Where Did THAT Come From – Holo-Theater, Skyberdine Systems & Johnson’s Teleporters Sign

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

By Hawking’s chair and wowza! The 2016 TSTO SciFi Event has just begun and already there’s so much to wow a fuzzball. Stephen Hawking, black holes, multidimensional visitors, and lots of sciencey futuristic stuff to figure out where to put in our games. I’m loving this like a nerd in a space rock candy store but I know a lot of this new stuff might have you wondering just where the heck it all comes from. Well no fears inter-quantum dimensional guys and gals, that’s where this walking carpet earns his bread and butter (seriously, that’s all I’m paid in lol). For this dimension of origin stories, we’ll be looking at:

Skyberdine Systems – 1st Act One Prize for 1600 dark matter
Holo-Theater – 4th Act One Prize for 18,000 dark matter
Johnson’s Teleporters Sign – Level 15 Craftable

So in an event about science, different existential Springfields, robots, and Interdimensional Travellers, it should come as no surprise that Simpsons episodes about the future were used as source material. They exist in the world of The Simpsons but are by no means canon. I guess TSTO now explains that these are realities, just not necessarily the realities of the canon episodes. Before I get rambling about all the thoughts this brings to my noggin, I’ll just say for this dimension of origin stories, we’ll be looking at “Holidays of Future Passed” (S23:E9). No, not the Moody Blues song, what dimension are you from?

So…basically this episode finds our favorite family 30 years from the spacetime we’re used to seeing them. It’s a heartwarming Christmas episode that I enjoy a ton. Right at the beginning, we find Bart as a layabout, living in The Lofts at Springfield Elementary. In his apartment, is the holo-table/theater which surprise surprise is cued up to a holographic version of Itchy & Scratchy.

Lots of future buildings seen amongst the reality that a lot of Springfield is quite run-down. In one of the scenes showing futuristic buildings, Skyberdine Systems is clearly visible in the background. It’s not named but I’m guessing the crEAtors wanted to give a shout out to The Terminator. Makes sense to me since killer robots are running amok in our games.

Benny Hilton Skyberdine Systems Dalek Simpsons

I can understand if you missed the building while giggling at the Dalek chasing a lady to the classic Benny Hill music. The last item I wanted to share from the episode (Note: there may be more in it but, as their not out yet, I’ll cover them later) is the Johnson’s Teleporters billboard. Basically, a pregnant Maggie goes into labor while in a hover-cab driven by none other than Kearney. Kearney tells his car to go to a hospital but the cab’s auto drive takes them to a Computer Hospital first. Such a silly gag but I laugh every time. Not a loss though since we get to see the billboard as they head off to the real hospital.

So there you go friends of the future. Three of our new items origins in a Simpsons episode about the future. What do you think of them? Did you earn the prizes yet? Did you realize Skyberdine was from an episode? Did you craft the sign? Sound off in the comments and good luck sorting out your space-time with all the goodness involved with this event.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

Aww. Now I want a Benny Hilton. I miss Benny Hill…

  2. Just to let you know that in the picture with the Benny Hilton and Skyberdine Systems you can also see the future street lamp below Skyberdine Systems. 🙂 🚦
Ps sorry if I double posted by mistake.

  4. Guessing Skyberdine Systems is a parody of Cyberdyne Systems from Transformers 2?

  5. So it’s “Johnson’s Teleporters” but aren’t the working teleporters in the game not those, but Frink’s? Are Frink’s canonical?

  6. Kinda wished we got The Benny Hilton, or those flower walking creatures in the same picture (reminds me of another EA game). 🌷vs💀
