Winter 2016 Prize Guide: Act 1, Prize 7 The Parson

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The snow is falling in Springfield, which can only mean Winter has arrived in our pocket-sized towns!  And is in full swing on our devices.

In a change of pace, this Event is broken up into just 2 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the First Act you’re tasked with collecting Antlers (ico_cur_xmas2016_antlers_lg) to unlock each prize!

The seventh, and final, Act 1 Prize awarded at 68,350 ico_cur_xmas2016_antlers_lg is The Parson, because it’s about time someone other than Flanders told Rev. Lovejoy what to do…

So let’s take a closer look at this seventh prize and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield…

Once you’ve collected 68,350 ico_cur_xmas2016_antlers_lg you’ll automatically be awarded The Parson and you’ll see this message popup:

And you’ll have the option to store him in your inventory or place him immediately in your Springfield.  Remember if you store him you’ll have to go into your inventory later to retrieve him.

Once you’ve placed the Parson in your Springfield you’ll see his unlock message appear…

  1. I didn’t manage to earn the Parson before the act ended — is he worth the 50 donuts he’d cost me now?

  2. He seems drawn to my tiny rectangle of dirt road when he rides the golf cart. Kind of annoying.

    • This is quite logica. It uses the same subroutine as the Street Cleaner.

      • Don’t have the street cleaner, but that’s a dumb subroutine if it goes exclusively for dirt roads. I have a golf course and country club in my town, and instead the golf cart is in my old west desert all the time.

  3. Got my Parson
    Got my Bonuts
Wondering if Parson belongs with Churchy Joe’s
(Don’t forget everyone’s favorite motorcycle riding clergyman) 😉

  4. I had to laugh at the Saskatoon references The Parson makes. It shows that there are a few Canadian writers on the Simpsons staff. Plus, living in Saskatoon, I got a big kick out of it!
My favourite line is the episode when Grampa Simpsons and others go to Winnipeg to get cheap prescription drugs and Johnny Canuk says “we got pills that make Regina look like Saskatoon!”
That’s true, cause Saskatoon is a beautiful city!

  5. Huh…so, was the final prize for making sacrifices impossible to get? It’s at day 13, but we only had 12 days, including the first one. Timer runs out tomorrow, before 13 is available. Did I do my math wrong?

  6. I am missing Father Sean 🙁

  7. I love that his 24-hr task is visual and is awesome. EA is killing me though. The greatest thing to come to the game was the unemployment office’s ability to assign jobs en masse, but the number of characters requiring other characters for certain job lengths is just growing and growing. You’re killing me, Smalls! Also, not every character has ever job length — looking at you, Gummy Joe! And I really need a UFO to unlock Kang or Kodos’ 24-hr job!

  8. I love the Parson’s golf cart task, but bummed that it’s a 24-hour task, since I never use those once the initial questline is done. 🙁

  9. I was suprised that I finished this and early yet AND got my first set of bonuts as I’ve not really played as much as I thought I would.

  10. Very hilarious animations, I am fully satisfied by the prize!

  11. will the mistletoe and statues be used in the next act? Or should I burn through them all and make donuts?

  12. I just got him and now working on getting donuts now. Thanks EA for increasing the antlers from pagans and thanks TSTOAddicts for all the info and help you provide. 😃🍩😃

  13. I’d like to echo the comments about not overshooting the antler target when chasing bonuts. Make sure you know how many you need when you start exchanging catnip and carvings and get the maths right – more than 5100 won’t be counted towards a new set of bonuts while exchanging. I made that mistake once and while it hopefully won’t leave me hungry for sprinkles, I’d hate to see anyone else miss out!

  14. Should we be pursuing bonuts or stockpiling catnip and figurines for Act 2?

    • If you never have trouble getting all of the act prizes, i would say go for the bonuts. That’s what I’m doing. But if you struggle getting everything, might want to stockpile resources

      • There is no reason to stockpile antlers….they go away at the end of the act, and are the only thing that matters on the main Prize track. So…BONUTS!
The Crafting stuff stays in tact. No changes…for the most part.

