It’s Halloween in our pocket-size Springfields! Yes that magical time of the year when our towns turn dark, our water becomes mucky, there are monsters everywhere to battle and (as with all events) there are LOADS of items from Halloweens past to spend those sprinkles on!
Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks as awesome as this because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the Island of Dr. Hibbert to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding fiery Island to your Springfield…

If you like it and have fond memories of the episode, grab it. Otherwise…it’s a pass. It’s massive, so it takes up a ton of ocean space, and it’s basically a floating decoration. Honestly, a bit underwhelming in my opinion.

Personally I think this is a freemium pass. Over priced and over sized. Save your money for something better in the pipeline…
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do. And I can tell you as a premium player, I’m passing on this one. Doesn’t excite me enough to spend the donuts. But whatever you decide just remember this will be leaving our games soon, so make your final decision before it leaves our games on October 18th…

I got it at the beginning just for the mag points for more trick or treaters the xp is very good and now ive got 11 trick or treaters earning, its paying off. It is big more water would be nice at least a row

I think it looks cool, so I probably would have bought it anyway, but I also love that THoH episode, so it was a must buy for me! I don’t actually see it all that often where I put it, but when I do, it always brings a smile to my face.
I have buyers remorse on this one. I regret not checking this site first! What was I thinking???

I like it a lot. Yes it’s big but what else are you going to use all that water for? It’s the perfect place for storing your bonus multipliers.

I bought it and I’m happy with it. Since it’s on the water I had plenty of available space.
I want this almost enough to justify the pre-BF purchase. I’m all about the water in this game and I would prefer this island to be larger than it is! The bonus percentage and the MAG points are nice, but I would get it just for the sake of the decoration itself. An event would be better, but I still wish I could get this. Maybe I still will as the clock winds down on availability.
Personally, all the items that are out of scale set my design-OCD off. We’ve had a couple of premium items that are like this – interesting in their design but way off in scale. They are almost always a no for me because of that one element.
As others have also said, the ocean is a crowded area and were we able to put it further out to sea, I may have been mildly tempted because of the ‘Halloween element’. As it stands, the Sea Temple from last year, the ‘WaterWorld’ and various other ocean items are relegated to storage because I wanted the ocean to look like sea and not a parking lot for items. 😉
This is really disappointing because they could have taken this idea and made a complete THOH event around the Island of Dr Hibbert and all the animals skins for alot of characters in the towns. Instead EA throw the island in as an expensive donut buy in a minority THOH role with no character interaction. Wookie wrote up a great page last Halloween about seeing an event around this and I think that would’ve been a great event.
So many great animal skins for the characters in Springfield if they’d gone with an Island of Dr Hibbert event, but I guess that won’t be happening now haha.
I completely agree with you, it is a waste of a theme for future THOH events. And although I like the look of the island, I pass on it, not only because I’m freemium, but also because there is not much space in the ocean to fit all the things I already have without placing them right next to eaxh other (which I dont want – I want to actually see some water)
Do I wish they had centered the whole THOH event around that episode? Absolutely. Did I also harbor a futile hope of having some benefit of future skins and characters Interactions? I did. Do I regret buying an admittedly over priced decoration that I will likely store after Halloween? H3ll No! Love that episode, love my new island, hoping positive feedback has an effect next year. Hear us EA!
When is EA going to open up more ocean space? Having it 3 spaces wide would be a major help with all the boats, islands and other floaties they have been offering us.
Got it, my “Gone Fission” boat is docked on the mountain side. The large island is as far out to see as I can put it, across from the Springfield dump which is located on the shore. The island looks like an incinerator for the dump. The Greenpeace boats are not happy about that and are blocking the path to the island.
The ocean has always being under utilised for me. So I got it to support the bonus percentage.
I got it and instantly wished I didn’t. Don’t waste the donuts. One of my biggest TSTO regrets.
Got it myself! It is massive, so unless you have plenty of space on your water and spare donuts go for it! If not you aint missing jack! Would like another strip of sea added think it’s definitely overdue!

Looks cool but it’s so tucked away I keep forgetting I have it.
Bought it, wish I hadn’t…the thing is way too big and the color scheme is a weird lime green that goes with nothing in the game.
I love my XP bonuses, but this will go in storage at the end of the event.

It’s just a joke…
Pyramid scheme…someone claims to have an amazing thing and needs people to buy in, with the promise of profits. You buy in, get two friends to buy in, they get two friends each, and so on. The person who started it makes off with lots of money, everyone is gets little or nothing.
The whole thing is poking fun at Scientology (look up the term “Operating Thetan.”)

The scale is so far offfrim everything else in the ocean.
I get it, it can’t be to scale but still.
If only we had lots more ocean so it could be put far out to sea to give it that island in the distance perspective. Sigh…..
Yeah, I got it, long before this blog was posted. Do I regret it? Yup. Looks cool, but does absolutely nothing, no task associated with it, waste of space, doesn’t even earn income.
You’re forgetting the 2.5% bonus, say you earn $500,000 a day, that’s $12,500 extra the island will earn, much better than $600 every 12 hours if it paid out currency.

I felt the same, but then I bought two mystery boxes to finally get the sepulcher of evil, and between the Crazy Iguana Lady I want (already have Cat Lady) and Gravedigger Billy when he comes out, I don’t think I can pull off the island. I would consider it towards the end of the event if donuts allowed, but it’s too little time and I want to be sure I can cover the things I want more.
Ok, I got it and I enjoy it. But I must make a stupid confession in case somebody else thinks like I did. I half hoped that I could also put things *on* the island. No…..no, you can’t 🙂
Now *that* would be an awesome idea to justify a proper water expansion, if done right.
Actually might be kind of cool if the island was clickable, and maybe go to a cut scene animation of the island inhabitants, or better yet, although may end up forgotten like Krustyland, have it actually go to a customizable island area….
Or some kind of mini-game, or animated-by-cut-scenes side-scroller…
