Where Did THAT Come From – Future Duff Sign, Mooch Bart, Future Simpson’s House, President Lisa, and the Future Monument

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where did THAT Come From?

By Hawking’s chair and wowza! The 2016 TSTO SciFi Event is in full swing. Stephen Hawking, black holes, multidimensional visitors, and lots of sciencey futuristic stuff to figure out where to put in our games. I’m loving this like a nerd in a space rock candy store but I know a lot of this new stuff might have you wondering just where the heck it all comes from. Well no fears inter-quantum dimensional guys and gals, that’s where this walking carpet gets to reminisce about his favorite cartoon for all of you. For this dimension of origin stories, we’ll be looking at:

Future Duff Sign – 2nd Act One Prize for 6,500 dark matter
Mooch Bart – 1st Act Two Prize for 4,600 chronons
Future Simpson’s House – 2nd Act Two Prize for 9,200 chronons
Future Monument – Act Two premium offering for 35 donuts
President Lisa –6th Act Two Prize for 29,100 chronons

Act Two of the 2016 TSTO SciFi Event dropped on all of us and it came with more prizes to be earned. Most of the items were brought to us from a single episode about the future aptly titled “Bart to the Future” (S11:E17). Apparently this episode was just a glimpse into an alternate reality involving President Lisa and Secretary of Keeping It Real aka Mooch Bart. For anyone unacquainted with this episode, basically the Simpson family finds out that larvae lake is not a good place to go camping as the insects are firmly in charge and decide to go to a Native American casino (you can read about its backstory in a great post by Bunny) instead. While there, Bart can’t get on the gambling floor since he’s a minor and smuggles himself into the casino in Gabbo’s storage case. I’m still giggling thinking of Bart tossing Gabbo to the dumpster. Also wondering what evil power it is that animates Gabbo sometimes but not others? TSTO says he’s an angel but I don’t buy it.

Anyhoo… we find ourselves viewing Bart’s future courtesy of vision quests with the Chief at Caesar’s Pow Wow Casino. “Unless you change your deceitful ways, I foresee a life of bitterness and failure for you Bart Simpson.”

Thirty years in the future, Bart is a 40-year-old loser who lives with Ralph Wiggum. Duff beer has become future Duff and is lit up like our new billboard.

Wow, Bart’s hand in an episode is now a billboard in the game and check out Mooch Bart! A guy who has potentially modeled his life after one too many Jimmy Buffet songs. You know it’s a strange future when Ralph seems pretty together and is the responsible one paying the rent.

Bart goes home to try and borrow money from his folks. The house doesn’t look terribly futuristic but at least there’s the wooden add-on from “Lisa’s Wedding” still. “Oh what a bleak horrible future we live in.”

Bart is sick of hearing how much better Lisa is doing than him. While Bart is a lazy layabout… Lisa is POTUS. I hope you know that acronym but if you don’t, it’s the leader of America. Homer and Marge don’t give Bart the loan to get his stuff out of hock. Bart really shouldn’t have dropped out of the DeVry Institute. Bart goes next door to get money from Blind Flanders instead. His house looks much nicer and apparently Bart is able to get money often with his mooching sack for not outing Rod and Todd.

With money to get his axe out of hock, Bart performs a gig with his band at Nelson’s Crab Shack and plays a song which really is just awful parody of Mr. Buffet. Bart claims he’s uncool for not letting people cover his songs. No surprise the bar patrons, basically the gang we usually see at Moe’s, don’t like Bart’s music and start tossing bottles at the stage. Thankfully Nelson has a shield installed. Sad for Bart and Ralph though that they get evicted from their beachhouse. Ralph leaves the band and what is a mooch to do?

Go live with his successful sister of course in her 17 room home with free long distance, laundry service and free food kitchens. Why wouldn’t the President’s no good brother be welcome at the White House? It’s right next to the Drive-Thru liquor store and Hustler Superstore. I’m sure President Lisa will be thrilled. Not like she’s busy concentrating on reading, writing, and refilling the ocean (the three Rs) or rescuing the United States from the budget crunch after-effects of a trumped up presidency. Bart us just there to help her “keep it real.”

And apparently Marge and Homer moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue also. Ralph too after Bart flew him in with the Presidential helo.

Lisa is busy trying to cut things from the budget and striving to desegregate death sports like rollerball while Bart is busy watching Bewitched and playing Frisbee on the presidential lawn. Said frisbee incident offers us a great image of the future monument, basically just the huge phallic symbol obelisk, errr, Washington Monument with a more futuristic look.

Fiscal solvency with temporary rebate adjustments, Homer searching for Lincoln’s gold, Milhouse on the White House staff… there’s a lot of hilarity in this episode but I don’t want to ruin it all. It’s definitely worth a watch. What do you think of the items? Do you enjoy this episode also? Would you buy Bart’s tape? Sound off in the comments and happy future tapping.

  1. I watched this one the other night just because of these items. I think the last time I saw it was the original airing. Lots of good moments.
I liked Bart questioning why there was a side story about Homer searching for Lincoln’s gold if the vision was supposed to be Bart’s future.

  2. My favorite part of this episode is right as The Vision Quest is about to start
Chief: If you want to see your future, throw a treasured personal item in the fire!
    Bart: Okay :tosses firecracker:
    Chief: Not a firecracker!
Bart: Hey, I bought it from a guy on your reservation!
    Chief: That’s crazy talk!
    Bart: No, it’s true.
Chief: No, I know, that’s my brother, Crazy Talk. We’re all a little worried about him.

It’s a pretty classic episode, although personally I prefer episodes when Bart has a more optimistic future

  3. DOES Lisa become President? Does it fit the timeline? Or is it just motivation?

  4. “TApe-O, I said Taaaappe-O” (with that last image, it needed to be said). Still a bit of possibilities from that episode for sure.

The future monument.. Wasn’t there a joke somewhere regarding the Washington Monument and then next to it is the (bigger) Clinton Monument (or was that a different episode, or an entirely different show?)?

  5. “Legalize it.”
    – Mooch Bart

  6. Ok. I want Ralph and Bart’s beach house rental and Nelson’s Crab Shack.

P.S. I still want Catfish Lake and General Sherman!
