Lemon of Troy (Shelbyville) and The Founders Item Breakdown

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well happy 2017 everyone!  Hope everyone has had an enjoyable start to the New Year and a close to 2016.  Personally, I’ve been enjoying the downtime in the game and at work.  We’ve been doing a ton of family stuff the last week and spending loads of time with the Tiny Addict.  She’s growing up so fast!

Anyway, it’s time to get “back in the saddle” here at Addicts HQ.  So while we gear up for the Homer the Heretic mini event to hit our games tomorrow (Jan 3rd), I thought I’d take the time now (before we get to busy with the new content) to breakdown the details of the “Cash only” Lemon of Troy items and Founders Character Collection.

We broke down the details of how to unlock these items here, so this is more a breakdown of what each item does, what it has to offer and any questlines associated with it.  Kind of like a Should I Buy…without the opinions.  So let’s breakdown these “cash only” items, shall we?

jebediahspringfield_menu shelbyvillemanhatten_menu car_impound_lot neds_winne_bago tsto_shelbyville_statue

Before I get into everything, I figured I should offer the full disclosure that I own each item at this point.  If you’re going to spend money on donuts it’s nice to get a little bonus with it.  BUT I’m not going to offer my opinion about what you should/shouldn’t buy.  This involves spending actual cash…and it’s going to depend on what you’re comfortable doing in that regard.  So instead, I’ll just breakdown each item and let y’all decide what you like/don’t like.

Another note, I am posting the dialogue in this post for the decorations/items.  However, I won’t post the dialogue for the characters here.  I’ll post the Turbo Tappin’ in this post..full dialogue will be in another post. So just a heads up…

So we’ll start with the items/decorations first and then work our way to the characters.

I’ll start with the most expensive item…the Shelbyville Manhattan Statue.

tsto_shelbyville_statue

So you’ll earn the statue when you purchase a boatload of 2,400 donuts.  In the US this costs $99.99, the price will vary in other countries depending on the taxes and tariffs for your country.  EA only collects the $99.99 USD, anything over that goes to Apple/Google.

Anywho…here are the statue details:

Size: 6×5
Bonus %: Earns 10% on all cash and XP (yes, 10%)
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +200

Now, the statue is just a statue.  There’s no animation, or jobs, associated with it.  It’s just a statue…like the statue of Jeb you can get if you tap Homer 10 times. But it does have a little dialogue that’ll appear if you’ve purchased Shelbyville Manhattan as well.  Here’s what will popup:

Statue of Liberties
Shelbyville Manhattan starts

Shelbyville: Look at this magnificent statue of me. Such attention to detail.
Marge: They really captured your pioneering spirit!
Shelbyville: Yes, not to mention my pervy smile and leering eyes. And every last curve of my beautiful, voluptuous cousins.
Marge: I’m sorry, did you say “cousins”?
Shelbyville: Yes. My relatives, kin, almost-sisters. You know, the people you marry.
Marge: I’m sorry, Mr. Manhattan, but these days that sort of behavior is looked down upon. And is illegal.
Cletus: Don’t worry, feller, not everyone in this town is against your ideas. My family welcomes ya with open arms!
Shelbyville: That’s exactly how I used to welcome my cousins!

Next up I’ll breakdown the Car Impound Lot…

car_impound_lot

So you’ll earn the lot when you purchase a store full of 900 donuts.  In the US this costs $49.99, the price will vary in other countries depending on the taxes and tariffs for your country.  EA only collects the $49.99 USD, anything over that goes to Apple/Google.

Anywho…here are the lot details:

Size: 14×12
Earns: $200, 22xp/8hrs
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Obedience +10

The Impound Lot does come with a questline, and tasks.  However, once the questline is complete it doesn’t look like there are any tasks at the Impound Lot. Here’s the questline:

That’s A Lot Pt.1
Marge starts

Marge: Get dressed, Homie, we’re having a date night!
Homer: I don’t know, our last “date night” was just a trick to get me to that AA meeting…
Marge: The Car Impound Lot is re-opening as a nightclub. It’s called The ‘Pound! With an apostrophe even! Now THAT’S hip!
Squeaky Voiced Teen: Welcome to The ‘Pound, may I valet your car?
Make Springfielders Attend the Grand Opening- x10. 8hrs, Earns $275, 70xp Freemium and $420, 105xp Premium

