Should I Spend Donuts On Royal Tokyo?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Pack your bags and prepare for an invasive screening at the airport because it’s travel time in Springfield! And while our towns are embracing their ever expanding airports, our donut bank is shrinking because there are LOADS of world items in our stores just tempting us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should the Royal Tokyo to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this 5 star hotel to your Springfield…

Final Thought
Premium:
You know, it’s a building.  At the end of the day it’s a building for Springfield.  It’s one of those if you like it & have a use for it, grab it.  Otherwise pass.  You won’t be missing out on anything if you pass.

Freemium:
I’d pass on this one.  It is just a building.  Typically Freemium players are better off saving their donuts for characters and/or character/building combos.  So i’d hold off on this one, there are plenty of Japanese inspired items in the prize track and through crafting.  You won’t be missing out if you skip this one.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you as a premium player, I’m on the fence.  Trying to decide if it’ll work in one particular design idea I have.  Just remember this is limited time, and will be leaving our stores on the 21st.  So be sure to make your final decision before it’s gone from our games for good. (or for now..)

Here’s a look at the dialogue that pops up when you purchase it…

Marge: Springfield finally has it’s very own five-star hotel!
Homer: I don’t see what the big deal is. Everyone who ever comes here always ends up in the brown house, anyway.

What are your thoughts on Royal Tokyo?  Will you be picking it up or have you already?  Where have you placed it in your Springfield? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I just got it and so far haven’t triggered any video?
Nelly, the column-shaped dark-blue roofed building is a part of the KTV building.

  2. Is it just me or are all the buildings/decorations ginormous in this update?!?

  3. I bought it because I like how it looks, plus it will go well with my design.

  4. I bought it because I liked the look of it and my downtown needs another “simple” skyscraper.

  5. I’m disappointed so far with the Japanese offering in Act II. Act I had a LOT of neat stuff for French Town including the beautiful Chateau Mansion and cool Le Krusty Burger that were priced ok. I literally, as a pre-freemium player (I’ll pay, but I have to want it badly), did not purchase those neat French items waiting for cool Japanese stuff. What do we get? A 185 donut monster castle and a Tokyo skyscraper that looks like it’d fit in more with my Superhero town than Japan town. I know some of the crafting has some neat stuff, but Japanese history is teeming with beautiful art and culture, and we get a skyscraper for a premium offering? The only thing that makes it Japanese is the fact that it says “Royal Tokyo.” Take that away and it’s a skyscraper that you could label for anything. EA is blowing this for one of my favorite cultures I was so excited about actually spending donuts to create. ;_;

    • Ditto to that. I was saving my donuts for the Act II stuff, but practically every French premium item in Act 1 was something I wanted. I got Himeji Castle, but even I agree it’s stupidly overpriced. Instead of a hotel that could’ve been from anywhere, I’d prefer something distinctly Japanese, even if it’s a modern structure. The central Tokyo train station, for example.

  6. Got it as part of my Little Japan collection

  7. Sorry, misspelled Tokyo in “Royal Tokyo” …need more coffee…

  8. Made a “Tokyo Street” across from the airport…with KTV, the Royal Toykyo, Happy Sumo, and some filler buildings…have the dragons hovering behind, keeping the peace…lol

Had to chuckle @ the brown house comment from Homer😂 I bought & like it… Milhouse is playing on the elevators a second time, it might be one of his frequent tasks. I have always had a fascination for revolving doors 😊

  10. The brown house joke is very meta… I like that, but not enough to buy the building.
