Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So, here is your Open Thread…..

After a short 1 week hiatus, the Simpsons are back this week with an all new episode!  The Season 28 Finale.  What were your thoughts on Season 28 overall?  Ready for what Season 29 will bring?

The Pin Pals mini event is winding down, what do you think will hit our games next week?  Thoughts on the Pin Pals event overall?  Which items did you purchase?

How was the rest of your weekend?  Do anything fun and exciting? I’m in Florida (Disney World) for a few more days…but if you’re interested you can check out photos from my trip (mostly of the Tiny Addict of course) on my Instagram Page… @AddictsAlissa

So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of!  Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!

Have Fun!  And happy Sunday!

  1. I need some TECH HELP – I have no sound when playing TSTO on my IPAD AIR
    I have –
Checked that I have sound on my iPad Air for other things (Facebook, Music App, Safari)
Checked my iPad Air Settings for TSTO. It shows that Music Volume and SFX Volume are both at full volume setting.
Checked under game options that Music Volume and SFX Volume are both at full volume setting.
Lastly, I deleted the game and reinstalled it. Then checked the above settings again. Still, no volume but I have volume for other apps.
Any ideas what is not working?

    • Oh, and I also did a hard boot of my iPad Air

    • Have you tried removing all the other running apps? I usually find that when TSTO is running slow or has no sound, removing all the running apps and then restarting TSTO fixes the problem. If that doesn’t work, try visiting friends and/or Krustyland.

    • Finally figured it out after finding the same question on an EA forum via a Google search. It seems that the mute/lock rotation button on the iPad Air can mute TSTO without muting the other functions on the device. So, a quick slide of that switch on the side of the device and all is good. I must have inadvertently changed the switch’s position.

    • I’m not a tech girl at all, LOL, but…
I had a look via Google and the following was listed:
“It could be the side ‘slide switch’ if the slide switch on the side is set to “lock rotation”, it’s still controlling volume on the game. Go into general settings, change the slide switch to mute/unmute. That should fix it. Once you have sound, you should be able to change the slide switch back to lock rotation.
      or..
Go into Settings, then scroll down and find the Tapped Out app and click it. Then look for Notifications (Badges, sounds, banners) and click that. It should show you the different sound options and maybe you have one clicked off.
      I hope this helps. 🙂

R.I.P. Chris Cornell – I will never forget you or the wonderful talent you shared with us. You were gone too soon… Your family and friends are in my prayers

Homer used to have a 6 second task that would award $35.00 called “Try to survive the day” or something to that effect. It went away a few weeks ago. It sucks they took it away! I used to use that one all the time when I was steadily tapping collecting building loot, furniture, coffee or other short tasks. Luckily I have grown to where I don’t really need it anymore I guess. It helped me so much beginning this game a few months ago. Without that task it would have taken twice as long for me to begin affording hardly anything in the beginning.

  4. Kind of got bored with the game today, so started a new area of my town with the Tetunus terminal and the Hammock district. Had the terminal stored for a long time.
Not having a long event makes me rethink my inventory, which is huge.
Hope all are having a good week.

    • I started working on the railyard again after about a year and began reconfiguring the monorail…. Should keep me busy until next event and beyond 😀

  5. Can anyone help me find the link to a post on this site? Sometime back there was a post that had a list and links to videos to the Simpson shorts that appeared on The Tracy Ullman Show. For the life of me I can not find it.

  6. Yellow tasks are still showing up (3 hour) for kids from bowling event. Have uninstalled & reinstalled.

  7. I really hope EA holds off with the next event until next week. Tomorrow is a public holiday in Germany, and I am having a four day weekend. I don’t know if I will be able to tap where I’m going, but if it is possible, and they drop an update, I just know I won’t be able to resist. Fortunately, my husband is resigned to my TSTO-addiction by now…

  8. So, my son started a TSTO game. I told him I’d get him past level 20. I came on TSTOAddicts site (trying to get him “friends”) saying he was a beginner (@ that time a level 14). I thought I added his account to the non-vandalizing friends list. I deleted 2 “friends” from his list cause they chose to vandalize vs clicking a brown house when visiting his town. There have been numerous times in my own personal games when I could only tap one or 2 buildings (or none at all) in a “friends” town and stuck to it (vs choosing to vandalize). Why vandalize (when you agree NOT to) when you don’t need to? There have been times when I have done it accidentally (and I felt so guilty about it), but these people are choosing to on their own (& repeat offenders). I guess I wish to know if I made the right choice in deleting them, or trying to help my son get farther in his game.

