Sci-Fi Prize Guide: Act 3, Prize 3 Mecha Hawk

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The nerds have invaded Springfield!  Ok just one nerd, and he’s not all that bad.  And only in Springfield can Professor Frink, with the help of Homer, open up a black hole that transports doppelgangers, robots and Stephen Hawking (!) to our pocket sized Springfields! This multiverse event hit our devices and it’s full of alternate universe inspired decorations, buildings & characters!

This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the Third Act you’re tasked with collecting Anti Matter (ico_cur_scifi2016_matter_lg) to unlock each prize!

The third, and final, Act 3 Prize awarded at 8,250 ico_cur_scifi2016_matter_lg is the Mecha Hawk, because it’s only fitting that we’d get the enemy we’ve been fighting the last month plus as our final prize

2016-09-13-10-11-10

So let’s take a closer look at this final prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…

Once you’ve collected 8,250 ico_cur_scifi2016_matter_lg you’ll automatically be awarded the Mecha Hawk and you’ll see this message popup:

2016-09-13-10-11-17

You will NOT have an option to store him.  He’ll automatically be awarded to you and be placed in Springfield.

Mecha Hawk is a Non-Playable Character, so he will be roaming around Springfield.  And he is part of the Interdimensional Travellers character collction..

2016-09-13-10-11-22

Again, Mecha Hawk is just an NPC.  So there’s no questline associated with him.  Just unlock and he’s arrived in Springfield.  There is a little bit of dialogue that pops up when you unlock him:

Homer: Ahhhh
Hawking: Relax.  It’s just a miniature souvenir.
Homer: An 8-foot-tall miniature souvenir!  And it’s on my foot!

When tapped he does have some animation, the rockets on him go off.  But ultimately that’s it for this NPC.

Noticing a bunch of you are commenting that you’ve won him but you can’t find him.  That’s likely because he’s roaming around your town somewhere….so just give a search for him and see if you can see him 🙂

And that’s it my friends!  The details behind this final Sci-Fi Event prize….

Oh and for those asking…unlocking Evil Homer requires you to finish the Act 3 questline.

What’s Next?

ico_wildwest_3donut_md BONUTS!- For every 3,000ico_cur_scifi2016_matter_lg you earn, after unlocking Mecha Hawk you’ll have a chance to earn 1, 2 or 3 Bonus Donuts!

2016-08-16 20.33.07

So keep earning that anti matter, even after you’re done with the prizes to earn as many bonuts as you can!

What do you think of Mecha Hawk? Have you unlocked him yet? Ready for the event to be over?  What do you think we’ll see next?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I am having the same issue as Jubiedog, I’ve won the polyvac about 8 times since getting the final “Use the Polyvac to fend off Mecha Hawk” but it will not move the story along. It still shows 0/1. I’ve had this issue for about 5 days now, even before the event ended. I am wondering if I’m doing something wrong? I thought maybe I wasn’t allowed to use a flash, but that didn’t do anything. I’ve won the mini game 8 times since getting that task, but I cannot get the story to progress the last little bit to the ending. *le sigh*

  2. I didn’t like this event all together. I’m not that much into future-simpsons. It looks odd in my Springfield. But so do a lot of other stuff. And the events seem all the same. (3acts, tap things running around, craft)
I upgraded crafting, so I only got what I wanted. Glad my storage isn’t cluttered that much. That worked out for me.
I didn’t loose a single fight. Even Mega Hawk was easy. Hardly used flashes.
It’s too bad the last act was so poor, with weird prizes and NPC’s
I’m glad it’s coming to an end.

  3. I have been playing this part of the event for almost three days and have yet to win with Mecha Hawk. I’ve won, but I guess without him. Do you think that if I do in the next six hours the show will go on?

    • You mean you’ve unlocked him and haven’t won a game since? Or you haven’t unlocked him…i’m a little confused as to what you’re asking..

      • I’ve unlocked him, have lost almost all of my games for some reason although I Have won a few, but apparently not “with him” doing the winning. I’m still on the left side icon telling me to win with him and no going forward with any other dialogue/tasks.
I’d love Homer, but as a NPC it’s not that important, more of a challenge really.
I tried again this morning and lost. I still have a four hour window to try again. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

  4. I will say that the prizes of this act are utter crap, one of them has a task and the other 2 are pointless decorations.

  5. I liked the crafting for this event tbh. I was able to craft lots of buildings that paid out as well as 5-10 of everything else in case it has a bonus in the future. Act 3 was kinda of a dud tho especially with all 3 prize being what they are.

  6. Only just realised that NPC stood for Non-Playable Character 😛

  7. What do you think the possibility of a SH addition? Seem it mentioned a few times and it would be good as a chilled out little addition before Halloween.