        • Stockpiling catnip and figurines (the question asked) is different than stockpiling antlers (the answer given). In the past, when there have been progressive locations opening up (like in the casino event, where the different locations opened up for different types of gambling), the previous locations’ currency (in this case, catnip and figurines), were still useful. I know antlers are definitely going away, but I’m not convinced that catnip and figurines will be (although maybe I should be, since I think Alissa said it looked that way in the files). But, regardless, and probably foolishly, I’m gambling some catnip and figurines that they’ll still be useful in Act 2 for getting whatever the antler-replacing currency is.

I’m still cashing in four big boxes a day to get a round of bonuts, but I’m forgoing doing more than that to earn more bonut rounds, in the off-chance that the catnip and figurines *will* be useful in Act 2 after all. But, since I feel like I’ve been sufficiently warned here that they probably won’t be, I promise I won’t complain about any missed bonut opportunities as a result of my choice of strategy! 😉

          • ThatOneWeirdTapper

I think catnip and figurines will stay, as if you click on the event tab and the magnifying glass, there is the library and I think moes tavern. So I think they will stay, as well as new being brought in. Think of the monorail with the plastic metal and paper. Hope this helps! 🙂

            • That’s what I’m betting on…the only thing that made me doubt it at all was that Alissa said she didn’t think the next act would use catnip and figurines and to spend them up towards bonut antlers, and I hate getting against the “house.” So, as I said, I’m kinda doing a hybrid strategy.

          • My money would be on that they will be used in act 2, it looks exactly the same as the casino event like you said, the two new resources-earning buildings will let different characters produce two new types of resources, but I’m pretty sure the shack and farm will still be producing statues and catnip and all 4 resources will be used to be handed in and exchanged for the new currency. EA loves sticking to a formula for events after all! That’s if I remember the casino event correctly of course…

  15. Just got him, waiting for Lovejoy to finish his current task. I’m glad it wasn’t too hard getting him.

  16. H

  17. I wish he had another 8 hour task in addition to the one with Rev Lovejoy. So when I send all my characters on 8 hour jobs he will be odd man out along with Sophie.

    • There are always a couple characters that I send on tasks before going to the employment office, so I can choose a better job. (Don’t like Boobarella or Jimbo’s 12 hr tasks) Maybe you can do that with the Parson, before Rev is automatically assigned another task. It’s a pain, I know, but an option.

  18. I’m going to either unlock him with minutes to spare or just miss out. It’s worrying times in my game, I hope act two doesn’t go the same way!

  19. Got him. He is very cool dude.. ready for act 2 … jingle bells. To all.

  20. He’s got some charming, funny lines when tapped. And there’s quite a few of them!

  21. I’m going to try to find time to call EA today about the Day 13 offering bonus. Doesn’t appear that it will unlock before the bonus prizes switch.

  22. I love the Bing Crosby voice…makes me wish Barney was a take off on Dean Martin, then they could croon together.

  23. Nothing wrong with this

  24. Love the golf cart animation! More of that purr lEAse 😀

  25. When gathring donuts with the antlers, don’t rush it with BIG packages of them. You’ll loose a lot of the antlers when reaching 5100. Nudge to that number by tapping pagans.

    • Excellent advice. I’m concerned about this act ending on a Sunday. I don’t recall the change in acts ever happening on a weekend. I’ve seen the work EA does on a normal weekday business day. Will someone be there to hit the button? What bugs and glitches await us? Concerned was the wrong word, I’m excited to see the carnage.

    • I have been collecting doughnuts every day I get three but I have only tapped the small package to get the prize but was wondering if the antlers were going to still be used on act two as I have over two thousand of the stautue and the other thing you get from the farm I don’t want two lose all them when act two starts any know if they stay around for act two thank you for your time and happy holidays to everyone I hope you enjoy them with your loved ones

    • Aren’t you smart…thanks for the tip.

  26. Have unlocked him yesterday, so I am not far along with the questline yet. His tasks are still mostly locked. I reserve judgement till later.
This morning I completed the first round of bonuts, and the prize-window appeared twice, so I got 2 x 3 Donuts. After that, the Bonut-task disappeared, though. Punishment for getting the bonuts twice, no doubt… 😉

    • Tap on the wreath now, instead of antlers, and you can continue to collect bonuts. There is no cap on how many bonuts you can get…you can keep going until act 1 ends.

  27. Seems the pagan hay cart is the same as the Halloween one… lol
