Sci-Fi Event 101: Act 2 Math

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Here we are in Act 2 and we’re all still wondering the same thing…how do I get more Chronons?  Will I earn everything in time?  Why the heck is this so difficult?!

So let’s all take a deep breath…and read as I breakdown the math and how to succeed in getting everything…. (Warning…there’s a LOT of words in this post…hope I don’t make your head hurt after reading it all…)

evilhomer_tap_image_16

So, I’m not going to lie to you guys.  This isn’t going to be easy (and by not easy I mean, time consuming..to an extent).  Most of you will go right down to the wire to earn all of the Act 2 prizes.  And it’s going to take regular consistent tapping to get there.  (and pretty much 5 times/day tapping)

Ironically (or as intended by EA), the Act 2 Currency is Chronons, as in Time.  And it’s going to take a lot of time to get everything!

ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg

To say I’m less than thrilled with this, is an understatement.  I love this event, quite honestly.  It’s fun and full of witty dialogue.  Not to mention the Future Episodes are always a favorite of mine to watch..so the idea of having a Future area in my Springfield is something I’m very excited about. But the amount of stress this is causing many of you is very upsetting to me.  This is a game, and games are supposed to be fun.  And it’s not fun when you feel stressed out about it.

I get that EA is trying to make things harder, or get us to spend donuts on things.  Especially with so many ways to earn free donuts in the game these days.  But the best thing about this game has always been that you can earn everything in it for free.  Just as long as you’re consistent with your tapping and you get into your game early and often.

And that is still true for this event.  You can achieve everything in the game without spending a single donut..and still getting 8hrs of sleep.  But it takes a LOT of tapping.  And it makes me nervous for the future of Events, and the ability to earn everything for free.

ico_acco_button_ea

So before I get into the Math I would just like to ask EA to please be careful. Don’t go the way of TinyCo on that “other game”.  This game has ALWAYS been superior because you don’t set unrealistic goals for players.  And many players have stopped playing that “other game” because of the unrealistic goals set.  So please keep TSTO a fun and enjoyable gaming experience.

Now that I’ve said my peace…on with the Math.

First, as with ALL events, you must log into your game consistently each day throughout the event in order to get everything.  If you only log in once or twice a day it’s going to be impossible to earn all of the prizes, without spending donuts (via the prize track).  This is true for ALL TSTO Events, not just this one.  It takes regular, consistent, diligent tapping to earn everything.

Second, because several of you were upset with my last math post (where I suggested to login 5 times a day), I’ve broken this one out into three groups.  Those that can log in 3 times/day, 4 times/day and 5 times/day.  And I will tell you the more you tap the easier it will be to get everything.  The less you tap the more you’re going to have to rely on luck of daily tasks and premium items.

maggieskyfingertappedout

Here are my recommended schedules for those 3:

3 Times/day– Tap when you wake up, when you get home from work (or school), before you go to bed.  (assuming you get home from work four hours before you go to bed)  This involves ZERO tapping at work.

4 Times/day- Tap when you wake up, at lunch, when you get home from work or school and before you go to bed.

5 Times/Day- Suggested tapping schedule: 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm.

All three of those methods take into account getting (at least) 8hrs of sleep a night.  There’s no need to lose sleep, unless you want to of course.

robot_fighter_attack_image_5

I also want to remind you…that you’ll only need to be in your game for less than 1 minute each time (with the exception of neighbor actions).  It takes less than 1 minute to clear your PolyVac, reassign the multiverse Homers, start the mini game (which when started automatically clear the Robots in your town, so you won’t need to go searching for those guys) and play the mini game.

And yes there are some of you who are going to tell me you have lives.  I do too.  So I get it.  I do.  Life is WAY more important than a game.  It really and truly is.  So if your life takes you away from the game so you can’t get in regularly, that’s ok.  But don’t complain that EA doesn’t take into account the fact that you have a life.  Their goal is to keep you in the game, tapping and playing.

Now that we’ve discussed the different tapping schedules, let’s breakdown all the ways to earn ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg during Act 2.

First up the Freemium ways….

