Should I Spend Donuts On Cafe Kafka?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The spies are invading Springfield!  Yes, the Secret Agent update has hit our games.  We’ve got hacking, drones, dossiers and a shrinking donut bank account because there are LOADS of spy items in our stores just tempting us with those sprinkles!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Cafe Kafka to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this coffee shop to your Springfield…

Building: Cafe Kafka
Donut Price: 60 Donuts
Conform-O-Meter: Gluttony +20
Earns: $200, 22xp/8hrs
Size: 4×7
Tasks: Skinner has a 1hr Task there (Dream of a Better Life, Earns $70, 17xp)
Other Info: Can Go on the Boardwalk & Pier

Leaves Stores May 9th

Pros
-Nice design and colors, I like the pop of green
-Animated when in use, cameras come out of windows, satellite dish on roof spins and the sign “snaps your picture”..
-Skinner has a 1hr permanent task there

Cons
-No questline associated with it
-Skinner’s task does not earn at a premium rate
-On the pricey side for a stand alone building

Final Thought
Premium:
It’s still another one of those “If you like it…” buildings.  It’s a fun design & the fact that Skinner has a task there is a nice bonus.  It’s got a few design possibilities, especially if we ever get Springfield University. So if you like it and have a location for it grab it.  Otherwise pass.

Freemium:
Pass.  Unless you really love the building I’m not a huge fan of spending donuts on pricier stand alone buildings when donuts are hard to come by.  You’re better off saving them for character combos or items with high bonus %.  So I’d pass on this one, unless you REALLY love it.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And , as I already say, as a premium player I picked it up.  I really like the pop green it’ll add t0 Springfield  Just remember this is limited time, and will be leaving our stores soon.  Whatever you decide, So be sure to make your final decision before it’s gone from our games for good. (or for now..)

What are your thoughts on Cafe Kafka?  Will you be picking it up or have you already?  Where have you placed it in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I got it to fill a gap next to my college annex building, it’s the perfect size. Dropped me under 300 donuts, though, so hopefully nothing else I want comes along for a little while.

  2. A task at a premium building should always pay premium….I hope they fix/change that at some point.

  3. Cafe Kafka – this Building should have been bundled with Nerds, it’s an interesting Building that I will wait to return at discount (cause that’s how EA rolls now) 😐

  4. Fits in great next to my Brazilian slum

    • What a great idea…mine will probably go there after the event…the color is perfect for the Rio Barrio…😄.

  5. I like this building, looks good. Sadly I don’t have enough donuts.

  6. I love this building…the roach hanging off the side taking pictures of everyone cinched it!

  7. Poor Skinner. That *would* be a step up for him.

  8. So I’ve finished all the prizes with 6 days left for free doughnut rounds. I’ve never completed an event so quickly ever. Since I started to KEM farm I’ve been able to get all the characters that earn event currency at a premium rate. I’m still on the fence in regards to stand alone buildings. I like character/building combos personally. I want to take a chance at the mystery box but I really don’t want the “Plastic Surgery Center”. Mind you there’s some gems in the prize line.

      Congrats!
You should be able to get 1-2 rounds of bonuts/day if you’re very active. I just finished round 7 this morning.

      Good luck, and tappy happing!

Yeah I usually tap way too often I’m sure I can get 2 rounds each day (hopefully when my boss isn’t looking). I want to get Camera Hat Homer but 50 doughnuts is a lot for a character skin. It would complete the character set though.

  9. Very nice, love the color and the animation. The animations and designs created for this event are amazing. Fun.

  10. I was upset to find out, much like the Egg roll building, that it had spy animation instead of something better suited to it. I *really* expected and wanted buildings I paid donuts and that are not related to spy stuff in the show to not have spy animation. This is the second thing I’m hating about this event. But after the event is over having to much spying buildings is gonna wear thin (at least for me it will). Sure, it will be fun to have a spy section in my town and I love that EA has given us a way to toggle it on and off, but these two buildings I want elsewhere not looking “spied out”. Perhaps I’m the only one who feels like this in which case I’m sorry for my rant….but has rubbed me the wrong way and I feel better getting this out. Sorry everyone for being so negative.

    • It’s a valid opinion. Some time down the road when I have the animations going, I’ll probably struggle to remember this event and wonder why the buildings are doing what they do. Haha

    • But they don’t do that spy stuff unless they’re in use (or you have the animation option turned on), so I don’t really see the problem….

      • The problem for me is I want to have a section in my town for all the true spy stuff except for this building and the other premium non-spy related ones, those I want elsewhere. I like the toggle and plan to use it to animate the spy section (I like having the ability to toggle and change things for variety, or my mood. That’s what I often do with gingerbread mansion). I would have greatly preferred Cafe Kafka and Crouching Panda Hidden Egg Roll to animate more appropriately to match the show which would fit my town design.

        • Oh, I get it now…I didn’t realize that you wanted to have the spy animations on permanently.

One hour tasks on all the new buildings are definitely not an inducement for me to buy. A lot of us prefer longer tasks.

    • Yeah, I agree. I also wish more characters could use them instead of just one. It would be cool to send the Pessimist group or Oldies group to hang out together at one of the buildings.

  12. Unique? I was hoping the Cypress Creek home was not unique!

  13. Love the uniqueness of this building. It’s also a nod to the German Literature novels of my childhood. However, pressing the donut trigger for it was far more enjoyable and easier than reading Der Process and Die Verwandlung☺️…💜X

    • Easy reading – no, but definitely interesting and weird. With an imagination like that, I don’t think Kafka was a fun guy to hang out with, though… 😉

      • 😂Partly the reason why I dropped A Level German like a hot potato (Thomas Mann & Heinrich Böll didn’t do it for me either, tho Heine offered some light relief😂)….💜X

        • Uh-oh – don’t dis Thomas Mann, he’s one of my favourite authors. I don’t know why I am the only one to see it, but he is sooo funny!

          • 😳. I bow down to you. I suspect you are part of a very select group. Thomas Mann made me cry….💜X

            • Maybe you have to be a native speaker to appreciate him… I do remember with horror fighting my way through Dickens and Shakespeare with nothing but high school english. The former I learned to like later on, the latter is still a bit iffy to read.

What Thomas Mann book did they made you read exactly, that made you cry?

              • Der Tod in Venedig. My German tutor thought it would be fun to make me translate passages from it into French. He said translating from German to French and vice versa would challenge me and make me a better linguist, hence why I no longer study German…..💜X

              • Explains a lot – that one is really no fun…

              • True. I love both of those & regularly read them….💜X

Since I am a huge fan of Hegel, I had to get this one.

  15. Nice looking building, maybe my favorite spy animation. Been buying all the things during this event. Thumbs up.