I think we will either get a Season 28 promo, mini-event or a SH addition. We could get a promo and SH addition but I doubt a mini-event because it would be too rushed!

    • I think it’s more likely that, at this time, we’ll see an episode tie-in (as I’ve been saying for a few weeks now). If there’s no season 28 premiere episode tie-in that will be the first time in the history of the game we didn’t have one. So i think it VERY LIKELY…as in over 99%…that we’ll see one this week. (possibly tomorrow, probably Wednesday or Thursday). The following week (week of the 27th) will either be met with a Gil Deal…discount items etc, or nothing. There’s not enough time to squeeze a mini event in prior to the start of October. Unless they’re going to push the start of Halloween back to the week of October 10th. Which is crazy late in my mind. And not something they’ve ever done. The latest it’s ever started was October 7th…i predict it’ll start this year between the 4th and 6th.
The only exception to the mini event would be if they made the season premiere tie-in a mini event…which just doesn’t feel likely.

SH wise, I think they’d give us at least 2 weeks with new content there. I’d expect to see an addition to SH (if we get one this year) either between Halloween and Thanksgiving mini event, or between Thanksgiving and Christmas. More likely, in my mind, is between Halloween and Thanksgiving…more down time.

And I don’t see them dropping SH WITH a Season Premiere Tie-In….at the same time. They’ve done tie-ins during events, but usually not the same day something else starts. Tie-ins usually run from Wednesday- Monday. So I think it’s better that we’ll see a tie-in this week, and next Tuesday we’ll see something with Gil.

Of course that’s just my 2 cents…just going by patterns. EA could throw everyone off and skip Halloween and do something else entirely…

      • If they do then they will get a very angry tapper. Brooders will be right behind me!

      • A well thought out explanation. Thanks so much for taking time to write that with your already busy life. I am always thankful for the small things in life, that make life big!

But seriously, is there a chance they won’t do THOH??? And tbh, I prefer winter

        • There’s a chance for anything really…but they’ll lose a lot of players if they don’t do Halloween. So I’d put it all on THOH in this situation..

      • I can’t fault your analysis – Hallowe’en should hit the first Tuesday in October and we’ll need time for an episode tie-in. But EA only gave us one week with SH Ch. 2, so it is still possible we’ll get a SH update within the two weeks between the end of the Sci Fi event and the beginning of the Hallowe’en event. On the other hand, will this provide enough incentive to deplete sprinkle-savings before they hit us with massive amounts of Hallowe’en goodies? (Ever hopeful here 🎃).

So, the real answer is: we’ll probably see an episode tie in and something else. Something not quite big enough to be a mini-event to eat up our doughnuts before Hallowe’en so we’ll all need to buy some more. Either a permanent item: another SH or Squidport or KL expansion (sorry, got away with myself there) or an upgradeable a la the giant redwood or a game-changer like the IRS office, or a temporary item: a Gil deal or a yard sale or Octoberfest or something no one’s thought of yet. Something like “the arrival of a brand-new outlet mall” maybe? We’ll have to wait and see.

  8. This may be the first thing I put on storage. Depends on how long the bad taste stays in my mouth from trying to defeat him again and again and again

  9. Didn’t hate the event but it did kind of fizzle out. Got all the prizes and evil home last Friday. I didn’t really craft too much. I tried to craft only what is needed to move on until I knew everything was taken care of. I did take the advice and craft a bunch of the Venus billboards after turning on my XP booster for a day too. Then spent my robot parts on the buildings I thought were cool. Not everything but made a future suburb.

Now what am I supposed to do with 12k antimatter and 23k future bucks? Did I miss why I had to collect all that? LOL!

  10. i think in the halloween update we will have a alein maggie story (sorry if i speled anything wrong)

  11. Knowing this was an NPC, I cut way down on my antimatter collecting. I have the vast majority of NPCs in storage because they seem to really slow down my load time when they’re all out and about. I think I let three of them roam around. Anyway, I knew this and Evil Homer would both be destined for the inventory so I didn’t really bother. Just now unlocked the plane, which I put in the same tiny desert as Homer’s dream house. It looks okay there, but it might also end up in storage. I really like a lot of stuff from this event, but talk about going out with a whimper.

  12. I’m ready for the next event. I’m tired of tapping robots. I’ve crafted everything, earned Homer’s Dream House. Now blowing all my Future Bucks on several of each building. I may design a SciFi area of my town. Disappointed in Mecha Hawk and Evil Homer are NPC’s. All that tapping for those items … boo.

  13. Straight to storage until I hear that they have jobs now. Only NPCs I’ve got out are Model Donut (should be Donut Model, but what’reyagonnado?) Lumpy, and the Egg Council Guy.

