# Halloween 2016 101: Act 1 Math

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Seeing a LOT of questions/concerns in the comments about whether or not you’ll be able to earn enough film () each day to keep up with the calendar and unlike all of the prizes.

So let’s calm those worries and quickly breakdown the math and how to succeed in getting everything….

First…let’s remember the Ralph way of tapping.  Don’t over think it.  Just have fun and tappa, tap, tap. 🙂

There are several ways to earn film during Act 1.  I’m just going to cover the bare minimum freemium ways that apply to everyone.  If you have premium characters/buildings that earn currency..well you’ll just be WAY ahead of the game 🙂

So according to the Calendar you’ll need 3,408  /day to earn all of the prizes.  Seems like a daunting task, huh?

Let’s break down how simple it really is…

Here are the items we have a firm daily control over…

Tapping Feral Monsters

So these guys have max of 40 in your town at once, with a bank of 40.  (so 80 max)  The files indicate that the spawn rate is every 20 minutes…now here’s what’s a little more confusing, the number that spawn every 20 minutes.

It appears to me, based on how i’m interpreting things that it’s NOT 1 every 20 minutes (and that’s based just on what i see in my game..these things are everywhere!).  It looks like it’s a rate of 4/20 minutes that spawn. That’s how i’m interpreting what I see in the files…I could be wrong, but that’s how it looks to me.

For safety sake I’m going to assume you can tap 120 of these/day.  Which is less than i’ve managed to tap today, but I’m being safe here.

Each Feral Monster pays out 6  when tapped (they also drop crafting currency, but that’s on a random basis..and not always.  And we’ll cover that in the crafting post).  So 6 x120 monsters is… 720/day (at least) from tapping feral monsters.

Neighbor Actions

You’re allowed 9o total neighbor actions/day (1 tap=1 action…and we’ve got a neighbor actions covered on this post.  Towards the bottom).  Each tap yields       5 .

So 5 x 90 actions= 450/day

Giant Monsters

The Super Monsters spawn at a rate of 2/4hrs, and will continually spawn at that rate (even if you haven’t cleared them yet) until you have 10 in your town at once. (in otherwords if you clear them every 4hrs, you’ll always have 2 Giant Monsters waiting for you when they’re cleared).

For now, you earn 150/Giant Monster you defeat.  This equates to 300/4hrs.  In a 24hr period you’ll spawn 12 monsters (and in this case you count 12/day…since they can accumulate.  So you don’t lose time for sleep..).

So 150 x 12 monsters/day= 1,800/day.

Trick-Or-Treating

This is one thing that will increase as time goes on and you earn more MAG points. (I know a bunch of you are confused no MAG points, I’ll have a full post on it I promise)  Initially you can only send Bart Trick-or-Treating (Squeaky Voiced Teen too, if you have him).  But if you craft 1 item that earns MAG points, you’ll unlock Milhouse too.  So we’re going to figure you’ve got at least Bart and Milhouse to trick-or-treat.  With the understanding that you’ll unlock more characters to trick-or-treat as you progress in Act 1…

So Bart & Milhouse will earn 30  each every 4hrs from Trick or Treating.  Let’s assume you do this at least 4 times/day.

30 x 4= 120 x 2 (for Bart and Milhouse)= 240 /day via Trick or Treating just from Bart and Milhouse.

So right now we’re at 3,210 /day…just from the minimal items in this event. And with things you can control.

But the Calendar says you need to earn 3,408 /day to stay on track and earn all of the prizes.  So how do you make up the remaining 200 ?

There are a few ways….

Questline…

You’ll earn 400  from the questline (this is just from Completed Task rewards, I’m not including Homer fighting the Giant Monster or Bart Trick or Treating, that’s part of the questline because they’re covered above)

So 400 /13ish days that Act 1 lasts is about 30ish /day on average from the questline…

Daily Challenges

You will occasionally receive a daily challenge that will earn you more .  From what I’ve seen it’s a reward of 350.
Of course the total amount for act 1 will vary for each player, based on how many you get throughout act 1

When your friends tap on cameras on your town you can clear those spots to earn 1 / tap.  Let’s assume you earn 20/day from this.

MAG Prizes

Several of the MAG prizes award .  (350  each time, for a total of 1,750 f0r Act 1).

This will be MORE than enough to push you over the top with .

As you can see there are PLENTY of opportunities to earn MORE than enough  throughout Act 1 to unlock all the prizes, at a bare minimum play.

And of course there are a large chunk of you who will be able to earn more  through various other ways.  Here are some other ways you can earn

-Character tasks at MAG.  Count Burns, Booberella, Suzanne the Witch and the Space Mutant (all characters from previous THOH Events) all have the ability to earn 50 /4hrs with a task at MAG.  This could equate to an additional 800/day  (if you have all 4 and clear it 4 times a day).

-Premium characters Trick-or-Treating.  Squeaky Voiced Teen unlocks at the Rich House for Trick-or-Treating along with Bart initially.  He can earn an extra 50/4hrs for Trick-or-Treating.  That’s an additional 200/day (clear/resetting it 4 times/day) if you have him.

