More (Late) Prognostrication from Wookstradamus

A day late and a dollar short.

I’m sure regular readers have noticed I haven’t been around as much with school going on. Life has been crazy and between school, work, and life, there’s not a lot of free time. One thing that does bring me joy though in the moments I have to myself is writing here, doing my geek podcast, and playing the silly little mobile game which led to the writing gig in the first place.

Over the last week, I’ve been working on another speculation post based on the hints EA gave us with the take down of the Vacation Event. I love that they’re giving us teases which actually pan out and I feel it poignant to point out that a lot of folks guessed from the last one that Rommelwood Academy was in our futures. I wasn’t one of them but oh well. It definitely fits into the idea of Military Miseducation.

But wait!?! Didn’t the most recent one thing say something about misfires in connection to the military? I don’t see anything which falls into that category unless you count the premium missile with a drawing of Homer on it so it while I initially thought about scrapping this entire post as being too late to matter, instead of wasting the time it took to get it done, I figured it couldn’t hurt to still present my ideas. Heck… even a broken clock is right twice a day so why not prognoscticate like the Wookstradumb@$$ I am?

Here’s what EA had to say…

While my guess for ‘miseducation’ didn’t pan out… I did find myself reminiscing about appearance by the military in the Best. Show. Ever. and found myself hoping the new ‘misfires’ clue would actually bring us a proper military base to our town. In particular, the airman in me had hoped for the United States Air Force Base from “Sideshow Bob’s Last Gleaming” (S7:E9). The mighty chair force (I can say that as a vet) is known for placing bombs on target although my army buddy always tells me when you Aim High you miss. This seemd like the perfect clever way to hit this clue… guess that’s what I get for trying to be clever.

Other ideas I had were Area 51-A from “Lost Our Lisa” (S9:E24), Fort Fragg from “Brother’s Little Helper” (S11:E2), and Fort Clinton from “G.I. (Annoyed Grunt)” (S18:E5).

Fort Springfield is in a bunch of episodes too and I always laugh at its closure crippling Springfield’s vibrant economy based on ladies of the night and liquor industries. It’s why Springfield legalized gambling after all.

I’m happy with the addition of Rommelwood but I guess I’m chalking up the word ‘misfire’ to EA either not giving a good clue or picking the wrong thing to add. I would have been in hog heaven with the Flying Hellfish or the Party Posse. A WWII tank just doesn’t cut it for me I suppose. But enough with me be ungrateful. This dealio is pretty cool IMHO and there WERE more clues than just this one. It’s these hints that really made me decide to keep going with this post. I’m a fan of mini-events but they’re just place holders until we get to the next main event after all. Let’s take a look at the other possible visions of our TSTO future.

A Covert Convention?

So immediately I think of the Springfield Convention Center in the game which came our way as a freemium building during Level 56. Remember those good old days when all we waited for was the next level? Anyhoo… I wrote a whole post about the Springfield Convention Center which could offer tons of ideas.

I’m a big fan of cons as a giant geeky fuzzy hominid. Jebus knows I’m hoping this means Bi Mon Sci Fi Con will finally be in the game and I’d love to see all the citizens of Springfield in cosplay.

I’m thinking of when the bar district did a superhero themed bar crawl or any time the bi-monthly SPringfield convention has shown up. Heck, it could be a way to bring back Halloween costume or old super shtuff or do something completely new. Maybe it’s too close to the two Superhero events? What would make the convention a secret? Have the bullies had enough of superheroes being cool lately? Are CBG and Milo going to clandestinely twitter war over whose wife is hotter? Could it be an entirely different convention that has nothing to do with capes and super powers? In that line of thought, my brain immediately heads to the Bran Producers Convention which managed to book out every hotel room in Springfield in “Helter Shelter” (S14:E5).

Big Corporate Cereal is pretty covert or it could all be a Movementarian Conspiracy? Anyone who saw my idea in the Main Event Contest saw everything I’d love from this. You know Movementarians are a sneeze and an Addicts Live away from me mentioning another cult following. They have conventions in Hollywood, right?

We could always get Patty and Selma holding their clandestine MacGyver convention after kidnapping Richard Dean Anderson from the Stargate: SG1 Convention in “Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore” (S17:E17). The E4 Convention from “The Food Wife” (S23:E5) is also an idea. I know when I was married I often had to hide my video game playing from my significant other. Do gamers also have secret cons? Don’t they keep future properties a secret? Bingo!

Which brings us to the last clue… a Fake French Fop. A fop is “a man who is concerned with his clothes and appearance in an affected and excessive way or a dandy” according to dictionary.com so I scanned my brain and Simpsons knowledge to think of who this might be. If you’d asked me about this a couple years ago I’d have said the French Waiter fit the bill but with that in mind, I wondered if the French chef who tried to murder food critic Homer in “Guess Who’s Coming to Criticize Dinner?” (S11:E3) was too deep a pull.

Mmmmmm…. eclairs. Why not bring back more booths with a secret food convention of sorts from that episode? Of course, I say all that and it is truly just a misdirect because I’m hoping this hint is referencing Jacques from “Life on the Fast Lane” (S1:E9). I think he fits this hint perfectly and EA excluding him from all the French stuff we got sort of surprised me (as did the exclusion of Adil and Senor Ding Dong).

So there you go. A few of my thoughts based on hints from EA. These could really mean a bunch of things and I wonder what your thoughts are. Are you happy with Rommelwood being what was teased? Hoping for other military items? Any favorites? Maybe I’ll be right about one of my picks… it’s happened before but like I said… clocks and such. If not, it’s always fun to conjecture. I’ll end this speculatory post but what do you see in your crystal ball? Anything you think they’re mentioning that I missed or forgot?