That’s A Lot Pt. 2
Marge starts

Marge: What a cool nightclub. You could tell it was fancy because the bathroom attendants acted REALLY entitled to a tip.
Homer: Can you pull around the pink sedan, my good man?
Squeaky Voiced Teen: Sure. That’ll be $250.
Homer: $250?! How is that possible?
Squeaky Voiced Teen: It’s still a Car Impound Lot too.
Make Homer Look Under the Car Seats For Loose Change- 4hrs, $260, 70xp

And now onto Ned’s Winnebago…

neds_winne_bago

So you’ll earn the Winnebago when you purchase a tray of 132 donuts.  In the US this costs $9.99, the price will vary in other countries depending on the taxes and tariffs for your country.  EA only collects the $9.99 USD, anything over that goes to Apple/Google.

Anywho…here are the winnebago details:

Size: 6×3
Bonus %: Earns 2% on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter Impact:
Vanity +200

So this is another one of those this item is just an item deals.  The Winnebago, is just a decoration.  There’s no animation, or jobs, associated with it.  But it does have a little dialogue that’ll appear when purchased.  Here’s what will popup:

When Life Gives You Lemons
Ned starts

Ned: Hey Homer, what do you say we scamper to my newly-repaired camper? Sip some tea in my fixed RV! Get behind the wheelicle of my recreational vehicle!
Homer: Dammit, Flanders! Rhymes aren’t jokes!
Ned: Neither is going “Mmm” and drooling whenever you hear the name of a food.
Homer: Well played.  Oh, by the way, I might’ve accidentally strapped another lemon tree to your camper and crushed the roof…
Ned: What?! You made fini of Mini-Wini!
Homer: Mmm, mini-weenies. *drools*

Now it’s time to move onto the characters.  Again, I’ll just be posting the Turbo Tappin’ questline for each here.  Full dialogue will come along in another post…

I’ll start with Mr. Manhattan…

unlock_shelbyvillemanhatten

And that my friends completes the details of the “cash only” Lemon of Troy and Founders Collection items.

What are your thoughts on the items?  Have you picked any up?  Are you planning on picking any up? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. My wife got Shelbyville Manhattan this morning but his 1st quest is locked out (even with Lisa free from other quests). Anyone having this same issue?

  2. I think that’s a great idea to get goodies for buying donuts 🙂 I hope EA will change the items after a certain amount of time to get a little bit variety for buying donuts 🙂

  3. Although it means that I will probably never get these items (unless I win the lotto), I am glad that those who spend real cash (cash, rewards points, etc) on this game are getting some reward for doing so.
    👍👍👍

  4. “EA only collects the $99.99 USD, anything over that goes to Apple/Google”

Doesn’t EA collect just 70% of that $100 with the balance going towards Google? (I’m not sure if Apple takes the same cut.)

    EA doesn’t make $99.99 on a $99.99 in-app purchase.

    • Ok if you want to get technical. I’m mostly indicating that for those who are complaining their app store prices increased and yelling about it. My point is that EA has the set price of 99.99.

  5. I bought Shelbyville, and with the donuts I bought the snow monster, got lots of extra bonus bucks, ended up with enough to get three of the 4 platinum prizes (Costingtons, Krusty’s daughter, and the bear cave), and spent 45 donuts on the last one just now (North Pole Station- which was the one I wanted). Didn’t get any of the silver or gold boxes, as they only had stuff I didn’t want, except for the skating rink (darn). Might end up buying more donuts in the future to get Jeb or the Winnie, but right now I’m pretty tapped out. Harharhar.

  6. Actually, it would be almost foolish (if you’re willing to pay premium at all) not to get Shelbyville Manhattan, now that I think of it. There aren’t a lot of full characters that you can get for 60 donuts, and in this case, you’d be getting a full premium character AND 60 donuts for the same $5!

Think I’ll go off and get him right now! 🙂

  7. well thank you Alissa for saving me $25. There’s no way i’m spending that kinda money on two characters that aren’t even voiced.

  8. Prediction: I await the outcry from premium players when these items become available to buy with donuts or as prizes in a year or so.

    • Counter-prediction: in a year, that ugly statue is still going to be sitting in my donut store next to the boatload that I’ve never bought.

  9. Please make them available for donuts!

  10. I’m glad I waited until January to refill my donuts. I usually do that at the beginning of December (except this time, the July donuts lasted until now). So… I guess I have a statue now. Yay… Bah (humbug), since the donuts interested me more, it’s still nice.