-Unlocking more characters for Trick-or-Treating via MAG points.  Several other characters will unlock with more MAG points as you progress through Act 1.

So the bottom-line relax.  This one really is easy.  And you should have no problem unlocking everything with steady game play… 🙂

Remember…have some fun!  It’s a game, it’s made to be fun! 🙂

What are your thoughts on the math of Halloween Act 1?  Easy stuff?  Feel like you can relax now?  Excited about Halloween now that we’re getting into it?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

My mag points aren’t being added on. Have been stuck on 2,025 for ages

How can I get more neighbors?

• sandrashill

Tap on the Add Friends option in the menu at the top of the blog and go to the most recent Add Friends post.

Hello, when one visits some of the neighbors now (and gets film rolls) and some more later, does this impact the timer (in the background that defines when one can collect film rolls in neighbors’ towns) in a negative way? Am I harming me when I visit some of the towns later, should I better wait for tomorrow?

Assuming that you’re starting with a “clean slate” (meaning, nothing has been tapped for at least 24 hours), the first tap is the one that starts the 24-hour timer for the period during which you can collect event currency for that “day.” You can visit other neighbors anytime you want during that 24 hours, without it affecting the “earnings” timer. (However, each town also has its own timer, so you won’t be able to tap in that town again until that town’s 24-hour timer has finished.)

I actually take advantage of this set-up by tapping in Other Springfield as part of my “wake up” routine in the morning, so that I’ve started the clock and don’t have to worry too much about timeslip. Then, in the evening, when I’m done working and aren’t pressed for time like I would be during the day, I’ll do my actual neighbor visits. If it’s an event like the last one, where visiting my neighbors didn’t benefit *them*, I’ll just visit 30 neighbors, to get all of the event currency, so that I have plenty of neighbors left to use if I want to do my neighbor visits earlier the next day than I did that day.

But, with this event, I do have to worry a little more about time-slip — no so much in terms of my being able to get the event currency (since I freeze the clock very early), but, rather that my neighbors’ 24-hour clocks don’t get to too late for me to be able to visit, since I’m trying to get to all of them or at least half of them, every day to help them out. (I’m not sure if I expressed that last part clearly…let me know if I need to clarify.)

Have feral beasts all over town- can’t tap any with wings. Get maybe 2-5 “regular” beasts that I can actually rap and get film. Anyone else have a town with beasts they can’t tap? I can see them but the tapping does nothing. They just fly around.

I’m missing something on this one, I’ve been playing for years. I’m way short on film and I think it’s due to hounds hiding behind buildings. Anyone having this problem.

What order do the kids unlock on trick & treating?
So far I believe the order has been: Bart & Squeeky Voiced Teen, Milhouse, Martin, Nelson, Ralph. There is 3 more for me to unlock and I was wondering what kids they are and what order they come in.

Thank you!

Was there ever a crafting post done yet? This post (and a few others) mentions that there will be one posted, but I haven’t seen it yet.

• sandrashill

Do you realize that you’ve posted this exact same question at least four times now? And at least one of those times was on the crafting post itself!

Sorry – I’m not trying to be a jerk, but I know how much time Alissa puts into this site, and I gotta think this must be frustrating for her…

At any rate… I’ve tried to help you with your other question (about the MAG “recruiting” message), even though I’m not Alissa. If the crafting post that’s actually there (it’s not labeled “crafting post,” but that’s what it is) isn’t giving you the answers/info you need, maybe you can try asking specific questions that someone here can try to answer for you…

• Sandra…I understand you’re trying to help…but seriously let it go. It’s not even remotely frustrating to me. It’s more frustrating having to moderate your multiple comments in reply to HLH giving the wrong information. Take a deep breath and a step back… 🙂

The other post was NOT the crafting post. As I’ve said NUMEROUS times now, I have not written the crafting post yet. That post was a post about MAG Points, not crafting. Although crafting was briefly mentioned in it…it is NOT about crafting. In fact that post says I’ll detail this more on the upcoming crafting post.

So let’s not yell at readers for asking questions by giving them incorrect information…

You’re right and, for the third time, I sincerely apologize.

• apology accepted. 🙂

Sandra, no worries. Everyone makes mistakes occasionally. I’ve learned that the best thing anyone can do is learn from them, and move on. Life is just too short. No hard feelings. Have a good day!

Hi Sandra, sorry for the repeat question. I wasn’t sure if my other posting on the MAG points post went through. It was late when I posted (so I could possibly have some half asleep induced phantom posts) but I don’t think I did 4 separate posts. I know about this one and the one I wasn’t sure went through (and there may possible be a ‘me too’ type of post in reply to someone else asking about crafting, but I’m not entirely sure). Again, I’m sorry that asking upset you. I promise I wasn’t waste Alissa’s time with spam, I know how hard she works on this site.

• KimberHolly

I was coming to post the same thing! That is my main concern right now as film is accumulating well, but I’m wayyyy behind with crafting 🙁
