Around the World 101: Crafting

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Ah the long awaited, Around the World Crafting post….where I give you the how tos and break down each and every item available to craft, so you don’t miss a thing!

Love it or hate it, EA has proven over the last couple of years that crafting is here to stay.  While the prizes themselves are pretty self explanatory, collect this to earn these prizes, crafting is a whole other “animal”.  Crafting requires some self direction.  You decide what you want and collect the items to craft accordingly.  Sometimes this is successful and sometimes it’s not. And, as with all things, for some events crafting is easier than others.

Now I know some of you still have questions about what to craft, if you should craft or Level Up, what happens in future Acts…so, as we’ve done in the past, we’re here to break it all down for you.  So let’s take a look at the basics of Crafting for the entire event.

2017-01-31-20-36-03

So I think EA has finally got a system down where crafting is pretty self explanatory.  So I’m not going to go into a long discourse about how to craft, what to do etc.  I’ll just give you a few basics…for clarity sake.

Crafting is triggered via the Rewards Center during the Act 1 questline…

Marge also has a task there to “Stock Town Maps” 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp

Tapping the Rewards Center will bring you to the crafting menu.  You can also access the crafting menu via the event hub menu by clicking the trophy icon and then the cash register icon…

The Crafting Currency is Sky Credits, they look like this:

ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg

You can earn Crafting Currency from:
-Tapping Tourists
-Completing Daily Challenges
-Clearing Taps from Neighbors in your town (also helps with Osaka Flu Level
-Norbert’s Daily Challenges, after day 8 for each Act

Crafting consists of different levels.  Each level unlocks more items to craft.  You spend crafting currency to level up. And once again they’ve decided to stick with what’s worked in the most recent events, you do NOT have to choose between Leveling up and Crafting.  The Sky Credits you spend to Craft items will count towards the Sky Credits needed to Level up!

What does this mean?  Well basically if it costs 500 ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg to move up to the next level, and you want to craft Wine Barrels (which cost 150ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg each)..you don’t have to decide between Leveling up and Crafting.  Simply craft the Wine Barrels and 150 ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg will be deducted from the 500 ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg required to Level Up.

Similarly…you DO NOT HAVE TO CRAFT ITEMS TO LEVEL UP. You can level up by simply tapping the green button next to the level up bar.  2017-01-31-21-35-33

It still takes Sky Credits, but it prevents you from crafting a bunch of stuff you may not want in order to level up.  As some of you have been complaining…

So the choice is yours, you can level up as you craft items.  Or you can just level up without crafting items.

And as with previous events, crafting ends when the event is over.  So you have all 3 acts to craft.  There’s no rush to get it done now.  Personally, i’ve been stock piling my crafting currency to do one big crafting push at one time.  There’s no benefit to crafting early and there’s no benefit to crafting later. It’s your preference.

And finally, there are 20 total crafting levels.  You’ll start at Level 1 so you’ll need to level up 19 times (to reach level 20), on order to unlock all of the craftable items.  Here’s the breakdown of how many Sky Credits are required to reach each level and unlock new items:

Level to Reach Sky Credit Required To Reach
2 500ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
3 1,000ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
4 1,000ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
5 750ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
6 1,000ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
7 2,000ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
8 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
9 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
10 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
11 2,000ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
12 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
13 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
14 2,000ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
15 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
16 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
17 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
18 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
19 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg
20 1,600ico_cur_aroundtheworld_skycredit_lg

So now that we’ve gone over those basics, let’s get to why most of you are reading this post…the breakdown of each craftable item.

Let me preface this by saying, for this event most of the craftable items are decorations.  Anything that earns an income is unique, so you’re limited to just one. Therefore, what to craft and how many is entirely up to you…as to what you think will work best in your Springfield.  There are some great decorations that can work in a variety of ways in Springfield, but it’s up to you to determine what works best for your town.

My Personal Opinion on Craftables…
Don’t kill yourself.  Most of this stuff is just decorations and really unimpressive.  Craft what you like/think you can use in your town…but really nothing is worth kill yourself over.

Best item?  It’ll vary depending on your opinion of things.  Obviously the buildings with tasks are generally must haves, especially since they’re unique.  Everything else, it’s up to you as far as what works in your town.

So again…don’t kill yourself trying to get all this stuff.  Sometimes less is more. Craft what you have use for in Springfield….

Hope that helps some of you who have been stressing out over crafting!

And there you have it my friends…the details behind Around the World Crafting!

  1. I have a TON of sky credits. I see someone suggesting I build painted houses. Is that the best “bang for my buck”?

    • Josephine Kick@$$

I’m not sure if this helps, but someone (sorry I don’t remember who), said if you’re looking for max XP, the Painted Houses are the thing to craft. They can always be put in storage😊

  2. Crafting the painted houses yields the most xp per sky credit.

  3. Hey, I’ve seen multiple Paris Hotels in couple of my friends towns, and yet it’s supposed to be unique item. At least I can’t craft more than one of those. Why am I seeing those? Is there another item that just looks like a Paris Hotel, or can you buy those in some point of the game?
    Thanks for a great post!

  4. Anyone else crafting Brazil items already? I’ve got a couple of taxis and brazilwood trees already.

    • Yes, I have crafted all the items. Just working on the quest line for the final item. Not sure what I’ll craft now. . .

      • Josephine Kick@$$

I want more shtuff 😂 I’m going to hold on to the credits & hope act 3 has much more to offer. Maybe also non-unique cash/bonus% items, (oh wait, there haven’t been any bonus% craftables). I have the feeling a lot of what I craft will end up in storage 😕 I’m still enjoying this event 😊😊😊

    • Josephine Kick@$$

I have Monolith, & I’m a little disappointed, the area is sad looking since there aren’t many items 😕

  5. Ebron come back! You can blame it all on me. I was wrong and I just can’t tap without you🙊 greengirl

  6. I noticed that when I put my Japanese maple trees away, they completely disappear from my inventory! I tried searching for them through the whole inventory and all the different categories and they’re just gone. I’m afraid to put anything else I’ve crafted in there now. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

    • The trees don’t have a pic in inventory. Scroll through the nature section looking for their name, or an item with no picture.

  7. Something strange has happened. My crafting page shows that I am at level 18 but the sky points to level up is reset to zero. I am still able to earn sky points in the game. In fact my sky points is now about 1200. However, the levelling up bar stays at zero. I know of one other player facing this. Anyone else experienced this?

Due to this issue, I am putting my crafting to a stop for time being. I have commenced in Brazil items and last item crafted is the taxi.

    • Each crafting level will show how many sky credits you’ve already spent towards levelling up for that level only. For example, level 18 0/1600 means that you have achieved level 18 crafting and that you need to spend 1600 sky credits to unlock level 19 crafting. You can spend those sky credits directly on levelling-up or you can spend those sky credits by crafting items. Either way, until you use your sky credits the levelling bar will read 0/1600 – accumulating sky credits does not unlock future crafting levels, only spending them does.

One thing I’ve noticed with this event, EA has added several 2hr tasks to characters that did not have them. I hope this is a sign of EA adding 2 & 6 hour tasks for the employment office 😀😀😀😀😀