  11. Got Jeb and Shelbyville. Happy with them so far. Not overly expensive Plus the donuts I bought will help get me the good stuff from the next event. Win-win.

But like other said, Springfield vs. Shelbyville woulda made a great event

  12. I got the founders the other day. Shame they are not voiced but I was thinking of getting donuts before this happened, so I’m glad to pick them up!

  13. I’m mostly freemium but like the idea of extras just for donut purchases. They should add a choice of rewards once the initial one is purchased to get repeat purchases.

  14. I love the idea of rewarding premium players BUT this update annoyed me, not much of the costing money, but because Shelbyvile would have been better as an event with a whole lot of items but because they are giving them away as bonus content they CAN’T do that now because they are the main items 😢.
Thanks for the info Alissa, very helpful!

    • I wouldn’t make this assumption…they could definitely still do a Shelbyville event. First, they could offer to sell these characters at a future date. Second, those characters are from *historic* Shelbyville…the could still add the modern Shelbyville into the game!

      • But the items for money are permanent and would have been the main items for the event. They can’t just rerelease them for free (prizes, crafting etc) because the people that spent money on them would go mental. Does that make sense?
I would LOVE a Shelbyvile event so please prove me wrong but I don’t see how they could get around the main items being for sale

        • I guess I don’t look at it as people having spent money for them….they spent money to get donuts, as usual, and got those items as a free bonus. And, besides, as I said, the Shelbyville event could be about present-day Shelbyville, instead of historic Shelbyville, which is what the characters relate to.

  15. I might get Jeb at some point, if I can justify it to myself 🙂 I did get the SUV and the cheapest character. The other packages I don’t want to even think about: I tend to feel bad enough about spending real money on virtual things already….

  16. Does the lemon tree end up in your town (planted) or is it a permanent part of the RV?

  17. I got to thinking and something I’d like to see in the game is maybe a job (one single job) for all characters in the game outside. Like my idea was maybe for the Simpsons birthday anniversary habe everyone in town outside partying. It would just be nice to see a visual task outside with all characters since i have them all. Only other time you see them all is if you have none of them on jobs.

    • It takes a while, but you can choose a visual task for each character. I know it isn’t feasible on a daily basis, but I decided to try it today…all my characters are outside doing tasks. The tasks vary from an hour to 24 hours, and at the end of the day, I will probably go back to “the usual” 4h and 12 hr tasks…but it is fun to see everybody out and about for a short time.

    • At least the option of choosing all outdoor tasks at the unemployment office would be nice. Hey EA, are ya listenin’?

      • Yes, THIS!!

A simple toggle at the Office would be fantastic, to switch between Visual, Indoor, or All!

      • Isn’t the option in the game files? Meaning EA thought about that but dropped it at the last minute. Maybe it was glitchy or asked for too much processing power to manage all these people for differently timed outdoor tasks.

      • For towns with a lot of characters, having them all doing outdoor tasks can be taxing on the devices…even if yours can handle it fine, it might cause a neighbor’s game to crash when they visit your town. I doubt EA will ever offer that option, for that reason, but I agree with you that it could be fun to get to see, as long as you’re device can handle it!

  18. I purchased Jeb and everything cheaper. I hope it ties in with upcoming events, but I thought they were all great deals. Love the lemon tree on the roof!

  19. they didn’t tie any job to the car impound lot cause well it’s not linked to SM or JS

  20. We now have three levels of game currency fake $ donuts and real $. A virtual statue on a server that I have no control of for $100 real dollars is a very bad deal as far as I’m concerned.

    • Real $ has always been an option. Nothing whatsoever has changed.

    • But you have to factor in the donuts you’re getting for that $100 as well…it’s not like you’re paying $100 and just getting a statue. In fact, the statue is essentially free, since you’re still getting the normal number of donuts you’d always get for $100.

  21. So far I’ve purchased jeb. I plan to purchase shelbyville today or tomorrow when I redeem my last gift card. I will also be purchasing an additional $20 tray with the remainder of the gift card money. I don’t really care if I ever get the decorations but the characters are a must. It is nice to get something for spending cash that I was planning to allocate for the game anyway.

  22. I picked up Jebediah and will probably get Shelbyville. I think EA missed an opportunity by not really connecting all of the items. Now if buying all items (maybe a lower price point) unlocked an event, then that might have made some people think differently about this approach.
