Where Did THAT Come From – Eiffel Tower, Arc du Triomphe, Le Krusty Burger, Scooter, Boulangerie Patisserie, and Paris Hotel

Viva la France!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

So EA decided it’s time for all of us to go around the world or at least to France, Japan, and Brazil in a there’s lots of new stuff for Springfield tourism sort of way that also included a legitimate airport. This walking carpet is super stoked so far. Of course, with new events and a preponderance of items comes my perpetual task of diving into the Best. Show. Ever. and pointing out just where everything comes from in the show. For this round of origins, we’ll be looking at the Eiffel Tower, Arc du Triomphe, Le Krusty Burger, Scooter, the Boulangerie Patisserie, and The Simpsons. Let’s check out the TV series, shall we?

So no surprise… all of these French items come from Simpsons episodes involving France. I know… duh Wookiee. I’m promoted to Captain Obvious. What you may not have realized is just how many episodes include France. What I’ll do is just take you through the episodes and point out each item.

“The Crepes of Wrath” (S1:E11) – the Eiffel Tower is front and center as Bart’s plane flies him to Paris, France. This whole episode revolves more around Bart’s time at Chateau Maison and there’s a bunch of other items from this event in the episode but I dedicated a whole post to those so we’ll move on.

“Bart-Mangled Banner” (S15:E21) – This is a funny episode with Bart trying to avoid getting a shot, losing his hearing, and then accidentally mooning the American flag leading to a lot of commentary about American opinion about patriotism. It’s really quite funny with lots of jokes but the reason we find ourselves here in Season 15 is the result of Springfield and then the entire United States labeling our favorite yellow family as Un-American. Courtesy of Alcatraz and a French fishing vessel (yes, you read that right), the Simpsons live for a brief moment in none other than Paris, France. We see Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie eating inside the Eiffel Tower.

“The Devil Wears Nada” (S21:E5) – Carl becomes the supervisor for sector 7G at the Nuclear Power Plant after Ted retires and ends up being a much different sort of boss than Lenny and Homer would like. Poor Homer ends up Carl’s overworked executive assistant. They go to Fission Week for the Nuclear Power Plant Exposition in France. Hello Arc du Triomphe and Eiffel Tower! They show up a bunch actually. Here’s the amazing wrought iron lattice tower engineered by Gustave Eiffel.

The Arc du Triomphe has the most appearances here too. Nothing honors those who died in the French Revoluton and Napoleonic Wars like being in a Simpsons episode parodying The Devil Wears Prada.

Le Krusty Burger is in the montage when Homer first sees the sights of Paris.

Carl’s new lady friend and the Parisian rockers are seen on scooters. Carl loves France but Homer just misses Marge. He passes the Boulangerie Patisserie where French bread looks just like his beloved.

We also see that elements of Paris being in Springfield and connected to the Airport comes straight out of an episode as Homer leaves to return to his lovely wife.

“Once Upon a Time in Springfield” (S21:E10) – Paris and the Eiffel Tower are once again in an episode when Krusty decides not to marry Princess Penelope. She was the one woman Krusty cared enough about to ditch at the altar. Penelope has become a café performer next to the Seine (I know how to say that word because of a Disney movie featuring Quasimodo lol).

“To Courier with Love” (S27:E20) – Well considering this is an episode all about the whole family going to Paris, it should come a no surprise that we get more of the Eiffel Tower.

The Venus de Milo shows up in this episode too in Homer’s thoughts about rats in the gardens of the Louvre.

There’s the Arc du Triomphe too.

The last little item is the craftable Paris Hotel where the family stays.

So there you go all your lovers, revolutionaries, and tourists. A bunch of stuff from episodes where The Simpsons went to France. Did you remember all the episodes? Happy to have a certain joie de vivre in your town? SOund off in the comments and happy classy tapping. I think it adds a certain je ne sais quoi to our towns and yes I know what I just said lol. Now just to figure out what to do with it all.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. When I tap on what I think is the side of the Paris Hotel, I get some random world facts.

  2. Ah-Ha! So that’s why when you click on the Venus in game you can see it’s actually made out of date. I’ve seen every episode numerous times but had forgotten all about Homer’s daydreaming.

  3. The artwork on the Springfield Arc du Triomphe is truly exceptional…someone put a lot of effort into this piece👍…Thanks EA.
Thanks, also, Wookie for another entertaining entry…always look forward to your WDTCF submissions😄…

  4. I didn’t even know that the Boulangerie Patisserie appeared in the show. 🙂

  5. I love the Eiffel Tower in real life and in game. I’m just disappointed the version in game doesn’t light up like the real one (and like a couple of the pictures above). Maybe one day they’ll give us a skin.

  6. As Bart might tell you, French it would be “Vive la France!” rather than “viva”

  7. Your missing the Treehouse of Horror episode where the Neutron Bomb France sends at Springfield was under the Eiffel Tower.

  8. I’m enjoying the event in Act 2. I don’t understand the relevance of the “Osaka Flu”. The worldwide infection is 115% in my game and I was sure we would get a prize of some sort to tie in with the theme of Act 2. There doesn’t seem to be any advantage to this part of the Event.

    • I believe it’s just giving you more infected tourists to tap on.

    • From what I understood by the Addicts team is that this flu is just a side line game. Nothing more to it. It does help with Pins and Flight Coupons but that’s about it. Just a little side game and no prizes.

Both my wife and I play the game and she received the black plane that comes after finishing Norberts tasks and I have not yet received it. I finished the tasks b4 her. Has anyone else not been given the plane after completing the tasks or if anyone can give me a reason as to y I did not receive it yet I would like to hear from u. Thanks

    • There are 7 daily tasks which must be completed and the plane is awarded on the 8th day, which is 2/19.

      • Ozzieandthestraw

I know that’s what’s supposed to happen but it didn’t that’s y i am trying to figure out y I have not received it yet. I know that sometimes this happens to people and it also happend to me once b4 with the duff christmas tree. I just want to get some advise as to what I can do because I am all out of ideas. And my wife keeps rubbing it in

        • How could you finish or your wife finish the tasks when there are only 3 a day for 7 days? There is no way to skip ahead of the days. For me the Norbert Flight Tasks reset at 1 am MST. and no way to advance it.
How you have managed to finish off all of Norbert’s tasks is beyond me.
I haven’t been able to find anyone else who has run into this glitch.
