It’s Halloween in our pocket-size Springfields! Yes that magical time of the year when our towns turn dark, our water becomes mucky, there are monsters everywhere to battle and (as with all events) there are LOADS of items from Halloweens past to spend those sprinkles on!
Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks as awesome as this because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the House on Scary Hill to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this spooky abode to your Springfield…

Pros
-Bart has a permanent 4hr task there to Spend the Night on a Dare (Earns $260, 70xp)
-Animated when in use (Lights in the house turn on)
-Nice addition to a spooky area of Springfield
Cons
-No questline associated with it (there is a little bit of dialogue that pops up when you place from Cookie Kawn)
-It’s MASSIVE in size
Final Thought
Premium
It’s a 90 donut premium building with no questline, and 1 character task there. For Bart. Who has a lot of other tasks.
So here’s what I think. If you’re a premium player and you have a design in mind for this house…grab it. Otherwise, pass. Save the donuts for something else.
Freemium
Personally I think this is a freemium pass. Over priced and over sized. Plus I’m not thrilled that the task is for Bart, as if he doesn’t have enough to do already. Save your money for something better in the pipeline…
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do. And I can tell you as a premium player, I’m passing on this one. Doesn’t excite me enough to spend the donuts (and you all should know by now Halloween isn’t my favorite, so I don’t have an ideal design plan for this one). But whatever you decide just remember this will be leaving our games soon, so make your final decision before it leaves our games on November 4th…

One would think when They Say it leaves the store November 4th, it would be at the end of the day of November 4th, not when it becomes November 4th. I was short a few donuts and was grinding my monorail to get it thinking I had until the end of the 4th to pick it up (for the 800+ MAG points), got the 5 donuts to put me over 90, went to buy it and it was gone!
One would think they meant the end of the day of the 4th, but one is apparently wrong 🙁
Saving all my donuts for black Friday, going to have a massive 200 to spend, characters top of the list and save some for Christmas update
I have a tough choice and 5 options.
I can have one and only one. Do I buy:
– The flashback bundle 3
– Shawna
– The zombie grill
– The scary house on the hill
– or do I save the doughnuts for round 3?
I’m torn!
I have Boobarella so I don’t need to save for her but I’ll be gutted if I miss something great in round 3. Then again, I’ve kinda wanted Shawna for a while.

The plus side is, the 4hr task that uses Bart is paying at a premium rate. As unless u are a veteran player who has 100’s of skins, it’s basically the only task that pays well for 4hrs for Bart. Keep that in mind for those hardcore 4hr tappers (outside of events)
Bart is no concern to me personally but I like the building regardless and will most likely snap it up.

I wasn’t really interested in buying this, until I visited Wookiee’s town and saw it.. then I bought it as soon as I went back into my town.

I quite enjoyed the House on Haunted Hill movie though it received bad reviews. Jean Grey actress is quite hot in it.
I really like this, but it is just too big. Running out of room for all the huge items. For the same donuts, I got a few more wailing walls…the combo of rent and XP bonus is just too good a deal to pass up. Plus, they are small and easy to hide behind other buildings when the event is over. Maybe next year on the house…

Got it just because I like it and because its grass matches that of the Scary Dock so hopefully I will be able to use the two of them together in some way… Not a clue where they will go as yet because I already need more land (& sEA!) 😊

Alissa I have a question for you. I have completed the last part of the mag task with nothing left to collect or upgrade.
If I wait to buy the hunted house when part three beings will the mag counter start over over for additional prizes?
My understanding is this is it for MAG prizes, nothing new is coming in that regard…
So, I’m a freemium player (mostly) and I bought the scary house on the (non-existent) hill. The art work is so pretty…I love it, even though it doesn’t do much. Maybe because I’m basically just into the decorating aspect of tsto game. Recommend!

This house looks the part but I don’t have room for it.
I’m with you, I think if it weren’t so huge I may have suckered for it. Recently EA is releasing way to many humongous buildings, for my taste, that would have looked just as good scaled back.
If you’re looking for something to buy in regards to Halloween for your town and are tight on donuts, there are still a few cool things left to come (possibly) so make sure you really want this house. I do like the look of the house and it has the same color grass as mega blinky house but that price is just too much for what it does.
As a Rifftrax fan (“Carnival of Souls” live tonight! ) since the beginning of MST3K, I had to get this one immediately. Anyone up for a “Party at the House on Haunted Hill”?” 🙂

My favorite thing about TSTO is designing my town, so I usually buy things if I like the way they look, regardless of tasks/bonuses. I bought this one right away and I’m really excited about it!
Noticed really fat flying rats in my town this morning. Takes like four taps to kill, which gives out more currency, so that’s cool.

Have you guys thought about doing an updated “you really should buy!” ? I’m getting too lazy to read through all the “Should I buys” that end up with a ” not really- save your sprinklies”. 😊
To be honest, as a completionist this is one of my biggest regrets. At this time last year Gil sold me the ridiculously overpriced necronomicon but at least Burns’s task there made it work it plus it was hands down the best item last Halloween, a centerpiece.
This has a very boring task that will rarely get used. It blends in well but doesn’t really stand out. Really, unless you really, really want it, don’t. Just don’t. Besides they’ll probably bring it back next year, way cheaper, like the Necronomicon. Thanks EA.
That’s been a thought I’ve kept during this event…EA has either given us a chance to get something massively discounted, or bundled it with items for less than the single item was previously (Ghost Ship, I’m looking at you).
I want this house, because I love Halloween, but for the cost and what it does, I could get other items that provide a bonus or a character.
Oh yeah forgot about the ghost ship. I don’t mind people getting discounts later. Personally I’m just glad to have it. The necronomicon is one of my 3 favorite items in my town. This was just so underwhelming.
And love the Ash profile pic. I haven’t seen this week yet, I should do that now.

It’s the only thing that may dethrone Simpsons as my favorite show. I’ve never laughed so hard, especially the colon monster. I’m surprised my neighbors weren’t knocking on my door.
And season 2 has gotten crazier…loving it!
