Should I Spend Donuts On the Himeji Castle?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Pack your bags and prepare for an invasive screening at the airport because it’s travel time in Springfield! And while our towns are embracing their ever expanding airports, our donut bank is shrinking because there are LOADS of world items in our stores just tempting us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should the Himeji Castle to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Ancient Japanese Castle to your Springfield…

Cons
-Massive Footprint

-No questline/dialogue with it

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
No way, no how.  I don’t care what kind of player you are, do not spend your donuts on this.  It’s INSANELY priced and way too big of a footprint for Springfield.  Unless you have an obsession with castles, completely and totally reject this one.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you as a premium player, I’m completely passing on this one.  Way to expensive, even for this premium player. Just remember this is limited time, and will be leaving our stores when Act 2 ends.  So be sure to make your final decision before it’s gone from our games for good. (or for now..)  Also remember that this is one of those items that will help with the event, so the earlier you get it the better.  So I’d try to make your final decision before the week is over, so that you’ll get the greatest return on it.

What are your thoughts on Himeji Castle?  Will you be picking it up or have you already?  Where have you placed it in your Springfield? Do you think EA kinda went a little crazy on the price for this one? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I love the mystery boxes, and was happy to get this for 50 donuts. Even though it’s Japanese, I had way more room in my China area, so I took a little artistic license and put it behind my Great Wall with my Chinese restaurant and other Chinese buildings. It fits in great. Very happy with my purchase, and busy farming for another go at the box.

  2. I got this today from a mystery box and i feel like i got a great steal! It wasnt Mr.Sparkle but im still ok with it because it costed only 50 donuts

  3. I was disappointed in the small size of the Shinto shrine, and I’d love to fill that space with this beauty. Unfortunately, it would cost a majority of my remaining donuts (even though I regularly farm the ‘Marts and I also just bought some donuts for the items, still running low.) I might cave, though. Design is so often what makes me cave.

  4. LOL I’m just a proud Japanese boy so when I saw Himeji castle I spent the doughnuts without hesitation. Its huge and out of place but that’s fine to me because if I was going to splurge I am glad I chose a castle that showcases my culture.

  5. I bought Himeji even though it was so big/expensive, but it make so much nicer an addition to my Japan area than a building that says “Tokyo.” With the castle and Fuji, the rest will fall into place with the craftables.

  6. I bought it, since it looked so cool, despite the massive disconnect in relative size with other TSTO properties. Then I realized some of the Japanese crafting items were also way too big (trees, tori, pagoda), so I moved all those items to the “west” side of the mountains, in their own area, so the size inconsistency wouldn’t be as glaring. Looks great. I like the idea of using the Great Wall around them, but again the relative size differences just bother me too much for that.

  7. I wouldn’t buy it myself, but one of my neighboreenos did, and he/she surrounded it with the Great Wall, and it looks absolutely fantastic. Incredible detail.

  8. It’s way overpriced, I agree. Still, I got it anyway. A couple of years ago, I made a trip to Japan, starting with Kyoto after landing at Nagoya. On the day I checked out and moved to Tokyo, I meant to make a stopover at Himeji castle first.

Unfortunately when I woke up in my dorm, I found my backpack stolen, and in it was my train pass, among other valuables. Luckily I kept my wallet, passport and cellphone/charger with me, so I was able to buy a bullet train ticket and make it to Tokyo that day, but needless to say, I had to cancel a lot of my plans, and because my camera was in the backpack as well, most of my photos from Kyoto were gone as well. Since I don’t know if I’d be able to make another trip over to Japan, I decided to just shell out for this as a little souvenir.

    • LOL (not at the getting robbed part but at your rationalisation for dropping that sweet sweet donut dough)! Best excuse ever to spend too much money on an overpriced item! 😂 I got it too, but I don’t have anything resembling as good a story as you. I just liked the looks of it, and I’m glad I got it…

  9. The Japanese stuff was all I really wanted in this event and I actually bought donuts to be sure to get all of it.

I freely admit it’s overpriced and at least should have come with a char and some more permanent character questlines, but I got it anyway ☺️

  10. Best 180 donuts I’ve spent

    • Ooops, had a premature ‘enter’ation on Valentine’s Day. Meant to say…

Best 180 donuts I’ve spent was on Greta and the Prep School, followed by Jessica and the Lovejoy residence. Would never spend 180 on a stand alone building.

  11. Instant buy for me. Even though it’s huge in size I really like the look of it and the fact that it earns event currency is major plus for me.

By the way does anyone know when the crafting post is going to be up?

  12. Totally agree, way overpriced. But I promised myself I’d get all the Japanese things for this event, and this castle really hurt my budget. And the Royal Tokyo is out there too. Sigh, running out of donuts fast. I am really happy with Mr Sparkle though. If you’re deciding what to spend donuts on, would recommend him first.

  13. This deal is a little insulting to me

  14. Holy cow, that thing’s gargantuan. The skyscraper they just released today is huge, too. It’d go perfectly with King Homer’s skyscraper, if I had it.

    • Josephine Kick@$$

I have the sky scraper, I like it, but there’s no benefit for it’s size, so it’s in storage 😐

  15. Way overpriced but love the design so I bought it.

  16. Saving the donuts. Looks like much better premium stuff coming in Act 3

  17. It’s stupidly overpriced…but I had to have it. Brings back a lot of memories of Japan

  18. Photo studios are promoting to go to Japan for wedding photos taking and this landmark is often featured in the marketing.

  19. Will there be an opportunity to purchase some of the missed items? The Great Wall, specifically.

  20. Love castles! Still, this was a sad but obvious no for me.

  21. I’ve seen it in some neighbours towns, it’s a really nice design. But as a sometimes premium player, i agree with Alissa, the price is too high, especially with no bonus%

  22. I also purchased this immediately. I visited Japan and was obsessed with this beautiful building. Perhaps I’m in the minority here, but I LOVE the look of this in my “Little Japan” area 🙂

  23. Got it without hesitation and no regrets! Sure, it’s big, but that’s one thing I love about it, and the fact that it’s really detailed. As an architect, I appreciate having this in my Springfield, along with all the other goodies we’re getting out of this spectacular event!
