Should I Spend Donuts on the Passport?

title is fixed.  I really gotta stop writing posts when I’m half asleep

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Insert collective groan from my favorite peanut gallery members here….because it’s time break down the pros and cons of the Around the World Passport.

Many of you who have been around for a while, already know what I’m going to say.  But there are many Addicts out there that are just starting out, and may be pondering if the Passport is right for them.  So, it’s my duty to inform them of the pros and cons of the booklet…and to you know steer them in the right direction. 🙂

Wondering if the Passport is right for you?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of going around the world with this book!

ico_stor_aroundtheworld_passport

Item: Passport
Donut Price: 90 Donuts (Act 1, it is expected to drop in price for Acts 2 and 3)
What Does it Do?: So, basically this passport helps you earn MORE game currency when tapping buildings in your neighbor’s town.  Without the membership you’ll earn 5 ico_cur_aroundtheworld_francepin_lg per building tapped in a neighbor’s town (for Act 1, it’ll change for each Act), with it you’ll earn 10 ico_cur_aroundtheworld_francepin_lg per building tapped (in a neighbor’s town).

You do not earn crafting currency from tapping neighbor’s buildings….so this won’t help with crafting currency.

This does NOT impact the amount you earn when tapping in your own town.

Pro
-Earns double game currency when tapping buildings in your neighbors towns.

Cons
-EXPENSIVE…
-Not an actual item so once the event is over, it’s gone.
-Doesn’t help with crafting currency

Final Thought:
Premium or Freemium..
Pass.  Completely pass on this.  You should have no issues earning event currency from regular tapping and sending your Springfielders on flights regularly..it’s just not worth those donuts for any player.  Not with this event.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do, and this is something i’m completely passing on. (and that’s always my recommendation)

Whatever you decide, just remember this is one item for the event that’s better the earlier you purchase it.  So if you’re on the fence, I’d say try to make your final decision by this weekend…this way you can get the most benefit over the rest of the event!

And that’s it my friends…the full rundown and pros and cons of the Around the World Passport!

See peanut gallery, was that so bad? 😉

What do you think of the Passport?  Are you still thinking about purchasing it or wanting to see how the event pans out the next couple of days before you make a decision?   Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. now is at 30 donuts

  2. I accidentally purchased this ridiculous item 30 seconds ago. I was trying to scroll the page. Sometimes, I HATE THIS GAME.

    • go to the options (shop – top right clog icon) and enable donut purchase confirm option

      • The sad thing is that the game froze on me while in the “Destination Springfield” section of the store. I tried to scroll through it and it apparently made the purchase.

I’ve contacted EA. The first rep was pretty nice about it. However, I was told that I needed to wait 24 hours for resolution. I logged back into the help section only to find that the issue was listed as “resolved” (when it isn’t). I “resumed” the case and received a callback.

This most recent rep put me on hold (while ignoring the actual “freeze” issue) and simply offered a “goodwill gesture of 20 donuts” (which I don’t care about).

I told him that I don’t need the 20 donuts. Instead, I wanted to make sure that the issue doesn’t happen again. So, he put me on hold again. He came back telling me that he would transfer me to the technical support department — but the line was disconnected.

This sort of “service” is what makes me frustrated with the game. I have a high end smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge) and tablet (Nexus 9). This game shouldn’t freeze like this — especially to the point where it unfreezes a few moments later and informs you that you made an unintended purchase.

I don’t know what is more frustrating — the EA rep who just told me that the mistake was on my end, the underlying issue being ignored or getting disconnected when transferred to tech support.

I’m the occasional premium player (meaning that I purchase donuts from time to time). When I encounter issues like this, it really makes me feel like I’ve wasted time and money on this game.

        Sorry for the rant.

I guess that I might try contacting them one last time. This is the only app that I use that causes “freezing” issues like this.

  3. There’s been a few passports in past events and costly, think 1 passport for all would be better at 100 donts

  4. I personally don’t purchase these as I see them as a waste of doeys, but to make them have some other value after events they could be shown on a screen to see your license/passbooks that you have purchased, like we get with the characters. Or if they do like repeat events ie Christmas, THOH, Superheroes you can reuse them then.

Just a thought, it may entice others to purchase them.

  5. I agree with terri I stop purchasing this item too awhile back on other events I always have time enough time to finish but if you’re on time limit like you can’t play every 4hrs then you need one

  6. I’m literally addicted to this game that I must have it all. I picked up the passport cause I have a bad tsto habit.

  7. I actually bought it this time…had the donuts left over from the winter event and decided to banish the stress for the event. The extra 450 pins a day means I can do 3 tapsets a day if I’m busy, and still make my pin quota…easy peasy. I don’t recommend it if you aren’t a bonut farmer…kind of expensive for what it is.
EA…if you priced this puppy at 30 donuts, lots more people would jump on board… just sayin…1000 people @ 30 donuts is a lot better result for you than 20 people @ 90 donuts. Considering that it has no value after the event, 30 is a fair price. Or maybe, once you buy the passport, it is good for all events for a year (a real passport only expires after 5 years, not after one trip). How about when the next event rolls around, those of us who already bought it get a free ride for that event. Better yet, make it a Gil’s deal of some sort…kinda like a bonus for airline miles…the more visits you make, the better the bonus…

    • Yeah I bought it too. This event has been giving such a measly payout there’s no way you can guarantee you’ll get every prize in time, so I wanted to maximize my chances. At least it sort of off-sets the 20 minute thing.

  8. Just an opinion… but personally, I feel that something along the lines of the following might be worth adding to the Final Thoughts section, in your future “license” SIBs:

Compared to the license, you will get a far better return-on-donuts by purchasing premium characters. Sometimes you’ll have an option to buy a unique premium character during the event, and they’re often worth it… but in addition to that, one or more of the existing premium characters are frequently randomly selected to payout additional event currency, such as Kumiko in the current event.

In addition, premium characters almost always add new questlines of their own upon purchase, they are sometimes used to enhance other questlines along the way, and they will continue to payout regular currency at a higher rate than regular characters for as long as you play. And of course, more regular currency means faster leveling up, which means more donuts to spend in the long run.

    To phrase it slightly differently……

Before you spend donuts in this item, contact me and I’ll write you a $1 million life insurance policy payable if you get hit by a falling meteorite.

  10. I don’t get, why by now EA doesn’t just offer an event currency multiplier for all event currency earned, similar to the XP collider. They keep limiting this pass for friendvisits, which is usually not where a lot of event currency is coming from anyway.

It could be like “earn 50% more event currency” for the duration of the event for X amount of donuts, doesn’t have to be cheap. This would help people, who cannot live in the 4 hour cycle due to work or life, so they have a chance to get all the prices with casual tapping.

    • “This would help people, who cannot live in the 4 hour cycle due to work or life.” ROFL! 😂

Oh wait a minute, you’re saying that I, a fulltime 4-hour tapper no matter if there’s an event or not, have no life! Or work! 😢 Sad to say you’re right on both fronts… Stop pointing out the emptiness of my existence… 😈 LOL!

  11. I stopped buying these a few events ago and haven’t regretted it at all. I finish events with several days to spare, too. Thank you, Alissa & Co. for all you do for us!
