Addicts Bracket Challenge: Best THOH Segment Round 1, Part 3

Note from Alissa: Sorry this is up a little late today…it’s been a crazy day.  Happy Voting!

We present to you TSTO Addicts’ Best THOH Segment Bracket Battle.

Below you’ll find all 81 beloved THOH segments that will have aired in the first 600 episodes of The Simpsons up to and including this seasons’ THOH XXVII. The segments have been organized into three conferences based on their sequential appearance in each THOH anthology:  first, second, or third segment. The segments will battle each other in four rounds of head-to-head-to-head matchups, that we hope produce the most debate in the comments below. We’ll do our best to convince you of each segments’ merits, but it’s ultimately up to you. Twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays over the next three weeks, we’ll post the matchups and your votes over the next 48 hours will determine which segments advance to the next round, until we’ve crowned “The Best THOH Segment” on Monday October 31st.

Today, we conclude Round 1 of TSTO Addicts’ Best THOH Segment Bracket Battle. Details about this Bracket Battle can be found at Addicts Bracket Challenge: Best THOH Segment Round 1, Part 1

  1. I missesd it again… 🙁

  2. I finally voted in the Halloween bracket battle, I didn’t even know that I had only had 2 days to vote. I haven’t watched the new THOH yet let alone the 28th season so I didn’t vote for the segments. There were two that was hard to choose: bad dream house + ET go home (picked BDH) and BI bartificial intelligence + school is hell (pick BI, love to see David in our games) the others are married to the blob, hungry are the damned, the Bart zone, a clockwork yellow, heck house, telepaths of glory and I’ve grown a costume on your face (so many potential costumes for Springfielders). Also thanks for putting this together safi, its great to do the brackets for Halloween.

  3. Would like to give my input, however, I haven’t seen most of these from the past eight or so years since our family went tv free. No way to legally stream Simpsons here in Canada that I have found so until I can binge it on Netflix or crave, I will leave the voting to the experts! Fun to be reminded of some of the old ones though. Thanks!

  4. How exactly do you know what the new Halloween segments are?

And ‘The Greatest Story Ever Holed’ should have won.

  5. There was a segment in a normal episode i belive, narrated and drawn in a specific manner, horror of course. This is the best imo

    • Are you talking about Dark Stanley? Or the “simpsons show’s-too-short cartoon” where Bart and Milhouse TP the school and get picked up by an eagle? Those were actually really creepy, mostly because of the animation and music

  6. I figured I was not the only one who has a strong preference for the early THoH, they seem naturally more funny instead of forced laughter. Anything with Kang and Kodos was great. I always laugh at Homer lighting the BBQ with the mushroom cloud fireball. The cursed frozen yogurt. Willie in most scenes….

  7. That was hard! I love “The Others” but I also really liked “I’ll grow a costume to your face” – I decided Others in the end.
I also really liked “School is hell” but “Clown without pity” won me over.

  8. The oldest episodes every time for this guy. I didn’t vote so as not to skew the results.

    • I agree completely. The older episodes (of any kind) of The Simpsons are by far the best.

    • I’d say I go with the older episodes the vast majority of the time, but I think Send in the Clones got robbed this time. I enjoyed that one more than Attack of the 50 Foot Eyesores, though I do have to give the latter props for being the first appearance of Lard Lad.

    • How is it skewing the results if that’s what you like? If you haven’t seen the newer ones, that’s one thing, but if you have and still prefer the older ones I don’t understand the problem.

I voted 99% for the oldest episode each time after reading all the descriptions to make sure I wasn’t misremembering a later episode. My picks were what I genuinely enjoyed the most.
