Secret Agents 101: Situation Room Basics and Days 1-9

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Wowsers is this new update something or what?  The Secret Agent update hit our games yesterday and not only is it full of spies, drones and men in tan suits, but it has it’s fair share of intrigue as well!

Loads of intrigue surrounding the Situation Room and Dossiers, what are they?  How do you unlock it? What can you win?  Who do you need to keep free?  Well let’s break all of that down and more (including the first 9 days of tasks)….

As always, let’s start with the basics…

How Do I Unlock the Situation Room?

The Situation Room unlocks via the Act 1 questline.  During the Man Who Knew Too Little Pt. 4 quest you’ll get a task to “Send Agents to Collect Intel on the Widowmaker”.   This is a task for 3 characters and lasts 4hrs.  Once that task is complete, and only when that 4hr task is complete, you’ll unlock the Situation Room.

Remember, you have to finish the 4hr task.  Your questline will move on prior to finishing that task, but you’ll only unlock the Situation Room when you’ve finished that task.

So What Exactly Am I Doing?

So, the Situation Room is where the dossiers are kept.  Complete the dossier objectives (tasks) to clear the day’s objective.

Basically (for those who’ve played events in the past), the Situation Room is this events Norbert’s Daily Tasks. Each day you’ll be assigned two new tasks to complete.  Finish those tasks (they’ll each take 4hrs) to clear the day’s objective.  Pretty simple.

How Long Are the Tasks?  Can I Complete More Than One Set?

Each task is 4hrs long, and because two characters are involved for each day’s task you can complete both tasks simultaneously.

You cannot move ahead, each day’s Dossier will only unlock on that day. (so Day 1 unlocked on 3/28, Day 2 on 3/29 (today), Day 3 will unlock 3/30 and so on)  However, if you miss a day you’ll still be able to complete that Dossier the next day.  In otherwords, if you missed Day 1…on Day 2 you’ll be able to Complete Day 1 and once that’s completed you’ll be able to work on Day 2.

What Time Do The Dossiers Reset Each Day?

For me, in my Springfield, they reset each day at 3am EDT (which is GMT +4, so 7am GMT)

Who Goes On the Tasks?  Everyone In Springfield?

Nope.  Fortunately, there’s a core group of 7 Freemium Characters that need to be available for Dossier Tasks.  Those 7 characters are:

Homer, Apu, Cletus, Krusty, Skinner, Marge & Moe

Right Now It Only Shows 9 Dossiers (9 Days) What Happens After the 9 Days?

On Day 9, assuming you’ve finished the 9 Dossiers you’ll unlock a prize and the count will start all over again with another set of tasks and a new prize to unlock.  This will repeat itself a few times to unlock more prizes…

But If I Have Characters Tied Up With Dossiers Won’t That Take Away from my Intel Earning?

Nope.  The characters will still earn 40 intel even when they’re on their Dossier task.

So If I Complete the Dossiers I’ll get a Prize, Is That It?

Nope.  Each day you complete the 2 (or 3 in some cases) dossier tasks you’ll earn 1,000 intel as a dossier bonus. So for the 9 days to unlock the first prize that’s a bonus 9,000 intel.  Not to shabby…

So What’s the First Prize?  What Do I Get At the End of the First 9 Days?

Is the Screamapillar Pond….

So let’s go on with what I’m sure most of you want to know…what are the first 9 days of tasks and who do you need to complete them.  Well here’s the list:

Day Task Character Needed
1 Study CCTV Footage Apu
Sleep With one Eye Open Cletus
2 Be So Boring Nobody Notices Him Skinner
Track Gossip Trends Marge
3 Smash Important Enemy Stuff Moe
Whistle While Sneaking Homer
4 Illegally Access Webcams Krusty
Borrow Enemy Information Marge
5 Bully His Way Into a Function Moe
Swallow Secret And Not Secret Info Homer
6 Transmit Codes Over the PA Skinner
Swipe Important Documents Moe
7 Sit On Important Enemy Stuff Homer
Make Moonshine Detonators Cletus
8 Fall Down Get Back Up Krusty
Change An Enemys Expiration Date Apu
9 Shoplift Enemy Information Apu
Hide Codes In Burgers Krusty

So for tomorrow, Day 3, you’ll need Moe and Homer for the dossier tasks.  If I remember (and you guys think it’s necessary) I’ll try to do a post each night of who you’ll need free for the next day’s Dossiers.

And that’s it my friends!  The basic details of the Situation Room, including tasks for Days 1 through 9.  The room is set to reset on April 6th, where April 5th would be day 9.  So I’ll be back on the 5th or 6th for a breakdown of the next set of tasks….

What are your thoughts on the situation room?  Pretty easy to figure out? Like the idea of another prize track? Thoughts on the day 9 prize? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Your calendar says new Dossiers should have stated by now, but I got the screaming catapiller and haven’t seen any more Dossiers open up. Should I be worried is is everyone else finding the same thing?

  2. EA
    Keep it simple
    Make it fun
    No NPC’s 👍

  3. This one is pretty straight forward… What I’m really struggling with is getting schematics!!!! I still haven’t been able to level up once!!! Arrgghhh. Any ideas?