-Robots in Springfield.  They max out at 80 Robots, and after 4hrs your town will be full of them.  So they’re 80 Robots/4hrs.  Each Robot earns 1 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg.  So that’s 80 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs from Robots.

robot_tap_3_image_19

-Multiverse Homers.  There are 5 Multiverse Homers, who each have a 4hr task at the PolyVac earning 33ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg each.  So that’s 165 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs from the Multiverse Homers.Homer Barbarian Commanding Troops

-The SciFighter Mini Game.  Tapping as many robots inside the game in 20 seconds will earn you even more Chronons.  The SciFighter payout for Act two is as follows: 50ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg just for playing, 3ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg for every second you last (so if you go all 20 seconds this number is 60), 1 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg for every Robot Tapped and 2 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg for every Jet cleared (2 taps).  This time it’s a little harder, so let’s assume you earn an average of 130 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs via the game. (worse case scenario)

scifighterdrone_lh_tap_image_5

So those are the 3 regular 4hr ways to earn Chronons.  So this will yield (at least) 375 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg

-Neighbor Actions.  Once a day you can collect chronons from clearing Robots in neighbor’s towns.  You get at least 84 actions per day, and each pays out 2 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg (unless you tap an anomaly, but because they’re hard to predict let’s assume just Robots).  So that’s 168 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day from Neighbor Actions

-Daily Tasks.  You will occasionally get a daily task  that will yield 1100 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg.  These again are hard to predict, so for the purposes of this let’s assume you only get two daily tasks for Act 2 that will yield 1100 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg.  So that comes to 2,200 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg for all of Act 2.  (yes, you can skip other tasks (multiple times) to try and get a task that pays out Chronons.  And yes you could easily get 3 or 4 challenges to earn Chronons.  But I’m assuming worst case scenarios here)

ico_mhud_dailytaskssystem

-Main questline.  Via the Smack to the Future (main) questline for Act 2 you can earn 863 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg if you don’t have Profressor Frink and 896 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg if you do have Professor Frink.  However, in a few places the tasks are for the Mulitverse Homer’s to perform tasks at the PolyVac.  Since they’re already factored in above we have to subtract them from here.  So let’s assume 467ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg without Frink and 500ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg with Frink from the main questline.

menu_scifi_scifighter

-Mooch Bart questline.  Once you unlock him (first prize on the prize track) his questline will earn you more Chronons.  So that’s an additional 363 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg from that questline.  (President Lisa will earn them too, but at that point (because it’s the last Act 2 prize) I recommend saving her questline for Act 3)

-Cryo Stasis Memorial  questline.  Once you unlock it (5th prize on the prize track) it’ll come with a short 3 part questline.  You’ll earn an additional 66 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg  if you don’t have Jasper and 99 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg if you do have Jasper.

Those are all the FREE (and pretty much guaranteed) ways to earn Chronons during Act 2.

Now let’s look at the premium additions:

-Grimes and/or Rocker Maggie at the PolyVac.  That’s an additional 66ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs each.  So if you have both that’s an additional 132ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs.

-Elysium Project.  If you purchase this you’ll earn an additional 100 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs.

menu_scifi_elysiumproject_notification

-Ladybot Questline.  If you purchase the Lady Bot you’ll earn additional ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg via her questline. Her questline will earn you an additional 396 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg AND once the questline is complete she’ll have a task at the PolyVac.  She’ll earn 66ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs.

And that’s it from the premium options.  I’m not going to include them in the numbers below, because they’ll vary for everyone.  But from the list above you can see how much better shape you’ll be in for the Chronons prize track with these items.

Oh and one more thing.  Many of you only unlocked Sgt. Skinner yesterday or the day before.  His questline will now pay out ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg.  So that’ll help you earn even more!

So now let’s put it all together.  Well the freemium stuff anyway.  We’ll start with the 5 time/day players and work our way down.

Again I’m assuming WORST Case Scenario and assuming no premiums (that includes Frink and Jasper)

First let’s establish you’ll need 29,100 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg to unlock President Lisa.  And via the Calendar we know you need 2,080ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day.

Now there are a few numbers that are overall ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg earnings, not something you can earn each day.  Those are:
-Main questline (Smack to the Future)- 467ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg
-Mooch Bart Questline- 363ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg
-Cryo Stasis Memorial  Questline- 66ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg
-And assuming (at least) 2 Daily Challenges for 1,100ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg each- 2,200ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg

So that’s a total of 3,096ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg.

So to make things a little easier…let’s deduct that number from the 29,100ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg to figure out the new /day amount you’ll need assuming those factors.

So that’s 26,004ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg left to earn (after the questlines and assuming 2 Daily Challenges).

Which means you’ll need to earn approx 2,000ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day via the Robots, PolyVac & Neighbor Actions.

