Should I Spend Donuts on Nick’s Bowling Shops?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well time to live life in the fast lane because we’ve got ourselves a Pin Pals Bowling Mini Event in Springfield!  That’s right our pocket-sized Springfield’s have gone to the gutter….the bowling gutter that is…as we set em up to knock em down with this Bowling event!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Nick’s Bowling Shops to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding these teleporting buildings to your town…

Building/Decoration: Nick’s Bowling Shops East and West
Donut Cost: 70 Donuts
Earns: $135,15xp/4hrs
Size:
Nick’s Bowling Shop (brown) 5×7; Other Nick’s Bowling Shop (Blue) 4×6
Conform-O-Meter:
Consumerism +10 each
Other Info:
Can be placed on Pavement, Pier, Boardwalk and dirt…in addition to the usual grass.  They’ll “teleport” between each other, so you can move from one bowling shop to the other in a flash. (like the Teleporters)

Leaves stores May 23rd

Pros
-2 buildings for 70 donuts, so 35 donuts each
-If you buy Pin Pal Moe and Burns they’ll have a task there
-Allow you to “teleport” from one end of Springfield to the other by tapping on the buildings (instead of scrolling) (assuming you have a Nick’s at each end)

Cons
-No characters outside of the premium Pin Pals have a task there

Final Thought
Premium
For premium buildings this is a decent buy.  They’re only 35 donuts each, and they’re nice looking buildings.  The downside is no characters, outside premium costumes, have a task there.  That prevents this from being a great buy.  But if you’re in the market for new premium buildings and you missed out on the teleporters. this isn’t a bad pick up.

Freemium
Freemium players this is a toss up.  Personally, I’d rather spend donuts on character/building combos, but if you’re in the market for some premium buildings (and you missed out on the teleporters) these aren’t a bad pick up.  Reasonably priced for premium buildings.  The biggest downside is that they won’t get used by characters, outside of Pin Pal Moe and Burns (which if you’re premium, it’s unlike you purchased).  If you’re in the market for buildings it’s not a bad pick up, but I’d save my donuts for Jacques and Fiesta Terrace first

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can tell you I’ll be passing.  I already have the teleporters & these don’t really do much for me.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before they leave our games for good (or for now).

And that’s it my friends, the details behind Nick’s Bowling Shop Bundle!

What are your thoughts on the bowling shops?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring them to your Springfield?  Why or why not? Where have you placed them in your Springfield? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Does Nick’s bowling shops get 4% xp bonus or not?

  2. I like the episode too much to pass on these. The teleporting feature doesn’t do much for me, but maybe I could learn to like having it.

    • A classic among classics.

    • I have the four teleporters and get a lot of use out of them. I didn’t think I would initially, since it takes a while to easily remember where they are (adjustable labels would be nice…) and to decide where to put them permanently. For me, this works: One in the recycling area, one in the black hole/KEM garden area, one in the Heights stuff-generator area, and one by the rail yard. That lets me move quickly around to where I usually need to be multiple times during donut harvest/recycling/Heights work.

If I have enough donuts left over after getting Jacques and maybe the rock and recharging the XP Collider, I might pick these stores up just for the transporter function. Since they generate $ and XP and are so flexible about where they can be placed — even better.

    • I get a lot of use out of my teleporters; locating them correctly for your own patterns is key. When I teleport to Alpha, my Town Hall, Employment Office, and Krustyland Shuttle are on screen; Theta follows any event landing zone or the end of my “handshake inspection tour” if there’s no major event going on; Zeta is by my Simpson’s house and Maggie’s mini-game; and Omega is by the Railyard/recyclers not too far from the KEM farm.

  3. I like the buildings and may get but teleportation won’t be why. The teleporters are my biggest regret purchase; I never use them (although the hammock district is getting up there in terms of regretability). Also, just noticed repeated uses of the word “farmium” which I hadn’t seen before and presumably is related to KEM farming. Is that a thing now? I like it…

    • I LOVE my teleporters! Now that my town has gotten pretty spread out, it’s great to be able to jump right to key places, like the rail yard, town hall, Springfield Heights, and the unemployment office. I bought the shops, but I wish they were tied into the teleporters, so I could use them to go to teleporter locations, too. I haven’t quite figured out the best strategy for employing these yet.

    • And, yes – “farmium” is new and justifiably spreading like crazy. 🙂

  4. I’m a freemium player who played for years amd has enough donuts purchase this but I’m really torn here. I missed the Teleporters, but I have roughly all the land upgardes. I can’t really imagine the benefit. Does it really improve your everyday playing ? I’ve placed money-buildings everywhere in my Springfield, so I have to scroll around everywhere anyway. Is it really more convenient to have teleporters in your town ?

    • My teleport are IMMENSELY helpful! I can jump straight from the rail yard to town hall, or from the unemployment office to Springfield Heights, our any combination of those (I have four teleporters). I don’t use them all the time, but sometimes they’re a huge help when I need to bounce around fast. Unfortunately, the shops don’t tie into the teleporter network, so I’m still giving some thought as to how to best deploy those.

    • It depends on how you play. While I’m earning recycling donuts, I need to be able to bounce quickly between the recycling area and other areas to do something while I’m waiting for the garbage collectors to finish every 30 seconds, for example. Just hitting the character icon in the upper left of the screen doesn’t work because my characters are often far away from the dump when that icon indicates they are finished with the task. If I’m working on the Heights stuff, it’s very convenient to be able to go back and forth from where I have all the places where characters are working. Really does cut down on scrolling time if you play like I do, but if you don’t – might not matter.

My experience was that it took a while to get used to the transporters and figure out where I needed to place them, however, so if you get anything with transporter functionality – don’t give up on them too soon. Experiment.

      • jwoolman, if you just tap on the character walking around it will transport you to the dump. for example if homer is done with 30 second collect trash task and you hit the icon in top left corner it takes you to homer walking around, usually all the way across town from dump, tap on his character and *poof* you go to the dump.

It’s great that more and more buildings(like these ones) can be placed on Squidport, and i would love to do it but I’m out of tiles. I splurged on the Yellow Submarine as a way to obtain more tiles.

  6. Josephine Kick@$$

Was going to pass even though I like the look of one of the buildings because it didn’t mention any payout for them. Now that I know, I do believe I will get them 😀 Thanks Alissa! 😊😊😊😊

  7. “Sorry lady, you’ve got the wrong Nick’s. You want Nick’s on the other side of town.”

“Gee, I don’t know what Nicky’s telling you: I haven’t flushed a ball in years!”

  8. I use Chief Wiggum’s Tank to “teleport”
Did buy Nick’s Bowling Shops, being farmium

  9. This gets a 4% xp and $ bonus for 70 donuts?

    • Lenroy Changkins

I think 4% is for Jacques and Fiesta Terrace. My question is do each of the two bowling alleys generate the $135 per 4 hours? Getting 2 buildings generating cash and the “teleport” ability might not be bad. Farmium player and a bit broke after getting Jacques. My next donut expenditure is on topping up my XP collider tomorrow.
