Should I Spend Donuts On Pont Du Gard?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Pack your bags and prepare for an invasive screening at the airport because it’s travel time in Springfield! And while our towns are embracing their ever expanding airports, our donut bank is shrinking because there are LOADS of world items in our stores just tempting us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should Pont du Gard to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this French Aqua duct to your Springfield…

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
Unless you really love Aqua Ducts, pass on this one. Aside from looking nice it won’t do anything for you or your Springfield.  Pass.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you as a premium player, I’m passing.  Absolutely no benefit for to purchasing this one.  Just remember this is limited time, and will be leaving our stores next week.  Whatever you decide, So be sure to make your final decision before it’s gone from our games for good. (or for now..)

Here’s a look at the dialogue that pops up between Marge and Lisa:

Lisa: Mom, why are you scrubbing the aqueduct?
Marge: Drinking water flows through here.  Someone could get sick.
Lisa: It hasn’t been used for drinking water since the Romans built it two thousand years ago.
Marge: Lisa, please. Can’t I have a little fun on my vacation?

  1. I too, had absolutely no reason to purchase – but I did because someday I might wish I had it for a “perfect” spot in my Springfield. I rarely have event areas but mostly put items that seem to fit in here or there. I’ll do a Paris Las Springfield Heights with the buildings but my wine accessories will go in the Italian (think Godfather) compound I’m slowly building.

  2. Lol @ “Unless you really love Aqua Ducts” 😆

I do wish the in-game version was only 2-3 levels tall so it looked closer to the real thing. But, when I first saw it in my neighbor’s town, my gut reaction was “Whoaaaa!” (in a good way) so I was 90% sure I would buy it. Below is a screenshot of what I did with it so far. Hoping to add more lavender fields as the event progresses 🌸🌺🌾🌱🌿

    • I looks so cool!

I think this picture just made up my mind for me on whether or not to purchase. It looks fantastic. I was worried there’d be no way to integrate it with water but it does look like that can be sorted with trees (like so much in our Springfields).

  3. I really liked the look of this one, but without a % bonus it just isn’t worth it. A shame really.

  4. I love this but don’t know where to put it. I’m not designing anything till I see what’s to come. Not even trough with act 1 and no idea what to do with what I’ve gotten so far. I’m even thinking about waiting till event’s end and nuking even though I know I’ll really, really, really regret it.

  5. Also, the real Pint During Gard has 3 rows of arches, this one has 4.

  6. It’s “Aqueduct”.

  7. As a French, I’m very pleased by this part of the event and all of the new decorations to build a France arEA in Springfield !
Moreover, I’m coming from the countryside and I live about 1h far from the Pont du Gard, so I enjoyed seeing it released… and finally we had a bridge for our town ! 😀
BUT this is not the Pont du Gard we have in France : it is supposed to have only three rows of arks, to be waaaay larger and less tall, and its top has to be connected to the mountains he links…
Let’s add to this the fact it has no %bonus, so I’m really disappointed

  8. It looks cool and isnt that the reason we buy decorations in the first place….to make our towns look nice? Items always come back. When it does it will have some sort of bonus attached to it. Prize track characters usually become premium when offered again and decorations are similar. Ive even seen items get bonus XP after the event ends. I think the aquaduct is a good investment for both beautification and the predicted future XP bonus. If youre low on donuts i could see holding off….im sure there is other cool stuff on the way.

  9. Off topic, but has anyone else had trouble with the Norbert quest? I finished the 7 parts, now it says unlock and place the globe, but when I click on it, it brings me to the travel trivia section. Does this mean I have to finish another days worth of flights?

  10. I regret buying this tbh. It does nothing and it’s not even from France, I just saw the episode they pulled it from and it was the one where Sideshow Bob was a mayor in Italy.

    • The Pont du Gard IS in France, the southeast part, near Avignon. We had to buy this because the Spousal Unit and I visited it just a couple of months ago, in Oct 2016. We crawled all over the parts that are open. They have closed off the top now but about 20-30 years ago you could still walk across the top of it. A lady with us did it at that time. It was built in the 1st century AD and delivered 44 million gallons of water per day to Nimes. It is the tallest existing Roman Aqueduct and possibly the tallest ever built. We bought it for sentimental reasons. A great buy.

      • Based on Google images this isn’t what the real life Pont du Gard looks like.

In the episode The Italian Bob the Simpsons also drive on an exact replica of this item, right down to the color, which Lisa refers to as a Roman aqueduct in generic terms, so they just lifted it from that episode, renamed it and ascribed it as the French one.

      • Thanks so much for your great description! I didn’t realize what this was supposed to be at first. RS

    • Copy these coordinates into Google maps:
      43.947306,4.535100
This is the location of the ACTUAL Pont during Gard, which spans the Gardon River.

  11. I HAD to buy it. My family and I spent a few years living south of Madrid and about 30 minutes from an aquaduct in Segovia, Spain. One of my children still asks to go see the “octo duck.” So yes. I LOVE aqueducts! ❤

  12. Cut me deep. I was debating on whether to purchase up until yesterday. Picked it up and regretted it ever since. Life goes on…

  13. I have some buyers remorse after buying it, quite expensive, does not have a bonus % and is not even animated.

  14. Alex - aabcampos2

    No bonus ???

    Why ea ? Why?

  15. Anyone know if this was constructed during Claudius’ reign? Rings a bell. I took a course on ancient Rome in college, and seem to remember he made a lot of improvements to the city’s infrastructure in between Caligula’s debaucherous dynasty and Nero’s fiery regime… although at least Nero appreciated the arts. I hear he dabbled in music 😉

No real pros even if you’re premium. I don’t recall it even making a sound when clicked on in a neighbor’s town. But as a previous poster pointed out, it is beautiful and unique. However, I agree with Alissa that this is a clear pass.

  16. This is probably the first time I went ahead and spent donuts on a decoration that has zero percentage benefit. I just really liked it. I love that this event is giving us some beautiful additions to our towns.
