Where Did THAT Come From – Ned’s Camper, Car Impound Lot, and Shelbyville Manhattan Statue

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

So the holidays and the ensuing mini-event have come and gone. During all the hullabaloo, EA also added a new way to get items for the game. While I’ll admit I initially was hot pissed about having to spend 184.95 dollars American, I then realized these are truly just bonuses if you decide to spend money on the game which we all enjoy. I know everyone can’t afford all the items, especially the super expensive one but that doesn’t mean we can’t at least show off the origins for Ned’s Camper, the Car Impound Lot, and the Shelbyville Manhattan Statue. We already got the Lemon Tree from this classic episode so it’s really up to you if you want other stuff. With any new items comes the opportunity for me to revisit an episode I love and show ya just where the items come from. Let’s head off into the TV series to see just what I’m talking about.

“Lemon of Troy” (S6:E24)

So this episode all revolves around Bart finding pride in his town. The children of Springfield learn from Grampa all about the disagreements between the founders of their town and Shelbyville about the right to marry cousins. The Springfield Lemon Tree was planted on the day Jebediah Springfield and Shelbyville Manhattan split. It’s at the Lemon Tree that Bart meets his Shelbyville doppelganger.

Problem is that lemons are the backbone of the kid’s economy in both towns as they follow the age-old quest to make lemonade and entice sucker passers-by to buy the bitter concoction. When the lemon tree is found to be missing with tracks leading into Springfield’s rival town, something must be done.

Bart and a gang of Springfield kids head to Shelbyville to find their tree. There’s lots of stuff to be discovered in Shelbyville like yellow fire hydrants and Fudd Beer but the thing that makes me laugh the most is Shelbyville’s statue of their founder. This is a town that really believes in marrying cousins. Makes sense since LuAnn Van Houten is from there.

Anyhoo… after Marge finds out about Bart’s violence gang, she gathers all the parents of the Springfield kids who make a plan to go rescue them before anything bad happens. They head off in Ned’s Camper.

It all turns out that Bart’s Shelbyville counterpart led the mission to steal the Lemon Tree and it is now in his father’s car impound lot aka “the impenetrable fortress of suburbia.”

It doesn’t turn into the darkest day in the history of Springfield though. Courtesy of Bart knowing that the RV would be towed and impounded if they parked in a hospital zone…. they successfully infiltrate the lot and rescue the tree. That’s why there’s now a second one on top of the TSTO version of Ned’s camper. Eat my shorts Shelbyville! Enjoy your turnip juice.

So there you go friends. I’ll agree these items are expensive but at least they’re just bonuses if you choose to buy donuts ( Impound Lot $49.99 and Shelbyville Manhattan Statue 99.99). Ned’s Camper is a nice price at $9.99 though and adds a new vehicle if you’re okay with having two lemon trees in town. As a bonus… it’s pretty safe to say your neighbors spent actual money if you see any of these when visiting. I own everything since I feel that’s my duty as a blogger but can say your life will be okay without them, especially the cousin lover statue.