    • Relax. Everyone is in the same situation and we’re only on day 3 of a 40-day event. A lot can happen between now and then. Trust in EA.

  4. Hey everybody,
Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place or if this has been discussed elsewhere but I can’t find agents in my town. The message comes up that I am lousy with them but then I go in and not a one to be found!

    • They may be stuck between houses buildings n rails. I have a housefarm n I’ve had this problem with all events since Halloween.

  5. If anybody is undecided on the Globex complex, here is a picture of mine…I added 2 modern mansion side buildings and 2 global housing pieces to complete it. Moved my fountains to make room for the shark ponds….
The orange building that comes with the package is in the process of becoming wings to the SH Technical Institute…Will post a picture when it’s finished(24 hrs to generate a new wing)…

Moved a couple ghost zappers over to the Headquarters area to provide a power source…figured they’d want to stay “off the grid”…

  6. Looking at the crafting levels I’m working on the assumption there will be a big increase in droprate of blue doodads in each new act. The items in the first four levels require fairly low numbers of doodads to make, then the next four have medium amounts, then the next four high amounts. I can see having all of the “low ticket” items within two weeks, so it feels at the moment like we’re “supposed” to be working at a rate of about four levels per act.

(Of course now they’ll change the rates tomorrow and say it was a glitch…)

  7. Mines resets at 9am GMT, but so far so good, haven’t had much time for neighbours visits, will this effect my totals?

    • Depends on how many characters you have earning event currency at HQ, and how well you’re earning intel. If you’re ok, then it can wait.

    • British summer time has started in the UK so my dossiers now reset at 8am GMT.which is a bummer as I’m driving to work by then.

    • Yes.

But it’s possible that, if you have a lot of the premium characters who can earn event currency, you may be able to get away with missing some neighbor visits. Keep in mind, though, that not visiting your neighbours not only affects how will you do, it affects how well they do, too.

  8. I may be missing something, but does it seem like the blue schematics are exceptionally hard to collect? They only appear to drop from doing the hidden agent minigame that opens up every 4 hours, and the amount you get from that is ridiculously small. Or, you may rarely, randomly get one from tapping a tan agent.

On the first day of the event I put in one of the spy plants from level 1, then the bus shelter, but after that I’m only sitting at 18 schematics and it takes a total of 180 alone just to hit level 2. I’m halfway there, at 90.

Considering the final prize at level 12 takes 1800 of these things, I’m wondering if EA misprogrammed the amount of them we should be getting and whether some kind of adjustment will be coming in, because at the rate I’m getting them so far, it’s going to be impossible to get anywhere with that.

    • bayer@warstudies.net

Hi there, I have the same issue: while I could so far collect more than 13,000 units of the primary in-quest currency, I have some 140 of the blue ones. Any idea what to do? TIA!

    • alex - aabcampos2

Don´t worry. If it gets to hard to accomplish, EA will change it.

It have been done many times at various past events….

    • I hope they will change it as well. The final prize is so expensive and I think most people will want to get it. And you can’t save up for it because you need to unlock all the levels first.

Sorry if posting in wrong thread! Just wanted to say how the globe fits with the whole globex theme

  10. You can actually work on several dossiers at once if you missed them on the previous day. In one of my test games, I have six people working on the first three dossiers at once, so it is really easy to catch up.

And on unlocking the dossiers: You don’t need to finish the task “Man Who Knew Too Little Pt. 4”, it starts as soon as you finish the first secret collection task at HQ. I send everyone on that task, but needed Homer again to continue the quest line. I rushed his task, and right away the dossiers opened up. To make sure I repeated that in a test game, with the same result. Dossiers unlock as soon as the first character at the HQ is done.

  11. What’s with the Mystery Box? I’ve tapped it several times to view, it “sends” me into My Springfield, and then what do I do? THANKYOU..

    • The Mystery box is something that you can spend 70 donuts on to get a random item. It *should* send you to the store, I think.

    • It probably means you already have all the items that are being offered in the box so there’s nothing for you to get.

  12. Has any one noticed how had it is to get the crafting event materials ?? Also will EA be looking in to it

  13. Hi Alissa; I loved your Wedding choice! I walked down the aisle to Led Zeppelin’s “Thank You” 32 years ago – still married! If you’ve not heard the song then check it out!

  14. I was pleasantly surprised by 1000!

  15. Just had to had to have Hank. This looks like another great event. EA is doing a great job lately. Almost as good as Team Bunny!

    • Team Bunny? Are you referring to Bunny, who used to be a moderator here but hasn’t really been active on this site for almost a year? Or is this in reference to something else? (If it’s the former, then I’d substitute “Team Alissa,” since she does the majority of the heavy lifting around here, with help from Patric and Wookiee.)

I’m A big Bond fan here’s trivia .. The eye looking circle thing at the beginning was in reality a rolled up store receipt that Broccoli came up with in his pocket It looks like a gun barrel

    • It does look shiny. Cute info. I watched all James Bond too and love the theme songs. In particular, The Living Daylights, A View to a Kill, All Time High, For your Eyes Only

  17. That Screamapillar pond is going to look FANTASTIC in my Buddhist temple area. But I also feel I should put it at the Simpson house because of that classic episode. Hmmm, decisions decisions, what to do what to do?

