Should I Spend Donuts On the Hammock District?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The spies are invading Springfield!  Yes, the Secret Agent update has hit our games.  We’ve got hacking, drones, dossiers and a shrinking donut bank account because there are LOADS of spy items in our stores just tempting us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Hammock District to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this relaxation district to your Springfield…

Building: Hammock District
Donut Price: 80 Donuts
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism +20
Earns: $440, 40xp/20hrs
Size: 11×11
Tasks: Marge has a 1hr Task there (Browse the Latest Hammocks, Earns $70, 17xp)
Other Info: Can Go on the Boardwalk & Pier

Leaves Stores May 9th

Pros
-Fun design for a building
-Always animated (waterfall goes, guy in hammock swings)
-Animated when in use, different than the always animation (banners on top of buildings spin)
-Marge has a 1hr permanent task there

Cons
-No questline associated with it
-Marge’s task does not earn at a premium rate
-On the pricey side for a stand alone building

Final Thought
Premium:
It’s still another one of those “If you like it…” buildings.  It’s a fun design & the fact that Marge has a task there is a nice bonus.  It’s got a few design possibilities. So if you like it and have a location for it grab it.  Otherwise pass.

Freemium:
Pass.  Unless you really love the building I’m not a huge fan of spending donuts on stand alone buildings when donuts are hard to come by.  You’re better off saving them for character combos or items with high bonus %.  So I’d pass on this one, unless you REALLY love it.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And , as I already say, as a premium player I picked it up.  I’ve got the ideal location figured out for it.  Just remember this is limited time, and will be leaving our stores soon.  Whatever you decide, So be sure to make your final decision before it’s gone from our games for good. (or for now..)

What are your thoughts on the Hammock District?  Will you be picking it up or have you already?  Where have you placed it in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. What about the police tank?

  2. 25 kems, or whatever it is until you hit 14400 cost/per

  3. I get that premium items have always come with events like this but the amount of premium items compared to freemium is ridiculous. 3 stages of an event that’s nearly over and the only thing you can buy with in game currency is a bistro table.

I grinded pretty hard with this event but I’m gonna take it easy for the rest. None of the prizes for Act 3 really got me excited and I’ve already got everything else I was working towards.

    • While it’s true that there’s only one thing you can but for in-game cash during this event, it’s not true that there’s been a scarcity of freemium items. The prize track, crafting, dossiers, etc. have given us tons of free items! (And not having to buy those items with in-game cash leaves more cash for farming, so we can earn free donuts to buy some of those premium items, too.)

  4. Now this would’ve been a nice craftable (even if it took the entire Event to save up for), I may have a purchase planned when it returns at discount (EA seems to be on a roll with that, right?) 🤔

  5. This is derived from one of my favorite jokes from one of my favorite episodes. “The hammock district”! For years after the airing, me and my friends added “district” to everything as a joke. The port-o-potty at a concert was in the port-o-potty district. The food was in the snack district and the dancing happened in the rocking out district. You get the point. Instant buy for me. Dont really care about the donut price. I’ll just get more from the donut district. (Kem farm)

Also, glad to see stoners pot palace. Squidport was incomplete without it. Also from one of my favorite episodes. I call it “the bad baby sitting episode”. Best line is when lisa is on the phone with 911 and the operator say they already got a call from someone needing a Sisterectomy!! Classic.

  6. Honestly, this was kind of a must for me. My favorite joke from one of my favorite episodes, and giving a unique design to an unseen yet memorable location at that. It made me so happy that it was an instabuy for me. Only issue is that it’s a tad big, had to mess around with my mini Cypress Creek a bit, but I definitely don’t consider it a pass if one has the Donuts. But that’s just my nostalgia bias. 😛

  7. Did this make an appearance in the episode? It’s been a long time since I saw it.

    • Did not actually appear. It was something hank told homer about when homer came up with the idea of business hammocks to increase production. “Hammocks! Brilliant homer! Why didnt i think of that? Ok, theres 4 places you can go…….”

