Should I Spend Donuts On the Future Monument?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The nerds have invaded Springfield!  Ok just one nerd, and he’s not all that bad.  And only in Springfield can Professor Frink, with the help of Homer, open up a black hole that transports doppelgangers, robots and Stephen Hawking (!) to our pocket sized Springfields!  So time to crack open those hologram wallets, because there’s a store full of multiverse theme premium items to spend our donuts on!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Future Monument to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this towering monument to your Springfield…

future_monument

Building/Decoration: Future Monument
Donut Price: 35 Donuts
Bonus%: Earns 0.75% bonus on all cash and XP
Size: 4×7
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100

Leaves stores September 13th

Pros:
-Always animated, the rings around it bounce up and down (slightly)

Cons:
-Terrible bonus % for donuts spent
-No real unique design to it.  I wouldn’t even say it looks cool
-No real animation to it, besides the minor movement of the rings
-No dialogue when placed
-Fairly large footprint for a long skinny monument

Final Thought:
Premium/Freemium:
Don’t buy this.  It’s hard to remember something that I remember being this underwhelming.  Don’t buy it.  Bonus % is terrible, it literally does nothing for Springfield and you have loads of other decorations you can get for your future areas for free.  Complete and total pass.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you I’ll be passing on this one, and you really should too.  Of course whatever you decide just remember this is limited time and will be leaving our games very soon.  So if you’re thinking about grabbing it, do it very soon before it’s gone for good!

What are your thoughts on the Future Monument?  Have you purchased it?  Where have you placed it in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Purchased it and regret it, that fence ruins it.

  2. Josephine Kick@$$

I had to… it reminded me too much of what a futuristic Washington Monument would look like 😊

  3. Oh Marge, grow up!

  4. I’m in full agreement. If it didn’t have the fencing around the bottom that A) doesn’t match it and B) increases the footprint to a ridiculous extent, then I would maybe consider it. Maybe. But I think it looks silly as-is and even if it had a high multiplier I wouldn’t want it.

    • Yeah I have to agree about the fencing, that sort of thing drives me bonkers in this game. Like how you can’t put anything right up against the base of the Cristo Springfield because his ARMS are part of the footprint. Why such big footprints for things?

I might have bought it if the fence wasn’t there.

  5. Have they offered rocker Maggie during this event? Hoping I’ve not missed her.

  6. I’m still deliberating on this, but I’m thinking the Future Monument would look REALLY good in front of the fully-upgraded IRS building. Anyone else think so? I’m still not sure if I want to spend 35 donuts on it tho…

    • It’s too big and the footprint is too big for it to look right with the IRS building, IMHO. It has a little pyramid already, it doesn’t need the monument.

  7. If I got it I’d probably put it next to the Steel Mill. I think I’d pass (so hard not making any other jokes.. So very hard) :p

    • I thought of putting it between my Xmas glass globe and the Epcot centre.

      • Those $70 shrubs might also look good with that arrangement (with a concentration of them just above the monument).

        • Wow, that is a nice suggestion. I have placed the monument between the two globes. It looks kinda bare without the scrubs at the moment. The globes also seems to be exceptionally big.

        • I have placed some luminescent flowers at the base of the monument as per your suggestion..

          • I would have thought that the shrubs would work better, but I’ll trust your judgement. (If you want me to see for myself, send me an invite and I’ll accept it..I think I have an available slot right now, or can make one…)

            • Josephine Kick@$$

I tried it if you’d like to take a trip to my SF Sandra. I’m not sure if that was what was being suggested, but it does look better than the fence 😊

            • Hi Sandra what is your ID? I can’t find an ID that spelt like your ID here.

              • That’s odd…it’s exactly the same as here! (The only thing I can’t remember its whether there’s a space between the names or not.) Try again, okay?

              • My ID is 168seanang168. I tried finding your ID but somehow still could not locate it.

              • Unfortunately, I can’t send invites, since I have 72 pending ones at the moment.

I don’t know why you’re having tribute finding it… Can one of my existing neighbors help Sean out? How did you find me? I thought it would be as simple as trying the name with and without the space…

              • Hi Sandra, I like your town. It has a few pleasant touches like the performance stage area and also the cow horse in the cane field that made me giggle!

              • Thank you! I had won some cane via the cauldron and knew I had some more in inventory, and had a sudden inspiration of what to do with them.

I’m glad you liked a couple of my “touches”…I don’t do the fancy 3D stuff or complex designs, and I like to be a little frugal with my space, but I do aim for a reasonably realistic town with funny or charming or clever or attractive little touches here and there. I’m definitely going to win any design contests, but, I think (hope) new(error) neighbours will discover more “touches” each time they visit, for a while. 🙂

              • I found your name! Both capital S. I will send you a request once the request friend error is reset from my game.

        • If you have anymore space add me too 🙂

I have a couple of spare slots.

    • I don’t get it lol

    • Just got it 😂

  8. alissa was reading about the new iphone 7 when she wrote up this SIB…. 😉

while it’s true i bought it because donuts aren’t an issue right now, i don’t think 35 is too much for a decoration like this. and i dunno if it’s because of the rings bobbing up and down or what, but i actually like this in my town more than i thought i would. still deciding on where to place it permanently, but for now i have it next to one of the retro style townhouses… the spiked railing on the top kinda goes with the spiked fencing around the monument.

  9. Bought the future monument as ill be adding it to my Sci – fi / western area once i pull the finger out and get my town up and running!

  10. it’s nice! it looks good with the whole futuristic scene. I don’t worry much about the % towards buildings and character earnings because EA removes them whenever they feel like it anyways. Sad. You can have it one day and gone by the next. True story.

    • I’ve seen EA *add* a bonus multiplier after the fact, but I don’t ever remember them taking one away…could they even do that to a premium item? Seems hard to believe, but maybe I’m just forgetting something…

  11. Forgot to say the other reason I wanted this is we have something almost identical in the town where I live so had to be done.

  12. 35 donuts doesn’t seem that bad (now it doesn’t?). I don’t worry about percentages very much. That goes with me not collecting rent from every building in town. More matters about aesthetic, as people say, and other arbitrary reasons. 🙂

  13. I’m a completist what can I say AND ITS GOT MOVING RINGS!!!!!! 😜😜😜

  14. Wonderful complement for Hank’s Volcano Lair, though!

Add four purple Zenith city buildings to the backdrop, sprinkle some of Akira’s free bonsais in between and you got yourself a pretty little thing right there.

  15. I like it for its aesthetic value

  16. I bought this right away. I am a mostly freemium player. I am planning on setting up my own dc-esque area once the presidents come back next year. I wish they would have given us a reflection pool though. I plan to use river to make one for the time being

  17. Still considering it… given how much more freely donuts are given out in the game now (vs. 2+ years ago) I feel accumulate enough free donuts to feel 35 is fine to spend (vs. the early days where you could die waiting to amass 50 free donuts… 😉
So, more plentiful bonuts coupled with living a few miles from the actual Washington Monument here in DC, seems to have me more interested in adding this to my town… (I’ve got the seated Lincoln statue, and created a quasi-Lincoln Memorial setup in my town, so this would add a bit more “DC-ness” to the place perhaps…

    • Yeah the donuts are much better, I’m really enjoying actually getting things I would never consider. Makes sense to get it for your DC area even more fun that you get to recreate your town. Living in Charlotte, NC it’s pretty generic. To re create it I would just need a bunch of banks and churches and 3 skyscrapers. Lol