And again remember… you’ll only need to be in your game for less than 1 minute each time (with the exception of neighbor actions).  It takes less than 1 minute to clear your PolyVac, reassign the multiverse Homers, start the mini game (which when started automatically clear the Robots in your town, so you won’t need to go searching for those guys) and play the mini game.

Logging in Every 4hrs 5 Times a Day

Neighbors- 168ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Multiverse Homer Tasks- 165ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs x 5= 825ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Robots- 80ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs x 5= 400ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Mini Game- Assuming (at least) 130 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs x 5= 650

This gives you a total of 2,043ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day.

If you log in 5 times a day you’ll easily unlock all of the prizes.  (and you won’t need any premium items to do it).

Logging in Every 4hrs 4 Times a Day

Neighbors- 168ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Multiverse Homer Tasks- 165ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs x 4= 660ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Robots- 80ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs x 4= 320ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Mini Game- Assuming (at least) 130ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs x 4= 520

This gives you a total of 1,668 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day.  If you only log in 4 times/day you’ll need higher Mini Game totals or more 1,100 ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg Daily Challenge Payouts or you’ll need to purchase some premium items/characters.

Logging in Every 4hrs 3 Times a Day

Neighbors- 168ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Multiverse Homer Tasks- 165ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs x 3= 495ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Robots- 80/4hrs x 3= 240ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day
Mini Game- Assuming (at least) 130ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/4hrs x 3= 390ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day

This gives you a total of 1,293ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg/day.  If you only log in 3 times /day you’ll really need to rely on some premium characters.  (and a lot of luck with Daily challenges) Because just regular tapping, without premiums you won’t even make it to the 5th prize..let alone President Lisa.

Of course this isn’t meant to discourage ANYONE who logs in less than 5 times a day.  This is merely telling you what you may need to do if you want to get it all. You may need to skip a few daily challenges in a row (hit the x, remember you can only x 1 out every 24hrs) until you get one to pay out ico_cur_scifi2016_time_lg, you may have to think about investing in a premium character for this event (if you don’t already have one) and you may have to adjust your tapping schedule if you truly want it all.

Do I like that you have to grind it out and stress about getting into your game 5 times a day to get everything easily? No.  But is it completely obtainable? Yes. Do you have to lose sleep to achieve it all?  Absolutely not.

The best advice I can give you is to figure out what works best for you and make adjustments along the way.

And that’s it on the math post my friends!

What are your thoughts on the math?  Have any positive tips for other players?  How are you doing so far?  On target?  Behind?  Ahead?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I’d also recommend spending a couple minutes a day tapping ads on TSTOaddicts.com to support this the folks who bring us this helpful info and keep it coming. 😉 Thank you!!!

  2. Good post but it’s missing the calander Patrick posts with his math updates.

    • Calendar posts and math posts are almost always two separate posts on this site. There is a calendar post for Act 2, too.

  3. Act 2 part 10 hold off on finishing all the tasks and you can keep sending homer on the 2 hour task for chronons 33 per 2 hour task. Not sure if it will let me replete Hawkings part also yet but I do not see why not. Hope this helps!!

  4. Looks like there is another hack right at the end of “Smack to the Future Pt. 10” to get a few more chronos until they fix it. Don’t send Hawking on his 8hrs job and that will leave Homer stuck on his 33 chronos/2hrs job.

  5. Looks like there is another hack to get a few more chronos right at the end of “Smack to the Future Pt. 10”. Don’t send Hawking on his 8hrs job, which will leave Homer stuck to do his 33 chronos/2hrs job. Homer’s job doesn’t get highlighted, so you’ll need to scroll to find it.

  6. 1st – thank you for taking the time to write this article, Alissa …. I feel the math is going to differ for each individual Tapper (I’m about 85%-90% within your estimates) and it’s “meh” playing catch up having to use your Bonuts (guess I won’t be getting any Premiums for this Event!) …..

2nd – the thrill of earning all of the Freemiums seems to be disappearing, so in order to keep this game app fun? I no longer concern myself with obtaining every single Prize in an Event (I’ve Crafted many Buildings / Decor for free!!) …

3rd – I get it ! EA wants you to spend $ on Donuts (yeah they give you opportunities to earn Bonuts, but it’s not easy to accomplish this)! How do I know when EA has sucked the fun out of things? I used to have over 100 Neighboreenos back in 2014 …. in 2016 I’m down to 30 (at 70% of my Neighboreenos have left the game app within 2 years!!)

