to be honest, I was so surprised to have won, that I didn’t pay total attention to that.

    • You’re right about the best bet being slot four, but your calculation on slot one is wrong: 2-1 odds means you’ll win one in three times betting on slot one (not one in two) so your payout over 100 games will be $500,000 and your profit will be $0. In fact, all betting options (at the Go Karts and at Springfield Downs) have an expected net profit of zero except for slot four at the Go Karts. Hooray for typos in this instance and say thank you to some poor staffer at EA for the extra zero in the payout which means there is actually a profit to be made on this option. For every other choice (Go Karts and Springfield Downs) the only actual benefit is in the XP received with each bet – given the odds you’re paying the same amount for the win as the prize is worth.

  20. techbearseattle

    I find the betting pretty pointless: I already have everything in the Store that I want, and almost all of the new stuff that comes out with events have required doughnuts to buy, not cash. I already have a huge pile of money and there is nothing to spend it on.

    • The track pays out XP whether you win or lose, so the benefit is at least 50 XP every 8 hours (losing payout), and maybe as much as 500 XP (49-1 payout). Much better than the 7 XP in 3 hours you’d get if you stopped playing the event before unlocking the betting option. If you’ve money with no outlet the valuable currency is XP as it contributes to collecting doughnuts with levelling up.

      • AND of course, you could use all that money to farm for donuts. So complaining that everything requires donuts and you have nothing to spend your cash on is nonsense – spend it on donuts to buy the other stuff!

        • Yep, totally agree. This is what I am doing with my huge pile of cash– spend five donuts on the collider 24 hour 5x multiplier and farm a ton of donuts and level upgrades with the bloodmobiles. Kind of pointless to have a huge amount of in-game cash just sitting there and complaining about nothing to spend on.

        • What do u mean by farm for donuts?

    • A huge pile of money? Convert it to donuts!
