Around the World is Nearing the End… (& Info About Norbert’s Plane & What to Craft)

A Quick Note: There’s a glitch right now for many of you with Norbert’s Plane.  You’re unable to get it.  There’s a thread about it here on EA’s forum and a few of you have mentioned that you’ve contacted EA about it.  EA has advised some of you that they will be releasing a patch to resolve this issue.  I have not spoken with EA about this, so I’m just going off of what some of y’all are telling me. My best advice is to contact EA, let them know you’re impacted as well.

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just a reminder that the Around the World Event Ends TOMORROW March 7th.  (I just realized I made an error on my time from yesterday, it appears it ends at 9am ET, 2pm GMT)

This means that you will want to make that final push to gather up all the things you want from the Event before it goes with the Event.

aroundtheworldicon

As far as what is going to happen AFTER the Event… well, we can’t know… until it is over. Lol. Until then all we can do is speculate. So, patience. We all have to verify what happens after together.

Now as far as to what is going with the Event, here is a brief rundown…

  • Questlines linked directly to the progression of the Event will go. Like the Main Questlines that pulled you through all 3 Acts.
  • However, the questlines linked directly the the prizes you’ve won will remain. (so Tiago, Sakatumi etc)
  • The event removal will require an app store update to fully remove it from your game.  So don’t panic when the timer runs down and the event isn’t out of your game…  It will require an app store update to remove everything.

I know some of you still try to push that last few minutes of collection as far as you can. If you turn OFF the auto update feature in your App Market, you may give yourself an extra day or so just know that ANY time after the 7th is borrowed time and you are doing so at YOUR OWN RISK. EA can force the update at anytime after the 7th and make you update. So use any extra time wisely and get what you need before you have to remove the Event completely.

So tap those last few tourists and relax and wait to see what EA has next in store for us.

Additional note:

Some of you are asking what you should craft with all of your extra crafting currency.  There’s no magic item to craft.  There’s no way of knowing what EA might make premium in the future, with a bonus %.  Best advice I can give you is craft at least one of everything.  If there’s something you think you could use in a particular design (like Taxi Cabs, Life Guard Tower, Trees or Flowers) craft a bunch of them and stick them in storage.

If you feel like you’ve crafted everything you want, then it’s ok to not use all of your crafting currency.  Just because you have it doesn’t mean you need to spend it.

A few others asked me about which gives the most XP when placed in Springfield…it appears as if each item (you can craft multiples of) gives you 100xp when placed in Springfield.  So there’s no item that gives you more of an advantage.

Are you sad to see the event go?  Or ready for it to finally be over?  How did you do with the prizes?  Get everything you wanted?  What are you hoping to see next?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. This event made up for the “Bah Humbug” Christmas we had a few months ago…thanks EA….

  2. I predict (or at least hope) that we will be able to craft or buy more runway pieces.

  3. Good event but lost option to get norbert’s plane still waiting on EA not 😢😢😢😢

  4. 100xp on the craftable items? Is that a typo?

  5. This has been my favorite event since the casino event. That said, I’m always ready for these long events to end. Bring on something new. 😀

  6. Will the free land tokens stay?

    • I don’t see why they wouldn’t, but I can’t say for certainty.

    • They are in our inventory so I believe they will stay (but I’m only guessing). I’m chancing holding onto mine because I’m not touching the most expensive squares yet, and I want to save them for that.

  7. Good event overall.

  8. This was a great event, you could fulfill everything without too much stress. I like that.

  9. this bonuts take a lot of resources to get, I’ve had like 3 at the most so far

I enjoyed this one a lot. Great items and despite me starting late, achievable.
This is a good idea as I see “around the world” could return with other venues.

  11. I did finally get the golden train, it just took a day longer than it was supposed to. I’m not sure if that’s my mistake, or some sort of glitch, but I’m glad it resolved before the event was over. As events go, it wasn’t bad, but not my favorite either. There were some good prizes this time, which was very nice. We’ve had a few events where everything we received felt like little more than clutter for my neighborhood. And it was great that this time we were given free land plots to place the oversized items we won, that was a nice touch. I didn’t care for the duplicates in the lost luggage, I have no use for multiple hangars, planes, and terminals. The craftables were better with this event though. I hate making duplicates of items I didn’t want in the first place, just to move up to the next level. But the lavender, different types of trees from Japan, and the wonderful funky colored houses solved that issue for me. I also had no problem getting all the prizes from this event, which has been an issue in previous events. All in all, I’d have to say I was very pleased with this one! I am happy for it to be over though, I’m looking forward to whatever comes next. I’m hoping that EA has been paying attention to the posts here, and chooses one of the events that the players came up with. Personally, I’d really like to see the wizards event come to fruition, that would be awesome!

  12. It was a good event with plenty of nice decorations, a cool airport and some new buildings and characters, but after 3 weeks + , I’m ready to move on.