4th – TSTO is still a fun game app (for me), but it’s TSTO Addicts which has made things fun (EA is starting to suck the fun out of it!) I have to accept the fact that EA could pull the plug on this game at any time they want …

  7. They definitely raised the rewards for sci fighter. Makes it much better so you don’t have to do so many logins each day.

    • EA always changes the amount of event currency during the event. If people squeek loud and plenty enough, EA will turn the knobs to increase the amount until the people are satisfied.

  8. Fun while it lasted…looks like they just fixed the digi-Big Ben glitch with the latest update.

  9. Why didn’t my comment get posted? I did mention this so-called glitch/easter egg, but never said specifically what it was. Plus it had some advice that some people might find useful now that they seem to have patched the glitch (have they? It’s no longer working for me, at least)

  10. Thanks Alyssa, as a 4 a day tapper, looking at the math and your recommendations and got the Elysium project with my donuts. Wasn’t going to get it, but I’m glad I did now as it really takes the pressure off (and helping the event be FUN). Plus the lights on it when the revered is in it are so pretty! Thanks so much for this post, this act is very tough, but if you know it’s going to be tight there is time now to adjust, or make those premium purchases which will help!

  11. SciFight drop increased, just got 252 for my 31 robots cleared. You blog, they listen.

  12. Just a short message to let you know that I think that EA has read this post, because I noticed that all of a sudden the mini-game now rewards around 250 Chronons for around 30 robots tapped. (Previously 150 for me)

  13. I’m on, so far, about 8300, and I had 3 rounds of bonus last act. I do have Grimes, but the Sgt Skinner questline I finished last time. I’ll likely buy Lady Bot, and I did buy Robo Burns and Doggy Smithers.. I just can’t tell why I’m finding this so much easier than other people.

  14. Raising the difficulty turns the game from funny and rewarding to stressing and disappointing. I tap 4 times a day and I got St Skinner because I was lucky to get 2 1100 daily tasks the last 2 days.
Visiting neighbours is boring and time consuming (70% loading time).
I don’t think you can get 8 hours sleep if tapping 5 times a day, as you have to consider 1 minute loading time plus 1 minute to tap plus synchronisation to the second to log in on time (always coverage and available to tap) it will be like 6 AM, 10:02 AM, 2:04 PM 6: 06 PM 10:08 PM.
Anyway, this high requirements are turning tsto from a game to an obligation.

    • Ok so 7hrs and 52 minutes.

I mean come on. You’re giving me grief over 8 minutes? Seriously? Do you fall asleep the instant you head hits the pillow? Because I know I don’t. I can go to bed at 10 and not fall asleep until 11. WITHOUT tapping. So come on don’t be ridiculous over 8 minutes

    • JAN- R U 4 REAL??? – PEDANTIC. If you don’t understand what that means, please look it up. I’m not sure how long it will take you to do so and I am loathe to hazard a guess, lest you chastise me for being out by 2 or 3 minutes…..Happy tapping….or not💜X

  15. Tap a tap a tapa
Maybe just because I’m premium but this event is so easy, I keep forgetting to log in and almost have the second prize. I guess EA rewards commerce, how uncorporate of them. Although doughnuts are so plentiful now I haven’t spent a dime.

    • The last thing people want to hear is how easy you find this event.
Good luck to you mate but keep it to yourself.

  16. I have been smashing this quest and still didn’t get to Sgt.Skinner and doing the maths I wont get anywhere near Pres Lisa. I don’t have heaps of friends towns to go to ( not many of mine play this and no one accepts random requests as Ive found out ) so the maths don’t work out. Im barely lucky to get 1000 a day let alone 2000 !! aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh

  17. I usually don’t pay a lot of attention to the calendar timeline posts and whatnot just because I usually get the last prize a good 2 or 3 days in advance just playing my normal style. 2 days before the act was going to end it didn’t look like I would get Sergeant Skinner. But got lucky on the last day with a daily prize for 1100 Dark Matter. Got him around 12:00 on the last day. Had I missed Sergeant Skinner it would have been kind of whatever to me. Sure I glad I did get him, better to have him then to not but I really want President Lisa. I guess I will have to step up my game. One good think about getting him so late is that I am doing his quest line now and gets sweet sweet Chronons in this act for it.