    • There is no shortage of neighbors out there, if you are not happy with your neighbors remove them and find new ones. I am not against vandalizing but I rarely do it because I know it bothers some people. However sometimes I am clicking in a rush and just hit the first three buildings I see. The harm it vandalizing is temporary and the game is supposed to be fun, remember that and keep tapping

  9. Non TSTO comment.
What a sad world we live in, when youngsters at a concert are targetted by terrorists.
These scum cannot surely stoop any lower. Losers… you bet they are.

  10. I really hope EA fixes our inventory. I have been playing since the beginning and finding anything in my inventory is a daunting chore. I won a sir-loves-a-lot that went into storage and have not been able to find him. They really just need to add catagories for each holiday group. That alone would make things much more searchable. if they don’t want to add more catagories at least put the new items in the groups you have. There are too many things uncatagorised or just in the miscellaneous category. Or even better give us a way to organize it ourselves.
Thank you for listening, now I just hope someone at ea does.

    • A basic search function would be worth donuts to me 👍😁…maybe in the form of a warehouse you could buy, and when you tap on it, you are able to “search the warehouse”?

    • I can’t find the Sir-Loves-a-Lot I won too! I wonder if it is a glitch?

    • I may be wrong but I think I saw someone comment that Sir-Loves-a-lot is unique so if you already had him he doesn’t appear even though you won him…

      But I could be wrong!
      😃

      • MAB The Great, That would really suck if its true! I do have him from the original event, That means they really messed up with the claw machine or I guess they got it right, as with a real one you over pay for the garbage you get that you could buy in store for a fraction of the price! I think I have to store the machine cant help playing when I see the joystick!! (Sign of a true addict)

  11. Sending my thoughts and prayers to everyone in Manchester. It makes me feel sad, and I think it is sad and terrible that It’s not even safe to do everyday things anymore 😟

    Prayers for Manchester 💔

  13. ok…. i seem to be missing something here…. i have a friend that has half of his mountains missing so that Springfield Heights is right there with Springfield….. how did he do that… i tried remove my mountains but… can’t seem to understand how he did it…. and it is the only friend… that has it that way on their town…..

    Anyone seen this?
    Thanks!

    • Was a temporary glitch when the Monorail tunnels were first released. If you placed a tunnel and then stored it, the mountains didn’t re-appear and you had empty property left behind. Was fixed pretty quickly, so not many people were able to take advantage of it.

    • There was a glitch awhile ago where players could remove the mountains.

    • There was a temporary glitch a while back that allowed people to do that, but they fixed it, so there’s no way to do that now.

    • There was a glitch some time ago that let you remove the mountains. If you placed the monorail tunnels and then removed them again, it removed the mountains right along with them – or something like that. Haven’t tried myself, though, I still have a full mountain range.

    • There was a glitch when the monorail tunnels were first released that allowed people who wanted to to remove some of their mountains could do so by placing and then storing the tunnels in succession. Sadly this glitch was patched so the mountains can no longer be removed however if you had already removed them they have not been put back.

  14. I posted a question over a week ago but I can’t find that posting now in the blog to see if anybody answered. So I’ll try again here. Ever since the bowling event, I’ve noticed that 95% of my neighbors are no longer visiting my Springfield and leaving friendly taps. Since that first post, I’m wondering if, perhaps, neighbors have reached the end of their friends prizes and are no longer interested in tapping in other towns. My original question asked if perhaps the problem was a glitch in the game following the end of the spy stuff. When I visit my friends towns, it appears that no one else is tapping their buildings. Am I just in an alternate universe??Any ideas?

    • I think a lot of tappers are just taking a break right now…lots of events recently, and a week off to breathe and relax is nice. Don’t worry…after the next event starts, most players will be back to regular visits.

    • Maybe they have discovered KEM farming as a quicker way to get more donuts. Or they are just taking a break til the next big event.

    • I’m not sure what level you’re on, I’m sorry if this is a silly suggestion, but if you are on a lower level, and you do not have a lot of buildings, there may not be anywhere for your neighbours to tap. Or if you are clearing all the money from your buildings, there will be nowhere for them to tap. Or maybe they’re taking a break from visiting. I used to visit every neighbour everyday, but It takes a long time, so I don’t visit every neighbour every day anymore. If you want to be neighbours, I can visit your Springfield and let you know on here if there is a glitch or if there isn’t anything to tap in your Springfield etc so you will know? 🐱🌸🌟

      • Kitty of course we can be neighbors! I didn’t realize that clearing money from buildings created a problem for tappers. This may be my own failt, then. My level is 149. Thanks for the tips!