  18. LOVE the new banner!!!

  19. Hey everybody. Quick question . . . has anybody else experienced problems getting the update on iOS? I opened the game tonight and got the “Want, Want, Want” screen (the first indication I’d seen that there was a new event), which took me to the App Store. The App Store had the updated game icon, but instead of being able to choose “Update,” the only option available was “Open.” Clicking “Open” takes me back to the “Want, Want, Want” screen, so I’m in a loop. In nearly 4 years I’ve never had a problem with an update before. Anybody else experience this? Any advice on how to fix it?
    Thanks!
    Dexex

    • Assuming you have an Origin ID (so your game is backed up on their servers), do an uninstall/reinstall. It takes a while, but it should fix you right up! 🙂

    • Me too! We are falling behind 😩😡

    • Do you have enough storage in your device? Try to clear some space and try again?

    • I had the same problem on my iPad, the new icon was there but would only open. In the end I went to the App Store featured page and hit the update link down the bottom of the page, then searched for tapped out, then it gave me the update button. Maybe try that.

    • I often find that when there is an App Store update available, I have to go through the Update Apps list to find Tapped-Out and then it will give me the option to ‘UPDATE’. If I just search for Tapped-Out it will only give me the option to ‘OPEN’.

      Hope it helps!
      👍👍👍

    • The same thing happened to me… When I searched for Tapped Out, the button would only say “open” instead of “update.” I simply hit the updates ICON on the bottom right corner of the App Store interface, scrolled down, & this time Tapped Out did indeed say “update!” I hit the button & started enjoying the new storyline as soon as the download was finished. Hope this works for u as well… Good luck!

    • Open the App-Store directly, not from the game, and go to the “Updates” page, where all the available updates are listed. Tapped Out should be there, with an update button next to it. Click the button, and the update should start. Worked for me.

    • Marion (AnothrAddict)

      Hi Dexex and Mel,
As Sandra said uninstall/reinstall. Thats the only way i could move forward and get the update on my iPad. Happened to me last update as well. Not sure why, because like you Dex, this has not been an issue for me in the past four years until recently. So frustrating! 😤 Get to uninstalling before you lose too many days on the event. Good luck and hope this helps!

    • Hey! Thanks everyone for all the helpful suggestions! With the event clock ticking, I rolled the dice and did the delete/reinstall option that several of you suggested, and it worked like a charm. BUT it’s really good to hear about the other options at the App Store which I was unaware of. Lots o’ ways to fix the problem, and I’m grateful! Look me up if you need a neighbor.

  20. I wish the dossiers envolpes was numbered to make the days easier to keep track of.

  21. Seems like the “Men in Tan” are attracted to the “Agency Headquarters” like a magnet so there isn’t any reason to go looking for them. Also has anyone bought the “Globex Compound”? It generates Additional Expansions but expansions of what exactly? The “Camera Hat Homer” is over priced for a character skin. I think the “University Nerds” will be a Gil Deal.

    • The Men In Tan are also cleared out by the Drone Mini-Game, so that is another reason to not go hunting for them.

      • BurningBlaze360

Hold up! Over-priced?! Have you seen the cost of Acorn Kirk and Squirel Luann? (It’s 90 donuts) A costume usually costs 50 or 60 donuts! >:0

    • The expansions are the two larger buildings. They dont earn income.

  22. Screamipillar… Hilarious. He just has to be “voiced,” right? And am I the only one who reads “sleep with one eye open” in the voice of James Hetfield?

    • Nope. “Enter Sandman” has been stuck in my head all day. And, yes, I’ll be very disappointed if the screamapillar doesn’t shriek when tapped.

      • That’s the song my husband and I came out to at our wedding reception lol

        • talon8770 // rick

What an awesome choice Alissa I couldn’t think of a better way to start a part. Im hard core metal my self. BRAVO

          • Lol you’ll likely lose respect when you find out why…

it was actually more because that’s the song Mo Rivera (former closer for the Yankees) came out to during games. Or bridal party came out to Centerfield (the put me in coach song)

But we still got a lot of “props” for picking a Metallica song 😉

          • Um…when did “Enter Sandman” become hardcore metal?

        • talon8770 // rick

You got married in center field in NY stadium ?? WOW what a Blast that n
          must have been

    • Not quite. As soon as I FINISHED reading that line, James growled “gripping your pillow tight” in my brain! Ah, memories.: D

    • That would be AWESOME! Lol

  23. I can’t tell from the picture… is the Screamapillar Pond supposed to be a building (large) or a decoration (small)?

  24. Ah, the screamapillar. Without constant reassurance it will die… and it’s sexually attracted to fire.

It’s funny that this is a prize to be won since Homer tried so hard to get rid of it to begin with.

  25. BurningBlaze360

When are you going to post a Should I Buy on Camera Hat Homer. I have enough for him and he looks ridiculous so thank goodness we have the whole event to buy him! 🙂 🙂 🙂
