Should I Spend Donuts On the Try and Stop Us Billboard?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Pack your bags and prepare for an invasive screening at the airport because it’s travel time in Springfield! And while our towns are embracing their ever expanding airports, our donut bank is shrinking because there are LOADS of world items in our stores just tempting us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Try and Stop Us Billboard to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this billboard to your Springfield…

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
This is going to be one of those “if you like it” items.  It should surprise no one I’m not a fan of this.  I’m never a fan of billboards, unless they do something (or they’re free).  So if you feel like you need it for your Springfield, grab it.  Otherwise pass.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you as a premium player, I’m passing (as I almost always do with billboards). Just remember this is limited time, and will be leaving our stores next week.  So be sure to make your final decision before it’s gone from our games for good. (or for now..)

Here’s a look at the dialogue that pops up:

Lisa: Is a threatening billboard really the best way to welcome people into Springfield?
Mayor Quimby: Tourists are jewels on the cushion of hospitality.  So they deserve to know this place is a craphole.

What are your thoughts on the billboard?  Will you be picking it up or have you already?  Where have you placed it in your Springfield? What were some of your reasons for picking it up or passing? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. It doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the event stuff. Plus, I try really hard to NOT buy everything. Already passed on the Sugarloaf Mountain, but that’s back now, and I don’t know if I can stay strong… Although the Brasilian stuff hasn’t really inspired me all that much, it still just kind of sits there. Now, if I just had the Mountain, surely everything would come together…. 😉

  2. Haha, that brings back memories. I put that picture on an apron after it came out.

  3. What about the great wall pieces. Is it only three or do you get a chance to make more?

  4. All the premium items from the event have returned to the store, including the chinese items. Which makes me very happy, because I got another chance to buy the one thing I regretted skipping – the great wall. Thank you – EA!

  5. This is also off-topic… What is everyone crafting? I have over 17,000 and I’ve crafted everything I really care about. Are they planning on adding more crafting items… Like they did with the buildings? TIA

    • I’m in the same boat and countless others as well. Would be nice to get new stuff, but if I hold my breath, I’ll turn blue.

    • I always like foliage. Trees, lavender fields, and more trees. I also like the little lanterns, so I’m getting extras of those, and a few lifeguard towers for the beach. Mostly those big red trees, though, I really like those.

I’m crafting many motorcycle with sidecars and lavender fields because they are small and easy to place and I have one of everything 😉

    • Wine!

    • Lavender. I’m crafting lavender.

  6. I like it but I’ll forget about it

  7. I noticed that I’m only getting credit for tapping 1 Osaka flu person. I can tap the other 3 but I do not receive flu points. I started a couple of days ago on level 4, 750 – 850. I was ahead and figured EA would fix but now only 5 days. Contacted EA and after 20 the person still did not know what I was talking about but told me to check the forums and he would talk to his colleagues. I’ll probably try to re install, but I’ve played a while and it takes so long. Any suggestions or any benefits for completing level 5 of the flu. Thanks

    • no real benefit. When you reach level 5 you will only get 4 Sky Credits and 4 Pins for each infected tourist. Not the 14 of each you get from levels 1 to 4.
You don’t get point to advance your infection level by tapping on infected tourists you get ONE point for each pin you collect from your friends visiting your springfield. So collect those pins on YOUR buildings in your town to advance your infection to get closer to leveling up.

    • You only get ‘flu points’ for clearing buildings in your town that have been tapped by your neighbours, not from infected tourists. I reached level 5 a few days ago and so far there are no benefits; in fact it’s worse than the other levels as you don’t receive extra pins and sky credits from tapping them, just the standard 4 of each currency, the same as regular tourists. Whether anything else will happen with the flu element of this event, I’ve no idea! Nothing happened when world infection reached 100%, it just keeps (somehow) steadily rising.

I don’t know if it’s already been mentioned, but EA are giving everybody 2000 pins and 500 Sky Credits to apologise for the connection problems on Tuesday.

  9. Got a small update…gifted 500 Sky-credits and 2000 Pins from EA…I guess to makeup for the time the servers were down yesterday…nice gesture on their part👍😁.

    • Especially considering it wasn’t their fault!

      • Not their fault but God help them if they didn’t pay up to prevent people from squealing.

        • That’s what customer service is all about, though. It’s not the grocery store’s fault if your milk goes bad, but they’ll still give you a refund for it. It’s not the retailer’s fault if the shoes you ordered don’t fit right, but they will still give you a free exchange. And it’s not EA’s fault we lost time this event, but they still made up for it. Keeping customers happy is in the long term interest of any company. Doesn’t matter if the fault was actually theirs or not, it matters that people are happy enough to keep buying stuff from them.

        • Ain’t that the truth.

  10. Off topic, but I’ve just gone into my game and was pleased to get a nice “we’re sorry” message and some bonus pins and sky credits in apology for the server problems. I think that is really good of EA, especially as the server problems weren’t their fault 😀

  11. Going right next to Americatown!

Thanks for the info! If I had more donuts I would snag this one. Thanks for this site guys! I started a few months ago with this game and have really been helped by the wealth of knowledge and positive community here.

  13. EA is a definite class act. I just got a “thanks for hanging in there” notice (para-phrased), AND 2000 pins and 500 skymiles. A lot of games could take a nod from these guys. 🙂 I wont mention names, that would be TINY of me, and show a lack of COmpassion… 😉

  14. if i spend donuts to get know the prize
    i get the pins needed?

  15. The sign reminds me of two men with white hair 🙁

  16. I would have slapped myself if I didn’t bought this item to put it at the Airport exit.

  17. Goes perfect with my United Nations section and New World order section.

As an English person who was going to move to America and spends everyday watching American politic news, this billboard is perfect given the current climate

    • As an American and Midwestern, I’d like to apologize for its apparent accuracy and assure you that the most of us do not feel this way.

      • Seems appropriate for Pennsylvania Avenue, but won’t be in my town…everybody welcome in my Springfield…

    • Precisely why I *don’t* want it. =/

      • Yeah, ditto. Maybe I’d get it if it said, “No, really, please try and stop us. We’re as worried as you are.”
