Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So last week we asked you guys to participate in a fun little survey where we would vote to rank the top 14 Simpsons Christmas Episodes. And the results are in!

Not only have I gathered your favorite Christmas episode rankings, but I also checked in with Patric, Bunny and Wookiee to see where they ranked the episodes.  Let’s take a look…

Wookiee’s Rankings:

So… my #1 and #14 were easy to place with the others competing back and forth. “Kill Gil” and “Skinner’s Sense of Snow” and “She of Little Faith” don’t feel like Christmas episodes to me so I had to place them according to how much they felt like Christmas episodes. The three-parters fell lower just because of their very nature. I like them but I like more heart in my Christmas episodes than jokes. A lot of the middle ones could move around depending on my mood. I really want to add “Mr. Plow” (S4:E9) to this list and put it as #2 but that’s just me. Picking favorites is like ranking my kids… they all have their merits. I’m curious if I’ll feel the same way in a month or after seeing everyone debate all these.

14. Kill Gil, Volumes 1 & II (S18:E9) – blah, meh, ugh… this is not a Christmas episode and I don’t like it on the list when Mr. Plow isn’t. I substitute either that, “Homer vs. Dignity” (S12:E5) or “Dude, Where’s My Ranch” (S14:E18) which are all better episodes and include Christmasy elements and would be ranked much higher. End rant.
13. White Christmas Blues (S25:E8) – meh… almost last place if not for the Gil episode but it is certainly about Christmas.
12. Simpsons Christmas Stories (S17:E9) – close runner-up to #11 if not for the last segment
11. The Fight Before Christmas (22:E8) – my favorite of the three-parters for it’s sheer weirdness & Katy Perry
10. The Nightmare After Krustmas (S28:E10) – not a bad episode if you love Krusty & Lovejoy & pagans
9. Skinners Sense of Snow (S12:E8) – I don’t know why this is on a Christmas list but it makes me laugh
8. She of Little Faith (S13:E6) – Lisa becomes a Buddhist… good episode but Christmas should not be a bribe
7.The Grift of the Magi (S11:E9) – Funzos… good on TV but not so much in TSTO (AND Gary Coleman!)
6. I Won’t Be Home for Christmas (S26:E9) – so much heart it had to be high plus the Cosmic Wars Holiday Special
5. Tis the Fifteenth Season (15:E7) – an astrolabe and Santa/Grinch Homer… classic
4. Miracle on Evergreen Terrace (S9:E10) – bye bye tree, hello hilarity
3. Marge Be Not Proud (S7:E11) – Bart and Marge’s relationship makes this a standout
2. Holidays of Future Passed (S23:E9) – in the future, there’s still heart… and ro-butts
1. Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire (S1:E1) – duh

So there’s my list. Debate away friends and Happy Life Day from the resident fuzzball. TTFN… Wookiee out!

Alissa’s Rankings:

So I’m going to be different and go with a different number 1 episode.  Although Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire is a classic, for me Marge Be Not Proud tugs at my heart strings. As a mom I can totally understand the mother/child relationship and this episode stands out to me.  Beyond that y’all know I love my Future episodes, and as I mentioned during Addicts Live, I love seeing Gil in Episodes (despite Wook and Pat’s hatred)..

14. She of Little Faith
13. The Nightmare After Krustmas
12. I Won’t Be Home For Christmas
11. Tis’ the Fifteenth Season
10. White Christmas Blues
9. Grift of the Magi
8. Fight Before Christmas
7. Skinner’s Sense of Snow
6. Simpsons Christmas Stories
5. Miracle on Evergreen Terrace
4. Kill Gil, Volumes I & II (Grumply Grumply)
3. Holidays of Future Passed
2. Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire
1. Marge Be Not Proud

And there you have it Tappers…the Addicts guide to the best Simpsons Christmas episodes!  So curl up this holiday weekend with a nice comfy blanket and your favorite yellow family!

  1. Many of the Christmas episodes give you the feels. That is one thing I love about this show. No matter how silly it gets, there are times when you find yourself wiping away a tear, whether it be a sad one or a happy/beautiful one.

  2. Simpsons roasting on an open fire isnt just the best Christmas episodes ever but one of the best episodes of the whole show . Up there with Bart gets an F an deep space homer for my top three

  3. Well crapiddy doo. Last year I got Ice Princess Martin for free, much like many other people, and didn’t get the Ice Palace because I’m not going to waste my donuts on that. This year, it started up Ice Princess Martin’s questline, and it thinks I bought the Ice Palace. However, as I previously stated, I did not. Now I’m stuck with a questline that will remain unfulfilled, and I can’t have that! Alissa, what should I?

  4. What I found most interesting about this was how much more Alissa’s rankings were similar to the overall results than any of the other moderators’ rankings were.

  5. All in all not a particularly great group of episodes. I’m surprised that Tis the Fifteenth Season is ranked so low.

  6. Hmmmm…somehow “nightmare after krustmas” rated near the bottom for each of you? LOL

I ALSO didn’t care for the episode much, but you could DEFINITELY see the tie-in with the winter event! Made me wonder… did the event write the episode, or did the episode write the event?
