Halloween 2016 Prize Guide: Act 1, Prize 5 Count Burns Castle

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Halloween in our pocket-size Springfields!  Yes that magical time of the year when our towns turn dark, our water becomes mucky and there are monsters everywhere to battle.  Just like October in every other suburban town in America, no?

The Halloween Event is in full swing on our devices and it’s full of creepy decorations, buildings and characters…all designed to get us into the Halloween spirit!

This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the First Act you’re tasked with collecting Film Strips (ico_cur_thoh2016_filmstrip_lg) to unlock each prize!

The fifth Act 1 Prize is awarded at 29,950 ico_cur_thoh2016_filmstrip_lg is Count Burns’ Castle, because every count needs his castle…

So let’s take a closer look at this fifth prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…

Once you’ve collected 29,950ico_cur_thoh2016_filmstrip_lg you’ll automatically be awarded the Castle and you’ll see the item unlocked message popup (sorry guys, I forgot to grab the screenshot on this one..)

And you’ll have the option to place it in your Springfield immediately or store it in your inventory for later.  Remember if you store it you’ll have to go back into your inventory to retrieve it.

Once placed a little bit of dialogue pops up from Count Burns, but that’s it.  No questline (other than the initial one telling you to unlock it) and nothing to help you earn more ico_cur_thoh2016_filmstrip_lg…just unlock the prize and move on.

Here are some quick facts about the Castle:

Size: 10×10
Build Time: 4hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Indolence +10
Earns: $200, 20xp/12hrs
MAG Points: Earns 360 ico_cur_thoh2016_magpoints_lg when built.
What Does it Do?: Earns money….Mr. Burns will have a 4hr task there (Have a Drink, Earns $175, 45xp).  Building does have some animation when in use…fog moves around the castle…in a creepy sort of way.

And there you have it, the details behind Count Burns’ Castle, the fifth Halloween prize!

What’s Next?

ico_thoh2016_funeralcoins_pack1_lgTechnically the Small Obol Pack is next…at 33,650 ico_cur_thoh2016_filmstrip_lg, but that’s not a tangible prize for your Springfield.  it’s just some additional crafting currency.  So the next price we’ll cover in the rundown post is the…

unlock_spacemarshmallow Space Marshmallow- Awarded at 44,300ico_cur_thoh2016_filmstrip_lg.  This will be the next (and final Act 1) prize we breakdown in the prize guide post.

So that my friends is the full breakdown of the fifth (and sixth) Act 1 prize!

What do you think of Count Burns’ Castle? Safe to assume you’ve all unlocked it by now? Where have you placed it? Aiming for a Halloween themed area in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I really feel like Count Burns should have a task at Count Burns’ Castle.

  2. Space mutant, Booberella, Suzanne the Witch, and Count Burns all have tasks that earn film strips. I wish I’d realized it sooner.

  3. Just started getting the winged feral rat things. They take 2 taps to kill and give 6 film per tap. So a total of 12 film. Not sure If they take the spot of 2 regular feral or not. When they are motionless for a second they jump in the air and hover for a second or two.

  4. Has anyone noticed that some of the rat-dog-monsters have now grown wings? They take a double tap to remove.

  5. Interesting. I finished the prize track today, got the space marshmallow, and some of the beasts that appear in my town are now winged. Apparently the winged ones need two taps to clear (and pay double as well, 6 film each tap). Did I get early something, that should appear in act 2?

  6. I’ve just had a feral beast that I had to tap on twice. It looked like a regular one, except for a pair of purple wings. Anyone else had these?

  7. Are the purple winged monsters new today or did I just not notice until now? Haven’t worked out yet if they’re different to the normal monsters

  8. I’m done getting all my prizes for this Act, but I’m only on crafting Level 7 at the construction yard. The obols seem to be harder to come by…are these crafting items going to go away at the end of this Act, or are we going to be able to work on these items for the duration of the Halloween Event? I’ve briefly looked for answers to this question, but I’m not coming up with anything and the closer we get to the end of Act 1 the more anxiety I have lol. Thanks in advance!

    • These are like the VIP prizes in the Casino event, they’ll be around for the duration and they aren’t meant to be acquired quickly. But if you look further ahead on the MAG prize track, you’ll see prizes of 100 and 200 obols that will boost our totals and we’ll get more trick or treaters too.

It’s definitely a grind but I think it will be doable…and as Alissa pointed out somewhere else, if it really starts to get too difficult, EA has a habit of tweaking the drop rate as the events progress 🙂

    • I’m not an expert, but only the main Act 1 prize track says anything about new prize in approximately 4 days. The crafting and MAG prizes look like they’re designed to last the full event and don’t have any similar prize countdown.

