Where Did THAT Come From – Soul Extraction Institute, RoboBurns, and Doggy Smithers

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

By Hawking’s chair and wowza! The 2016 TSTO SciFi Event has just begun and already there’s so much to wow a fuzzball. Stephen Hawking, black holes, multidimensional visitors, and lots of sciencey futuristic stuff to figure out where to put in our games. I’m loving this like a nerd in a space rock candy store but I know a lot of this new stuff might have you wondering just where the heck it all comes from. Well no fears inter-quantum dimensional guys and gals, that’s where this walking carpet earns his bread and butter (seriously, that’s all I’m paid in lol). For this dimension of origin stories, we’ll be looking at the Soul Extraction Institute, RoboBurns, and Doggy Smithers, a premium combo for 100 donuts.

The Soul Extraction Institute comes our way via “Holidays of Future Passed” (S23:E9). There’s lots of goodness that came from this episode and this is one of them. If you haven’t seen the episode, suffice to say Maggie is still voiceless but also pregnant in the episode.

It’s Christmas time in the future and Maggie is trying to get home for the holiday but life and the episode have other plans. While she’s in a taxi driven by Kearney, she goes into labor and has to be rushed to the hospital. Kearney takes Maggie to the Springfield Hospital which has a new wing. The Montgomery Burns Institute for Soul Extraction. Sounds like just the thing Burns would be up to in the future.

Here’s a day time shot too that makes me laugh to see with Burns holding hands with the Devil as he walks in to the building.

Of course, the robotic future versions of Burns and Smithers have nothing to do with this episode. Roboburns and Doggie Smithers come from the very end of “Rosebud” (S5:E4). Burns finds himself wondering what the future holds for his beloved teddy and we find ourselves fast forwarded to 1,000,000 A.D. where everything has ended up like my favorite Charlton Heston movie.

Burns has kept himself alive by encasing his head in a jar and robotic body and Smithers is his ever diligent robopuppy.

For more about Bobo… I actually wrote about that teddy bear all the way back in January 2015. If you have the Tropical Island from the 2014 Christmas Event, Bobo has been in your town for ages.

And that’s about it. I’m off to explore all the interdimensional goodness in my town and laugh at some more of the dialogue. If you’re wondering if you should buy this, it’s probably the best deal you’ll ever see in TSTO. Sound off with your thoughts and I hope you’re loving this event as much as me.

  1. I LOVE this event. I’m freemium, and have been for nearly 4 years now, but seriously considering using real money to buy donuts.
I bought robo burns and doggy Smithers, but I can’t find doggy Smithers anywhere. Is he like the other animals that just wander around? Or does he have quests too?

    • he has a task list (no questline). You should be able to find him via townhall…doggy smithers, not smithers.

      • Thanks! It was a false alarm. I found him when I set everyone free this morning. I guess he’s just small, and I scrolled through the townhall, but didn’t see him.
This update is so dope. Definitely considering buying the holo-pack of decorations.

  2. This is arguably the best donut rebate deal offered so far since you get TWO premium main(ish) characters in the Simpsons series PLUS a building that generates $$$. Robo Burns and Doggie Smithers is AND isn’t Mr.Burns and Smithers, depends how you see it. Personally I love this combo and hope that EA comes out with more deals like this so I can add more characters in my town.

  3. Rosebud is one of my (many) favorite episodes. It’s chock full of heady goodness!

  4. Your posts need the likes and comments they deserve 😉 lol (not about the stats though)
Seriously though, now that the time and effort gone into these is hugely appreciated and loved with us ALL!

  5. The only Bobo I have is the giant gold one at the top of my money pile.

  6. Rusty Shackleford

I have tasks that are stuck from the Olympics event. Many characters, like Homer, Lisa, Milhous, etc. still have an Olympic event highlighted in their task lists.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

  7. The part where I learned that Bo-Bo bear has always being in my town sort of creeps me out.

  8. i want to hide everything but the futuristic stuff…lol. XP

  9. I never cared much for “Rosebud.” I loved the opening, but that’s about it. I certainly didn’t like the ending, but I do like having these two characters!

  10. I think this is a really poor event. Tired format now and seems to revolve around cluttering up my Springfield with unnecessary garbage. I bought these expecting them to be skins rather than standalone characters which seems unnecessary, and I think it’s shocking that the set doesn’t produce more event currency. Wish I’d saved my donuts!

  11. Soul Extraction Institute, RoboBurns, and Doggy Smithers well worth the donuts never regretted this purchase.

  12. I don’t know if this is a good or bad sign for a Teddybear Bobo event. The voiced lines given in the game has Teddy-Bear-Smithers “hug me” quotes, and Burns has the Famous “Happy Birthday Mr.Smithers” quote.

Medbot would be a cool addition.

  13. Bought it right away and love them already. Robo-Burns even earned some event currency. Imho they should have made that permanent for the event, but that is the only improvement for this combo I can think of 🙂