I wander if they are trying to make event characters more worth wild. In previous events if a character earned event currency it didn’t really go into my buying decision. It didn’t really seem like the event currency that they would make would add up to matter. Now the LadyBot that honestly isn’t really doing a lot for me as a character but she isn’t a bad donut deal and earns event currency. Maybe I want to give her a second look.

  18. Ahhh. Nevermind . Sorry. Ladybot questline cond once I freed up millhouse …. thanks .

  19. Hi. anyone else have ladybird not showing task at polyvat? I am missing finishing her questline? Thanks for any help 🙂

  20. I’d just like to say a BIG thanks for the effort that’s gone into the Math posts. I was a little slack in Act 1 and missed out on Sgt Skinner via freemium play because I wasn’t paying attention (still forked out some donuts for him though, cos I didn’t want to pass him up). So knowing exactly what the play is for Act 2 (and will be in Act 3) is REALLY APPRECIATED!! 😀

  21. Explains why I’m two prizes short on act one. Hrmf.

    Expatrie-

  22. Is Gill’s deal over or just missing from my game? I was going to buy the future stadium tonight but can’t find it now. It’s probably over. Sigh. I really wish the game would warn us when these things are about leave the game.

  23. Does anyone know if the newfangled kwiki mart will have scratch-R tickets? I was thinking it would be really awesome if it sold premium tickets. But I’m probably just getting my hopes up.

  24. I am now convinced that this is an easter egg rather than a glitch. Think about it. We are collecting a currency called Chronons, and they are found in abundance where a premium time apparatus is located among a neighbour’s town. EA wants to help us reach the seemingly tougher-to-get prizes. No need to talk about this as cheating.

    • I can’t even play now What’s up w EA

    • Except it doesn’t work for everyone so…

    • LOTUS10- Think it’s a glitch. I found a neighbour who enabled it to work and I took advantage (but did not abuse it), really just to see if it was true. However, when I tried it on another neighbour’s game with the item it didn’t work. I went back to the one that worked for me yesterday and it’s not working now. I think it has been patched now. As I neighbour visit today I’ll try it if I see the item, but I think EA would rather we purchased premium items to achieve the end goal rather than farm the currency as some players have done…I’m glad I got to try it as I never ever get the good glitches….💜X

      • No, it hadn’t been patched. Your neighbor probably just tapped his/her town’s you-know-what. Try a different neighbor that has one.

    • If that is the case then EA won’t mind if you tell us all what it is then then will they ?

      • No – that didn’t follow, logically. The whole point of an Easter egg (from the developer’s point of view) is that it’s something that only some people find…if they wanted everyone to find it (and had based their metrics in that), then they’d mention it themselves. Think of it as more of a reward for especially engaged players. (Now, I’m not saying that people shouldn’t share the info among themselves; I’m just saying that, if it becomes too widespread, then it won’t be in EA’s best interest to let it continue.

Besides, even though I think I was the first one here to posit the theory that it might be an Easter egg, and not a glitch, that doesn’t mean that that’s definitely the case. And if it is a glitch, then it’s not in our best interest to alert EA to it.

        • Considering how many glitches have centered around interacting with a neighbor’s items in some way (stackables and big box in particular spring to mind) I doubt easter egg. Sometimes an item just behaves unexpectedly.

          • I forgot what the Big Box glitch was, but, with the stackable, it’s easy to see how that could be a coding error… they just forgot trio as a condition to test for whether it had already been tapped. That’s quite different from what we’re seeing with this current thing.

      • My previous comment was not sufficiently clear! I want to help, but I don’t want to displease anyone here. So let’s put it this way: when you visit your friends and you see a flash at the moment when a town appears, just leave that town and come back, and repeat as long as the flash continues.

    • What glitch / cheating are you taking about? I didn’t notice it mentioned elsewhere

  25. The Cronon cap is way too high,
    They need to cut it!!!

  26. Wondering if Act 3 is gonna be a rougher go than Act 2. Worth saving both Mooch Bart and Pres. Lisa quest lines for Act 3 currency? FWIW, I think the +1100 Chronons daily task will pop up enough to give everyone some wriggle room. I had that daily task today and am currently +1500 on the calendar. By the way, thanks so much for the work you do here. Read the posts often, though this my first response.

  27. Typo/calculation error, ” Main questline (Smack to the Future)- 467″, 467 should be 863. Then the calculations after that are off by that amount.

  28. Kill me now.