  9. So is it a bug I see Count Burns in neighbor towns? Cuz I don’t got him.

    • I have him from a previous year.

    • They haven’t re-released him yet for this year. He was available in a past event.

    • He’s from past events. Typically when a past character is useful in an event they are made available to newer players, it’ll probably cost donuts, and typically there is a bit of a wait to give some extra benefit as a reward for long time players or those who purchased previously.

  11. I love this event! There are things hopping , creeping and crawling all over my town! I just got the marshmallow monster and he can turn himself into a Homer clone…very cool. Can’t wait to see what other shapes he takes, right now he has become a cannon and is shooting green goo balls at the monsters….get e’m marshie!

  12. This is unrelated to the post. But I am having a problem where my game keeps downloading updates every single time. I am talking huge updates that take 10 to 15 minutes to download every time. I have been playing for two years starting this December. This has never happened and of course I can’t just go in to the game without the update. Oh and the update is downloading via WiFi not 4g. Any ideas on what is going on or is someone else having the same problem?

    • Saw from another forum that the issue might be that you’re starting the game from the ‘Notification tab’ on your phone (I.e. when the game tries to put your attention to something by showing a notifiication) and not from the regular icon. Dunno if this is correct or not, but I have had the same issue and its been bloody irritating.

  13. My Count Burns can now earn film, like Suzanne the Witch.

  14. I’m a little, ok maybe more than a little, underwhelmed by it particularly when compared to Dr. Lenny’s Lab.

Is there a task to go along with it or is it a pure decoration?

And, is there any significance to the Orating Thespian Levels in the MAG?

  15. Yeah! I just got the space marshmallow. Now its time for bonuts!

  16. Okay, how do we gat Count Burns? Thanks.

  17. 2 days behind due to kindle UK slow update but ahead of the calendar now, sitting at 35000 and 4 days to go, 🙂 happy now and liking this event for the first time, so orginised

  18. It sure was nice of Mr. Burns to invite us to a midnight dinner at his country house in… Pennsylvania!

  19. I have a quick question. It doesn’t really concern the event, however. I have been away from the game for over a year as the device I was using at the time was unable to hold the game. Now that I am back, I want to be able to rebuild my town. If I blow up Krustyland, will it in turn blow up Springfield, or vice versa?

  20. Unrelated, but I’m the guy who was whining about the feral guys not spawning in 1 of my games. I finally figured out that I have em-they just aren’t running around in my town. there was adaily challenge to tap 60 of them & I was able to tap on the button & discovered em frozen, hiding under my buildings. When I met the goal the only way to find them is in edit mode(making the buildings, rails etc. semi-invisible.) dunno if this is a glitch or a way for ea to punish those of us who’ve got a little farming/hoarding problem:) nevertheless, hope this helps others who can’t find monsters ( I’m sure I’m not the only one here who has this issue)

    • Sounds like a glitch, In my came they start out all over town but mostly congregate at the base of the MAG Building or at least near it after a few minutes. Although every once in awhile there is a weird straggler that seems to get stuck somewhere.

    • I have noticed mine hang out at the corner of the MAG tower. They also end up in Springfield Heights on the opposite side of town!

    • I only have five brown houses that are close together, and some of my beasts get stuck in them. I don’t think it is intentionally aimed at farmers. 🙂

    • I’m having the same issue, except I can’t find them in edit mode. I finally decided to delete my big house farm and every time I stored a group of houses several feral guys pooed out! I wonder if I either had too many items in my town or the house farm caused it…

    • I’ve had the same problem and seem to have figured it out. The rats need space to run between objects. If you have lots of stuff pushed together without a gap between them, when they spawn they just get stuck wherever they appear. I did some selective pruning of trees, shrubs, decorations and the like, and moved buildings apart. Lo and behold, my little monsters are now running to the MAG building!

Now I have to break up some modest building farms (mostly free ones from various events) to free up the ones that appear there. Tedious.

      Hope that helps.

  21. I think this is the worse Halloween event! It is so boring and it is taking age’s to get prizes.

  22. Not a big fan of this building… feel like it’s too big!!

    • Yeah, the castle is TALL! My mutant ectoplasm spewing hellhounds hide behind it all the time. But a nice thing about the puppies is that they all seem to sprint to stand in a pile outside the MAG office, at least for me.

  23. Will we get Count Burns with his castle?