  14. All 3 of the last act ended in storage for me

  15. Finished the entire event a day or so ago. I’m not sure what it is…I think I just really don’t like this Act event format, because the end of this one was eh because of poor story format maybe? But so were Superheroes and Wild West.

I kind of liked WAY back when an event was just one huge scramble for things and you had a month to get everything. I also really, really liked the community prizes and friend actions (loved it during Wild West, even though I’m still conditioned to tap on prospectors and bandits in my friends’ towns!). I liked feeling like I was working toward something with other people or helping them reach the goal instead of just tap tap tap on my lonesome. Guess that’s one reason I come here! 😋

  16. Wow, I’m really surprised to hear that some people didn’t like this way of upgrading/crafting and were not able to craft all of the items. The way I see it, instead of wasting currency on upgrading, we were able get “credit” towards the upgrade simply by crafting. Sure, sometimes you had to craft an exta flower pot or tree to get to the next level but at least you got something for your currency. I NEVER hit the upgrade button, I did it all through crafting and I got all of the prizes over a week ago. But that’s just my experience. I absolutely prefered this way of crafting to that of previous events. I’ve always disliked wasting currency on upgrading (and increasing a tap radius, thank god they didn’t do that again!) and, in my opinion, this way worked much better.

    • Uhm…”an extra flower pot or a tree?” My storage is full of clutter I was forced to craft so I could get something I actually wanted. I too used crafting to level up…it was clutter-centric, to say the least.

I like crafting the old way. “Here’s the stuff…craft what you want…”

But that’s just my opinion…to each his own.

    • I agree about the “crafting to upgrade” part…I liked that, too! The only problem was that I think a LOT of folks didn’t understand that it worked that way (I really don’t understand why EA gives such minimal, confusing, non-intuitive “instructions”) and wasted a lot of their robot parts upgrading without crafting. (Frankly, if it weren’t for this site, I might have made the same mistake, too.)

The part I didn’t care for was the dual-currency thing…they should have stuck with just robot parts for crafting (but given us more of them) and done away with the future bucks (which also confused the heck out of a lot of people). I guess they didn’t want people to be able to level up the crafting track by just crafting a gazillion of one thing (besides the things on the crafting track), but I’m not 100% sure that I understand why…

      • Agree sitting on 20,000 future bucks and have no plan to use them maybe a couple of tulips

        • Tracy - 1ltwoody920

          Do recall,
          20,000 ~ 18,000 = 100 Flight to Venus Billboards
          100 FtV Billboards = 10,000 XP
With standard multipliers from SH and other in game, = ~50,000XP
          Grinding, grinding, grinding, grinding…….

    • My problem is I had to waste robot parts on multiple of the lower stuff to get to the upper levels, and it’s going to be tight to get the last building.

I have 20k fb but I don’t really want even more if the items where I already got all the demos. If I wanted more of anything it’s the stuff that still needs robot parts, but I’m not gonna have hardly any to spare.

  17. For those who may have been having trouble finding this NPC after you’ve earned him, keep in mind, like all NPCs (or at least all of the ones that move), he will spend a certain proportion of his time behind buildings and decorations. So, before you get too concerned that you don’t have him, be sure to try going into Move mode and turning off your buildings, decorations, and monorail stuff, and searching for him that way.

  18. I was very disappointed that both this AND Evil Homer were just NPCs. And Evil Homer is currently suffering from the R.O.S.A. bug, where he shows on the town census as “waiting for something to do”. It’s also odd that his animation makes the taskbar/score bar disappear momentarily, as though it opened some invisible dialog box.

  19. So ready for next event.

  20. …….. and then, Evil Homer just sorta drops in during the denouement — with NO indication that he was coming, other than his presence in the Interdimensional Travellers collction — and both Evil Homer and Mecha Hawk turn out to be non-playables. As others have said, the conclusion of this event was quite anticlimactic. Next!

  21. Mecha Hawk pfft more like mecha disappointment

  22. >What do you think of Mecha Hawk?
    Super boring!

    >Have you unlocked him yet?
    Yes

    >Ready for the event to be over?
    Yes

    >What do you think we’ll see next?
Halloween! But sure there will be some unexpected mini event before that and a season 28 promo.

  23. Did anyone actually get to make Home’s dream house? I’m down like 2000 robot parts and without the homer’s earning anymore it’s crazy. :/

    • I’ve got it. But i can tell you…it’s really not worth it. Honestly mine may end up in storage…

      • ALISSA- Echo your comment. Mine’s in storage & has been since I won it….along with Megahawk. I don’t need to be reminded how much I suck at the Poly Vac game 😂….💜X

    • Yeah, got it. And it’s like everybody else is saying…sorta boring and useless. I wish you could put it in the ocean, would make me want to keep it out if you could. Definitely storing it when I clean up my town after the event is over.

