Where Did THAT Come From – Adil Hoxha

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

Wowza… the 2017 Secret Agent Simpsons Event kept us busy collecting intel, crafting subversive surveillance items, and tapa-tapa-tapping secret agents and spies in a covert palooza all about Globex, the EPA, GHOST, and the CIA. Itwas enough to make me want to watch Roger Moore, Sean Connery, Don Adams, and Rowan Atkinson on repeat. Hooray for new ideas in TSTO. Just like the xxth Bond movie, life lessons as an adult, or an intelligence collection mission, I’m sure a lot of us never saw this coming. Of course, with any new event, there’s always an inevitable tapping on my attic floor from Alissa to get started on writing about the origins for it all. It’s always a pleasure to re-watch episodes of the Best. Show. Ever. to do just that. For this round of origins, we’ll be taking a look at Adil Hoxha, a premium character available for 75 donuts in Act Three of the 2017 Secret Agent Simpsons Event.

“The Crepes of Wrath” (S1:E11)

So you may remember an origin post I did during the Vacation event all about Cesar and Ugolin and Bart going to France. Well, there’s an entire other part to this episode that I didn’t cover. You see, Bart went as a foreign exchange student so someone had to come stay with his family and that person was none other than Adil Hoxha from Albania whose name is a fun combo of a Prime Minister and a Communist Leader from his home country.

Homer takes a real shine to the boy due to his affectionate, polite, and courteous ways and even takes Adil to work for him.

We soon learn that Adil is a Communist spy intent on giving Springfield’s nuclear secrets to his government. I guess any kid from a country that includes furious political thought as its main export probably should have been watched a bit closer. Maybe it’s just that I don’t trust his alt-right haircut lol. Of course he uses Bart’s treehouse to communicate with covert agents in Albania as code name Sparrow.

Long story short… Bart has a horrible time in France and Springfield leaked confidential nuclear secrets to an unfriendly nation but have no fear… all ends well and Adil is apprehended and extradited to release a captured American agent in Albania.

There’s other potential Adil sightings. In “Lisa the Beauty Queen” (S4:E4), one of Lisa’s very first acts as Little Miss Springfield is to welcome, errr, deport immigrants, one of whom look an awful lot like Adil. Speaking of immigrants, an Adil lookalike is seen on a bote of immigrants in “The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson” (S9:E1). This time Bart is doing the part of being an unwelcome American and yelling from none other than the Statue of Liberty. Is it possible that this Albanian spy came to America two other times only to be sent back to his country of origin? Maybe he did go to Canada.

Not too sure about the last two sightings as it may just also be a case of the writers having a stereotypical look for immigrant European children. I don’t usually source the Wiki but they claim Adil was seen leaving Burns Mansion after the family picnic in “There’s No Disgrace Like Home” (S1:E4). I’ll let you decide for yourself. The clothes match and considering Season 1 episodes were shuffled, it’s possible. I’m not so sure. Frankly, I think he’s just from the first episode I mentioned.

One thing is for certain, I’m happy this character finally made it into our games especially considering I first thought we were getting him when I saw images of Pepi in the Vacation event. But enough with my words. What do you think of Adil? Did you buy him? Like this classic episode from the very first season? Sound off in the comments and hoping you’re doing great spying and collecting intel during this event. I’m off to make sure my own treehouse is spy free.
TTFN… Wookiee out!
