It’s Halloween in our pocket-size Springfields! Yes that magical time of the year when our towns turn dark, our water becomes mucky and there are monsters everywhere to battle. Just like October in every other suburban town in America, no?
The Halloween Event is in full swing on our devices and it’s full of creepy decorations, buildings and characters…all designed to get us into the Halloween spirit!
This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story. To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act. Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event. For the Third Act you’re tasked with collecting Megaphones (
) to unlock each prize!
The Fifth Act 3 Prize awarded at 50,850 is the Mad Doctor’s Castle, because of course Springfield needs another castle…
So let’s take a closer look at this fifth prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…
Once you’ve collected 50,850 you’ll automatically be awarded the castle and you’ll see this message popup:
And you’ll have the option to place it in your Springfield immediately or store it in your inventory for later. Remember if you store it you’ll have to go back into your inventory to retrieve it.
Mad Doctor’s Castle does not come with a questline (other than the initial one telling you to unlock it). Nothing to help you earn more …just unlock the prize and move on. It does however come with a little bit of dialogue:
Frinkenstein: Finally, I’ve found a place to hang my hat. Although, I don’t wear a hat. They don’t fit my odd-shaped head. Which only makes my need for a hat that much greater. Another of life’s great mysteries, like why won’t the lady barista make eye contact with me?

What Does it Do?: Animated when in use (dark clouds form over the castle). Willie has a task here. Straighten Up the Lab, 4hrs (Earns $175,45xp).

There are a lot of things Mad about this Doctor’s Castle.
So I’ve been treating the events prizes like themed lands at an amusement park. I have my Halloween area, my Christmas area (which is still being sorted), my future area, etc. However, with the sheer size of these prizes, I’m finding future events of the same category are not going to fit into my designated themed areas without shuffling or expansion of land ( I have all but two land tiles and two water tiles to buy before I’ve bought up all available spaces). At this rate, I’ll have to decide what is displayed and what goes into storage (of course, nothing that gives me bonuses! 😉 ) so things just aren’t shoehorned into sections and end up looking awful.

My thoh set isn’t complete though, I thought about buying the marshmallow mutant. But it’s not that serious right now. My Hween / Xmas town looks amazing. I have a whole area dedicated to just this event and probably for the coming Xmas event.
I think it’s a nice blending of world’s. What I would love to have would be krampus. He would be a great addition to the look of it all. So hopefully this coming Xmas they offer up a lot of past in obtained characters.
This event was super long and fun but glad it’s done.
I wish I snagged that past bundle of the floating ghost ship it would have been a nice addition as well.
I like the castle I was trying to figure out if the wise guy could do his 12hrs task in it. He’s done Suzannes house and it’s cute with its sparkles and all but Thats about it. The best animation is that bad nightmare house or whatever it’s called… it looks like a massive house party that I’d love to join. 😁

Your castle works really well with the fires burning at the entrance. I think they are the best decoration from this event
I like it. I am trying to find the perfect spot for it. This Halloween Event has left me scratching my head for some items, in terms of placing.
Definitely having some placing issues, some of these items are XXXXXXXL.
For me, it was another thing that had to go up against the mountain range.
Looks really good with the castle walls around it.

Off topic (sort of) – but I just opened my app and the new car from the mini-quest has DISAPPEARED. I was in the middle of the last task (Make Grampa ogle it…or whatever it was) and now he’s just walking around and there is no car in sight, nor is it in my inventory. Anyone else have this problem?
I like the look of it and the dark clouds and lightning look good. Will go well in my Halloween area. Unlocked the final prize yesterday so now bonuts for the rest of the event which is nice.
Will there be a post what to get with our Obols?
I got everything I wanted and now I’m just collecting them. I’d like to use them for XP.

If you’re looking for the best long-term benefit, I’d personally recommend farming XP and in-game cash from the Spooky House and Spooky Cabin. Which ones you favor depends in part on how often you pop open the game each day. If you’re comfortable playing at least once every four hours, (like with this event) then you’ll probably get more value out of the House than the Cabin. (I have some of each, myself… but my farming is mostly based on Purple houses at present, anyway.)
Same here, sitting on 2,000 of them (and counting). More stuff to put in inventory which will hopefully be put to use on a rainy day.
I will probably buy bramble hedges, spooky brambles, and iron and gargoyle walls – got lots of the other stuff free last Halloween!
Same here. Shipwreck doesn’t fit with my other ocean deco”s but can’t have too much fencing and hedges for upcoming landscaping

Does anyone have an opinion on the shipwreck they would like to share? I’m holding 1,000 obols in reserve just in case it is worth it or a pass (odd size, where it goes, etc.)

It’s cool for what it is…and there isn’t any great use for ovals anyway…
It looks cool, but it goes in the sea and I rarely notice that side of the game. Still glad I got it as I don’t know what to spend the rest of my obols on
The shipwreck looks cool and helps increase mag points but it doesn’t do anything. I didn’t realise (thought it was the hovering ship I see in other towns ) it has to be placed in the water too – so not in the same area as my other Halloween items. Hope that info helps you decide to craft or not to craft.
Compared to the what you’d generate out of 33 Spooky Houses, it seems kinda useless as a Vanity-only decoration. However it is “unique” (can only craft one)… and it is items like this that often get reoffered in later events for donuts and get an XP Bonus added on in the future.
I haven’t really tried it in many areas/combos in the water, but my first thought was… its way too big. Try to find it in one of your neighbor’s towns (or a few), then you’ll probably have a better idea if you’d like it or not 😊
Is there a xp payout from placing Spooky Houses? Trying to see if I can use them for xp farming. I understand they pay xp every 3 hours.
Just wish the castle were a little bit larger.