  13. Another off topic question, will unused land tokens disappear when the event ends?

  14. So, I was “almost” impacted ( impacted because I don’t know if I was affected or effected) by the Norbert glitch. I placed him, did the tasks, closed out of the game. Came back the next day and the plane was gone. I checked my character list and the game still recognized that I had him and my set was complete. I then searched my town, I found him walking around, still no plane. I stored him, then unstored. Plane returned, no issues since.
That was the short version of what happened. I panicked at first. Went to KL and visited neighbors, still no plane. Then I scoured my inventory, threw my tablet and swore off this game. But it all worked out. Hope I help someone out there with this.

  15. After the disappointing Christmas event, I was concerned that I was losing my enthusiasm for my favorite game. I have really enjoyed this event, so I am a happy Tapper once again. I will be sad to see it go. I did enjoy the fact that we didn’t have to try to track down all the little tourists to tap on in our neighbors’ towns, it is so much quicker and easier to tap on buildings.

  16. Way better event than last three – scifi, halloween and xmas – but im ready to move on

Way better event than last three – scifi, halloween and halloween– but im also ready to move on

  17. Just opened up my game and the plane appeared! I’d contacted EA, and was just about to respond to their response, but thought I’d check the game first. I didn’t see an update, but it might have been quick. Glad not to have to continue contact with EA as it’s after midnight here haha. Good luck to everyone else, hopefully you’ll have the plane soon.

  18. This is the first event in a while I’m still enjoying. I’m ok with it going though because I want to remember it this way. I’ve still got lots of decorating to finish up too with all my new buildings and decorations.

  19. Will we be able to keep our free land tokens? I hope they are not only for this event.

  20. I rarely/never purchase npc’s, but I would love to keep speedo tourist in my town. He is hilarious!

    • DOORMAN- I’m hoping we get to keep some of ghe tourists too. Fingers crossed EA will offer them in country specific bundles. I really enjoyed this event. Great free prizes, craftables, land, sea & dialogue…..💜X

  21. Can we buy more runway parts after the event finishes?

    • There’s no way of knowing that at the moment. There’s no coding just for the tiles, it’s possible with the event removal, but we won’t know until it’s release.

  22. I contacted EA about Norbert yesterday. I got the email saying it was a known problem, and this morning the plane was waiting for me. So I suggest opening a ticket, jic.

  23. Problem with the Norbert tasks is not only do they reset each morning – if you don’t make it to the third one on the previous day, it vanishes – but you don’t even get the right destination for the new task, no matter what you do. It looks like you still have to wait four hours to “finish” the previous day’s third task without getting anything for it. And that of course makes it even harder to finish the new tasks. Despite making it on time, it looks like I won’t get Norbert in my B-game. Even if they fix it today, it will probably be too late for most of us.

    • Looks like the minute I posted this the glitch was fixed. At least the right destinations show up now, lets see if Norbert will be there after task three. I still don’t see the red plane, only the normal “lost luggage”, but who knows, it might just be in there 😉

  24. I want an Osaka Flu cloud of my very own….

  25. This was the best update in years, my best friend stopped playing over the summer and I was getting close to as well, this was the first time that the event was really interesting in a long time for me, I hope they do another one of these events with other countries like Australia, maybe Canada, the mind just fills with possibilities

  26. I crafted 2 of each of the buildings, the ones that were just decorations, and at least 5 of everything else. Almost all of the extra crafting currency beyond that is split among the 3 new trees, so far I have 20 of each. I figure they will help make the yards and forests prettier. Happy Tapping Everyone good luck on the final push. Oh and EA if your reading this PLEASE OH PLEASE release the Mutant Corn Bobs again PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE The one that laughs and rubs butter on his belly make me laugh, I would really like to have him wandering my town now that I have the D’s for him.

  27. It was a fun event. I got all the prices with days to spare.
I have replace a lot of the pine trees by cherry blossom and maple trees. Much nicer in my opinion.

  28. karenskuality

    Sad? No way…good riddin’s!!!

Bring on “Merry Happy St. Patrick’s Groundhog Day” event that we’ve all been looking forward to?

  29. NPC’s pleaae

  30. I got Norbert’s task bug in my B town. Luckily I got him and his plane anyway despite his plane not showing up in the three tasks (as it did in my main game), once I finished all three daily tasks. I also received the golden train after the questline.

In my B town, I am a few thousand pins short of Tiago. Usually I don’t bother playing the price track all the way to the last price in my B town, but this time I got close anyway because I wanted Norbert and it was easy to get him with just playing the three daily destinations. So it will be very close to get these last pins in time for Tiago.

During the last event (“christmas”) once the counter ran out, you could no longer earn event currency. In fact, I think EA instantly removed most of the event menus (you could keep earing from the gnome, but prize track and crafting were gone). So – to be on the safe side, I will spend all my event curreny early and maybe even use donuts for Tiago if needed before the timer runs out.
