Hello time travelers, happy Halloween
*Flashlight under face* Boo!! Now that you are properly scared, prepare to be informed (which is kind of scarier). There are a few Landmarks in The Simpsons’ history and this is one of them, The very first THOH (which since “Treehouse” is a compound word it should be TOH but it doesn’t look right, so let’s stick with THOH).
1977, there was an iconic role, voiced by an even larger Force of a man, James Earl Jones. Yes THAT James Earl Jones and he graced The Simpsonsverse in three separate roles in this episode (not to mention voicing Maggie in a future THOH episode).
There was no THOH in season 1 but this doesn’t change the fact how important they are to the fabric of the series and our game. Enough of my excitement that I can’t put into words (and refused to leave in all caps) find a dark room or even a treehouse and enjoy this special installment:
“Treehouse Of Horror”

This Landmark episode was the 3rd episode of Season 2, the 16th episode in total and of course the first Treehouse Of Horror episode. October 25th 1990. (Less than a week away from Halloween, then)
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: Kang and Kodos, the bad dream house, The Raven (Bart bird NPC) and (since it’s in the game) the ancient Indian burial ground.
There are also characters and items that appeared for the first time that Could come into TSTO in the future maybe. OH THE POSSIBILITIES:
Some previously requested Characters: Serak the Preparer (I was tempted to toss him into the Don’t Mention It section, because I’m contented with Kang and Kodos as being the resident Aliens in the game), Serak was voiced by James Earl Jones, thus it isn’t likely this character (in the game) would be.
Possible Skins: Homer with Ghost sheet, Homer as Lenore’s widower from “The Raven”, Lisa and Maggie as angels (also from the telling of “The Raven”), Axe Crazed Homer (though Possible, I don’t want the other murder-in-their-eyes Simpson Family members)
Possible Decoration: Tree with hanging Bug Zapper and BBQ Grill directly under it.
Possible Events: There isn’t much I can think of that hasn’t been done in previous THOH Tapped Out events…. Murderous rampage event? (but that’s probably be better with The Grim Reaper Homer episode), yet I still want Axe-in-Back Willie skin from another THOH episode too that might fit well with a murderous rampage event..
Characters and Things I didn’t mention because I personally have no interest in them joining the game Don’t Mention It: The moving man (also voiced by J.E.J.)

To answer some of the questions: I played Pong on a machine that one of my mom’s friends owned, but she only had one controller and it had to be a clear night in order to play. My favorite Poe story this week is The Tell Tale Heart (it changes based on my mood). I believe a single crow is a bad omen, but two are good. And I was in seventh grade when this first aired, so I have fond memories of this one.
To answer all your questions: Vaguely. Can’t remember one off hand. I do like the raven, but we already have him. Yes. Yes. The Cask of Amontillado / Annabel Lee. No, not even in *haunted* houses. Yes but we’ll never see one. Definitely. No. Nooooooooooo!!!

Lol, it always amazes me what direction the conversation goes on here.
If I knew this event was coming maybe I would have chose the Bad Dream House’s vortex to another dimension Gif instead. but the Pong made me laugh harder, so went with that.
Also assuming Wookiee is busy with his radio gig, because Of the whole J.E.J., I’d think that would summon a comment from him.

We have Bright House with the on-demand FXX channel with every Simpsons episode, I think. Went to watch Who Shot Mr. Burns part 2, and the darn thing stops halfway through! Now we’ll NEVER know who shot him!!
…Except, you know, the fact that I’ve seen the episode 1000 times.

nothing like the first one…yup I remember it, I watched it when it was first televised and it never gets bored…I too want a Leonor widower skin and the raven needs to be in the game…

I know so many English teachers who use this version of The Raven to teach Poe at Halloween. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! And yes, I taped it on my VCR the first time.

I agree with tots. I watch all the THOH episodes several times a year. and pumpkin spice is in the air now. In fact I could have e.a. turn my town and its splash screen into a fall frenzy immediately and have it last till the end of November with no problem. I hate that the Halloween events start several days into October. Its by far my favorite time of year to play tapped out! Now I just started THIS episode off the archives of my d.v.r… God bless technology! 🙂
To show my age I will mention watching that when it first aired. I had taped it on my VCR, and kept pausing to catch the background stuff. One of the funniest things I had ever seen, and totally clinched the Simpsons as one of my all time favorite shows, even better than Alf. Remember Alf, he’s back, in Pog form.

I have one (along with a TON of tapes) in my basement. You never know when you might have to dust off those tapes…
We still have several tapes. We bought one of those VCR-DVD converters. Converted a lot of tapes over to DVDs, but still have several more tapes left, cause we don’t have time to convert them.
I’ve got the whole 2001 ,2002, 2003 & 2004 Tour de France on VHS…I was obsessed with cycling and Lance Armstrong when I was in High School (and college)…but now they’re all kind of worthless that the guy turned out to be a total cheater. But can’t bring myself to get rid of them…but at the same time I can’t bring myself to spend the time to convert them to DVD lol
Don’t feel too bad. Ben Johnson, Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds, Shawne Merriman, Alex Rodriguez, Marion Jones, Floyd Landis, and many others have been idolized by the masses.
I’m always in the mood for Halloween and THOH! I want to see a coven of witches event, or a Burns vampire event when you turn your neighbors into bats for blood vials. Mwah ha ha ha. Or Simpsons kids Peanuts parody.
THOH rules! Yes I do remember this episode. Somewhere in the basement I have VHS tapes (look it up kids)of the first 3-4 seasons of the Simpsons. I should dig them out if anything for the commercials.
Over the years they have been hit or miss for me. My favorite is still the one with the monkeys paw.

And “He’s got a board with a nail in it!”
I would love to have Moe chase Kang and Kodos with a board with a nail in it.