    • I just got it… I unlocked the Future Bucks conversion first, hoping that I could change Future Bucks into Robot Parts but it goes the other way. I have a ton of future bucks but won’t get to use them it appears.

    • I haven’t unlocked it either, Still 600 robotparts away.
And thanks for Alissa’s answer, that it’s not really worth it.
I maybe spend those robotparts on other decorations

  24. I hope Mecha Hawk becomes storable.

    • SMITTY959- My Mecha Hawk is in storage. Maybe I just got lucky. It kept hanging around my Poly Vac when I had to play & was making the game even trickier for me, so I stored him. I did win him really early, so maybe it was possible then. I’ve no intention of getting him out to see if he can be stored again. I’m a massive fan of NPCs but I’m just not feeling this one. I’d rather a robot….💜X

  25. Next time a similar event happens, crafting-wise, it will be extremely helpful to have a second calendar for the “robot parts” equivalent.

I’ve been able to complete the main questline easily but it’s coming down to the wire for me to get the last of the unique prizes in crafting. I got Homer’s Dream House ahead of Tomorrow’s Costington’s so I wouldn’t miss out on the main prize. I should be able to get Costington’s today, but I haven’t been able to craft a single Office Tower yet. 🙁

    • It’s so hard to do that because everyone crafts at different paces and earns at different rates. Crafting is so obscure because you get what you want…that it’s very difficult to create a calendar centered around it.

      • I get that, for most events, but this time around with crafting tied to upgrades, we ended up with 10 flower pots whether we wanted them or not. It’s the Future Bucks part that’s subjective in this event.

Early on you had a list of every item, how many robot parts they cost and a grand total of how many robot parts you’d need to fully demo all of them. I should have been paying closer attention and made my own calendar but it didn’t dawn on me until it was too late.

The frustration is compounded by the fact that there were limited ways to acquire robot parts. Starting up the mini game would give you 80, and then you could get 80-90 paying the game…and that was it. So 160-170 every 4 hours at best. Those of us who counted on being able to get through it all on 4 sessions per day are now scrambling, especially if we missed a few along the way. Act 3 being much shorter didn’t help.

Thanks for letting me vent. You guys do a spectacular job with this site and I really appreciate it. I’m just a little miffed at EA right now, especially since I haven’t had a single robot part daily bonus for this entire third act.

        • It’s still too subjective for a calendar. Depends on how you choose to craft to get your levels.

I was doing the math at each level trying to make items right at or just over the level requirement wanting to not “waste” my robot parts, but ultimately I wasted them on items I didn’t want and I’m hoping to squeeze in a 2k building that I didn’t do back when the level needed 1500 or 1600 to avoid “wasting” 400 or 500 but I really ended up wasting 1500 or 1600 on multiple items that cost 500 and 300.

The total robot parts I’ll need in the end is going to be much different from the number of parts others would have needed, so there is no way to calculate how many you need to earn each day to get there.

          • It is very subjective for a calendar, but there was a maths post on the EA Forum (inaccessible because the forum is not working, grr). Basically, to advance crafting and build Homer’s Dream Home you needed to spend 19,700 robot parts throughout the event. Over 34 days that’s 580 robot parts/day. This was only possible with four 4-hour cycles/day playing the SciFighter and clearing robots in your town (80 from robots and at least 65 from the polyvac four times per day). Doing this gave a margin of error of only nine visits. But crafting up to and including Homer’s Dream Home is not the same as crafting every demo – that needs 26,420 robot parts and could only be achieved with five 4-hour cycles every day.

So not enough visits, easing up after achieving previous act prizes, low SciFighter scores, oopses with the level-up button, and over-crafting lower level items (above what was needed to advance) have all contributed to making Homer’s Dream Home difficult to get. Instead we’ve all got an abundance of future bucks and not enough robot parts. Not really well-balanced but we can hope EA improves drop rates in the future (pun intended 😋).

    • This is the first time that they have done crafting/updating this way. So…there was no way to know how it was going to work. “They” is us…and for the most part, we are subject to the same “trying to figure this out” as most players when they throw a curve at us. This one really made no sense, because it didn’t adhere to any normal crafting protocol. The updating levels bit didn’t stick to a pattern. In my game, I would finish the demos for one item, and it would do what you expected. With others, it wouldn’t, and then I would be surprised when I was suddenly awarded a new item to craft.

I am still closing in on Homer’s House…but never even started a couple of the other items. Go figure.

If I did a calendar is would have just said…YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE…with a bunch of items. And then…there is the whole, “is it really worth your time?” aspect…to which most of this stuff for me would be a big “No.”

EA…really needs to make this aspect less convoluted, and more rewarding.
