“Simpson and Delilah”
Homer’s problem isn’t that he is bald but the fact he isn’t bold
This is not the Biblical story of Samson and his hair, it is about Homer and his newly grown follicles. But you know what they say “Hair today, Bald tomorrow” (or something like that). Enjoy this (Season 2 episode 2) 15th episode of The Simpsons which premiered October 18th 1990.

There are also characters and items that appeared for the first time that Could come into TSTO in the future maybe. OH THE POSSIBILITIES:
Some previously requested Characters: Homer’s assistant Karl (since he was voiced by Harvey Fierstein it is unlikely he would be voiced), also Jake (the Barber).
Possible Skins: Homer with Hair (which he had a couple different styles) and Fantasy Beatnik Bart (great for a Jazz Event, or Beatnik event)
Possible NPCs: Anniversary (singing telegram) man
Possible Events: climbing the corporate ladder event (meh), Miracle Cure mini-event, Unique Hair (skins) event with Snake’s evil hair? Or just an Infomercial Craze event with all kinds of stuff. If this episode aired recently the Dimoxinil commercial would have a lengthy list of side effects. In this episode Mr. Burns tells Homer that he is only 81 years old (which may have been a lie), but as we know as the series goes on his age seems to increase greatly.

I think my favorite moment was (seen on the bottom right of the Highlight collage) when Smithers tossed the towel to the floor and a cowering staff member ran to pick it up as if he wasn’t worthy of any other task, bowing as he walked away, added with the shot of the Black and White checkered marble floor tiles made it an unique visual.
Happy? I’d rather someone else bring it up and then I can reply “me too” :p
If they would have stated burn’s age now, it would have been something like: Mr Burns was 81… When he stopped counting…
And maybe give a clue that he gave up on following his age around the 20’s.
Also, how do you fit 81 candles on a cake? That’s a lot.

Good God no Jazz/beatnik event.
Lol, sorry to laugh at your plee, but there is a bit of an inevitability (whether next week or three years from now), I’m just pointing out possibilities (while personally wanting such an event to come and be done with so I can stop asking and hearing others ask for it). But it might just end up as a mini-event or packaged into something with a much larger theme like Nighttime/nightlife/clubs and a sun blocker..?
Sun Blocker would be great. Especially if it actually cast a shadow on Springfield. It would be a great aspirational prize.
Your right about inevitability of jazz especially if Bleeding Gums comes into the game.
This is one of my top ten favorite episodes. The scene when Homer wakes up and Dimoxinil has actually fulfilled its promise is so fun. Prancing through the town, running into the other Dimoxinil success story, rolling around with his family on the front lawn: the jubilation, the giddy glee, the unbridled satisfaction. Homer is happy. I love any Burns/Smithers-heavy episode as well, and this one does not disappoint on that front. Homer’s windfall comes at the expense of Burns’ ivory back scratcher. The exchange about tartar sauce is is wonderful. Timid, tentative Homer falling ass-backward (hair forward?) into success with a simple suggestion about the cafeteria’s deployment of tartar sauce. His dry fish stick of a life is suddenly palatable. The tartar sauce represents his newfound confidence, his new found moxy and flavor. And speaking of newfound confidence, the biggest gem of all about this episode is Karl, brilliantly voice acted by the uber talented Harvey Fierstein. By the way, is he ever not incredible? I’ll never forget his role in Mrs Doubtfire and the chemistry he had in his scenes with the late/great Robin Williams (Robin: “Can you make me a woman?” … Harvey: “Ohh honey, I’m so happy”). The scene where Karl gives Homer his umbrella and then walks home in the rain is always a slight tear jerker for me. In conclusion, (if you’re still reading 😉 this episode is classic early Simpsons. A well written, slowly unfolding plot that is not afraid of sentiment and dwelling in the mundane while vibrantly poking fun at ludicrous hierarchy of the working world. Thanks, Alissa, for picking this one out 🙂

These early simpsons episodes had a lot of heart. This episode is no exception. One of my all time favorites. The note Karl leaves for Homer gets me every time. And when they cut to him actually narrating it, it’s simpsons gold.
Homer: I’m just a big fool.
Karl: Oh no, you’re not.
Homer: How do you know?
Karl: Because my mother taught me never to kiss a fool!

Homer: Karl!
Karl: Now go get ’em, tiger!