        • Thank you, I sent you a request (if your name is scholarcat) 🙂
(my user name has the word Kitty in it,so you will know it is me)
Since you’re a high level, then I think it is probably is because you’re clearing all the money-
And you’re welcome, I’m happy to help 🙂
          See you in Springfield

    • I bet it’s people who have all the prizes not needing to tap any more unless there is an event on that demands it. Tappnig friends is a bit of a waste of you life as it is Sooooo slow, after all 🙂

      • I am one of those who can rarely do friend visits anymore (even get time to read/respond to open thread) I recently went back to school (should be studying now in fact) and since our towns are so big, load times between friends towns adds so much time, it’s just not doable for me anymore. So I completely understand if any of my neighbors drop me for not visiting.
My favorite part of visiting was seeing what designs people were coming up with for new items but starting from the Simpsons house can take several minutes of scrolling just to find new areas, I usually give up after a few towns.

    • Because of the time it time to tap neighbors some people will take a break from visiting when the event does not offer anything for it. As for friend points long time players maxed those out a long time ago, I think over it’s been over 2 yearsi for me. I may only tap neighbors once or twice a week when the event does not call for it and I only do that for the donut possibility. You should also check if your neighbors have stopped playing all together, you can see this if you tap their name in the friends list. My rule of thumb if they are gone for more than 3 weeks I usually delete them.

      • Thanks for the info, Bnfire! I have actually checked their last time playing, most within a few hours. I won’t worry about this anymore. Thanks to everyone who replied!

    • Carmen (gameid5000)

The benefits of visiting friends, especially for high level (or long time) players is minimal between events. Even during events I will only visit friends when I’m in the bonus donut stage of a segment and need a few hundred points to get to them…

Otherwise, friends get visits from me when my dog wakes me up at 5am on a Saturday or Sunday….

  15. With the next update will EA please, please, please, please, please, PLEASE open up the rest of the land squares on the Springfield Heights side of the mountains? My OCD can’t cope with the very uneven look much longer.

  16. Anyone know if there is still a way to get a second tunnel for the monorail to go through? I just completed a week of actions and got more pieces but don’t see a way to get the tunnel 🙂

    • Make sure you complete the tasks week to week without a break. The 2nd tunnel should eventually show up as a prize.

  17. I don’t generally post anything private here.
I’m more one for private life being private and game chat being here.

    However,

I just found out yesterday that a close friend died.
30 years old, leaving behind a 26 year old widow when they were just planning to have a family.
    Still hasn’t sunk in.

He died in a hotel room. On his own.

    Life is unfair.

    • So very sorry for your loss. That is way too young.

    • Sorry to hear that, man. My condolences.

    • I’m SO sorry to hear that! You’re right – life totally isn’t fair.

I’ll keep you (and his young widow) thoughts in my this week. 🙁

Take care of yourself and bff gentle with yourself if you find you’re not on your “A game” (in life, not TSTO!) for a bit…that’s though stuff to deal with. ((hug))

    • One of my childhood friends died in 2012, at the age of 25. She was asleep on her couch and just never woke up. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. I agree that life is unfair, though it seems like there should be a stronger word for it.

    • Sorry for your loss. Life is unfair. 19 dead, many children, died at the end of a Ariana Grande Concert in the UK. If you are religious you hope/believe they are going to a better place. We have gotten use to people living a long life. My grandmother had half her siblings die before hitting 18. Her husband died when my mother was just 16. She lived to 93. Whenever I start to think about something bad happening to me, I remember that I am luckier than 99% of the people on this earth.

    • Really sorry to hear that .
      My condolences to all concerned.

  18. Is there a list please which details characters who earn super premium with a costume, I’d no idea about Burns until I read it above.

    Many thanks 😊

  20. Hello Everyone…..this is my last post, I’ll be deleting my friends list and be done with the game by Tuesday. I fly out Tuesday therefore I’ll be signing off.

Thank you to all my neighbours and the whole Tapped Out community!

    Take care everyone….

    • Take care Val

    • Will miss you 😿…best wishes on your new adventure and I hope you have a safe and challenging new chapter in your life…much happiness☺️

      Dear Val:

You have been a simply outstanding neighbor since the moment I was fortunate enough for you to accept my invitation. And, while I am sad to see you go, I wish for you good tidings, fresh wonders and heaps o’ joy – not only with your upcoming travels, but throughout your life. If I’m lucky enough to see you back with a second wind (and I’m crazy enough to still be playing this thing), then all to the good…otherwise, thank you again for sharing your time with me.🍻

    • Have a safe journey, Val! Take care always.
      Elvie