  8. I think I will pass. Just doesn’t have the right vibe for me.

  9. My plan was to wait until I read the SIB post but after seeing it in my neighbor’s towns I just had to buy it.

  10. Lol love this. Bought it right away. Great display.

I love it! It’s adorable, has animation, AND earns income 😀 Yes, pricey, but worth it to me😍

  12. I was hoping a hammock store would be one of the prizes during the acts and was disappointed once I saw there wasn’t one.
I will probably buy it once I save up more donuts as it’s a nice design for a building and a memorable part of the Hank Scorpio episode.

  13. You got “Put Your Butt There….”

  14. Wow, that was bigger than anticipated

  15. I love it! Although now I have it I feel I have to buy the cobblestone streets to decorate with :/

    • I’m super surprised you haven’t bought the cobblestone streets yet! Whether you buy the Hammock District or not, you really should….they provide a very welcome design alternative to the same old, same old.

    • Josephine Kick@$$

Oh, yes… my town would be almost all cobblestone & dirt roads if not for some of the crummy reasons like no bridges, town squares being regular asphalt roads, better blending when you want to just use the pavement tiles for space restrictions. (ALL fixable rEAlly). I would love to be able to make bridges over cobblestone😀😀😀. Pavement tiles that are added that match the cobblestone a little better. Town squares that you can toggle the pavement to cobble as wanted. 😃 Like I said, rEAlly some simple solutions 😊😊😊😊 (we know how smart programmers are, it is fEAsable) 😘

  16. I bought this immediately and was very pleased to see if had the perfect spot with an ugly design I was never confident with just waiting for me to switch it up. The Hammock District looks absolutely perfect there, and it’s close to Globex too!

  17. Looks nice. Going by a screenshot I saw, it is kinda in scale to fit with other buildings. I expected it to turn out to be too small, but you can make it fit seamlessly into your town.

  18. Now this is a waste 9f a thread what’s not to like beg borrow steal even KEM farm if you have to….the Hammock District is what makes Hank Scorpio such a great boss….

    • ROFL! “Even KEM farm if you have too…” cracked me up especially since I am waiting on my last round of KEM’s to be done as I write this (30 minutes to go with only 50 left on the multiplier — I may break my record for a 24-hour grind with 700+ bonuts farmed. Still not enough to cover this event…). There’s so much truth in your statement. It’s my favorite decoration of this event (although there are a lot of nice items this time, very happy!)

      • You must have a very high multiplier to farm 700+ during a 24 hour grind. My cash doesn’t keep up with me farming, so I have to stop and build up cash.

        • My multiplier isn’t that high. Regular in game about 350%, but for a farming frenzy I’ll take all of my bonus items and SH buildings out of storage and it goes up to about 650%. I made sure to have about $40M of extra cash which took about a month to collect. I then built about 3000 KEM’s over a 28 hour period (I only loaded the xp collider when the first wave was almost built). I always spent money to gamble if I didn’t get 3 bonuts 1st or 2nd try. I ended up with 738 bonuts at a cost of $37M. Not bad for a day’s “work”… Couldn’t do this for more than a day though, even if I wanted to… Three or four runs a year used to be enough but now events are getting expensive, this event I spent 1100 donuts already and my donut stockpile was dangerously close to falling below my threshhold of 2500 *** gasp *** 🙀

          • Different planet !
More than 700 donuts in a day !
It would take me months to get that amount 😢

          • You’re better off doing smaller amounts more steadily than a big frenzy like that, because of the initial increasing cost schedule (and, also the decreasing per-day cost for the collider the more days you buy). Ideally, the number of KEMs to farm is around whatever number allows your cash to remain relatively constant. Of course, it takes a bit longer to accrue donuts and it would mean keeping out all of those multiplier-earning things full time (but I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t, anyway…).

        • Exactly…I cannot either. I’m able to keep around a million in cash at all times and farm 4-6 donuts every 4 hours. I’ll only spend the 50k if I get 1 donut on first try. Oddly enough there has been a switch up with the bonut shuffler for sure…I’ve been pulling 1 donut on first try much more than before…I hate it. I’m not wasting 100k to get 3 donuts every time…that would not allow me to farm enough. Plus I never let my 5x multiplier get below 5 days so that’s 25 bonuts on the regular to amp it up to 15 days again.

        • Same here, unless I plop out a very low amount of Kems each time

      • Thanks kaboozle…..some going with your farming
